We have been taking our dogs there for over 5 years. Never an issue. As for the lady complaining…read moreabout not taking dog if shots weren't up to date or expiring during their time away. That's a stupid remark. Didn't want to over-vaccinate your dog? Please. There are state guidelines that they must follow. Sounds to me that alot of the complaints are not even legit or petty. And then you have the complaint of someone being charged for dropping off a little early. Well everything is digital nowadays so when you check them in it registers the time. Why didn't you just wait a few more minutes to drop dog off? Again, petty.

After my dogs boarding from Friday afternoon to mid Monday morning, I was informed that during his Monday morning bath, the groomer noticed a "hot spot" on his back leg. Upon further examination, it appeared to be an actual wound, not a hot spot. From god knows what. Then as I kept looking him over, I realized he had a giant black spot on his front leg. I thought it was a scab but once I started messing with it, it seemed like gum or some sort of tar. Once that was removed, I noticed his paw. That's when I saw that 3 of his paw pads were stuck together with the same type of tar / gum substance. I had to use a ton of goo gone and patience to get it off him. He does not like his paws being messed with but once he realized I was giving him some relief, the process went smoother. Regardless, I shouldn't have had to do any of that. Disappointed with the level of "care" my pup got and how he was given back to me.

Apple Dog daycare actually boards their dogs in crates between the hours of 11-1 and 4-6, which means they aren't getting exercise which is the whole point of sending them to daycare. My dog only got 18k steps from 8-6 and she gets double at other facilities for the same cost. Additionally they have dirt instead of turf like the other places I go to which is just a preference since I have a dog that easily gets hair in her fur. My dog has high energy so this model may work for a lot of other dogs who want to give their dogs breaks in between play, I just would rather send to a daycare to get the biggest bang for my buck.

So, I decided to board him while I was on vacation for 3 nights and 4 days. When I picked him up the front desk worker gave me back his dog bag and said "Uhm his blanket and toy smell really bad." After I got home, I took out his dog blanket and toy, and it REEKED off urine and was STILL WET. I had to wash the blanket and toy 5 times before ultimately throwing it away. I also noticed they took my whole bag of calming treats I packed for my pup to use during thunderstorms. I know they keep the dogs in crates at night so it made me think that my dog was sleeping in his pee for multiple nights with how badly this blanket smelt. I thought the whole interaction with the front desk person was completely unprofessional and I will not be bringing my dog back here again.

I used Happy Camper for several years and my pup always seemed very happy to go. One day last year…read morewhen I picked him up he was limping. I figured he'd just played too hard. That was a $700 sprain, after x rays and treatment. But recently I took him in for a few hours while I had some workmen at my house. When I picked him up he was wet. The owner was there and I mentioned how wet he was. He just blew me off and didn't give me much of a reason why the dog was so wet. Once I got him home I noticed that he had two spots on his head that were bleeding. This was on a Friday. I treated him and watched him over the weekend. He had a lot of mucus from his right eye. Got him into the vet on Monday. Treated with antibiotics. At this point I went to Happy Camper and asked what the hell happened. The owner told me that my dog was bleeding from his tongue! And the reason he was so wet was because they had to wash all the blood off. I was furious. Why hadn't they told me he was bleeding from his tongue? I got the run around from the owner and no real answers. He asked if "some free daycare would help". No. The truth would help. Telling me that my dog was bleeding at the time would have helped. My dog wasn't getting better and his nostril was full of dry boogers. Took him back to the Vet and he was diagnosed with neurogenic "dry eye", meaning that a superficial nerve above his eye was damaged and right eye and nostril won't produce lubrication EVER again. He will be on 2 kinds of eye drops daily for the rest of his life. Greatly increased risk of corneal abrasions. I suspect that my 25 pound dog was attacked by a bigger dog. I trusted Happy Camper to take care of my baby, but instead he was put in a situation where a bigger dog was able to attack him. I was not told about any of it, which means either no one was watching or they saw and didn't want to admit fault. I am furious. I do not recommend Happy Camper to anyone. They broke my trust and now my sweet little boy has a life long condition. The medications are $100 a month and he hates getting eye drops, which I have to give him twice a day. I will never take him back to Happy Camper.
