Our regular boarding place for our dogs apparently went out of business and we had to find a new place for our dogs at the last minute. My husband found Hanover Your Pet, read through the reviews and suggested I call them. It was a Saturday and I didn't think I would have much success reaching someone in the office on a weekend. But someone answered, made a reservation for us, and invited me to come by for a tour ahead of time. I did take a tour; our dogs stayed there this weekend, and we will be a returning customer. 1) The reception area is welcoming and organized. 2) The office staff is friendly. 3) The food organization for the boarded pets is great! 4) Our dogs were happy to see us but not pulling towards the door when we picked them up. They actually seemed to like staying there. 5) The play yard is visible .. you could see the dogs having fun. All in all, very happy with our first experience! read more

So the place where I normally board my fur baby was booked up for the dates we needed. They recommended Hanover Your Pet. I called to make reservations and after being told they were WIDE open for the dates needed. As soon as she asked me the breed and I told her she immediately oh um can you hold for a moment. Then came back to the phone and was fumbling and said oh I'm sorry I was looking at the December calendar. You could tell it was an obvious lie! People need to recognize it's not the breed that's the issue it's the owners! read more

We only occasionally need our dog to stay overnight somewhere and when we do this is the place. They take good care of him.

I've taken my miniature dachshund here twice and attempted a third time. The first time, I asked to wait while they did her groom. We got there as soon as they opened and my dog only takes about 10 minutes since she is just 10 lbs, short-hair, and requires no haircut. The groomer was quite stand-offish and was noticeably irritated that I was waiting. The second time, the staff member who helped me at the desk was nice and the groomer was neutral. This time I noticed there seemed to be no effort to be kind/friendly. Just in-and-out. I tried to appreciate that it was a fast service and not think too much about the customer service. The third time, I called to ask questions about wait time for my appointment scheduled that same day and the staff member on the phone was noticeably rude. I decided to forego the appointment and find somewhere else. I don't appreciate the customer service here and these awkward or unfriendly interactions are enough for me to stop trying. Contact between employee and dog-parent is pretty low volume in general, so to have a poor attitude out of the 3 minutes we have to speak to each other says a lot to me. read more

Great Place to board! My dog loves it; especially the pool in the summer time! Never had any issues.

I had a falling out last fall with my previous groomer. Used one groomer who was very good, but I didn't like that it was connected to a vet that I used to use. Too noisy. Too many barking puppers. I waited over a month for a grooming appointment for my beloved Std Poodle. (My girl waited for 3 mo for a groom.). WELL WORTH IT! Everyone there is genuine & so accommodating. My sweetie felt great smelled clean & was so happy to look like the pretty girl she is. We just had another appt 10 days ago only b/c she needed to get familiar w HYP. I hope to build a long term relationship w HYP. My sweetie may even enjoy getting away from her boring Hoomans & have a play date @ HYP. Saw many owners dropping off fur babies for playtime. read more

I've been taking my dog here for doggie daycare for the past few weeks, and Hanover Your Pet has been a godsend! On Oliver's first day of daycare, he and I were both nervous wrecks - his last trip in a car was to the vet to get 5 teeth pulled, so his newfound car anxiety was understandable. As for me, my fear was more rooted in combination of the unknown and the scary 1-star Yelp reviews for this place. Still, I felt compelled to get Hanover Your Pet a shot since they had the best deal on month-long daycare packages in my area and had offered to let me do a trial one-day run of daycare to see if Oliver would like it. Well, it turns out that I was worried for nothing! The staff at Hanover really treated Oliver like he was their own dog, and he came home absolutely exhausted after spending his day in the little dogs' playpen. They even sent him home with a report card that told me about how he did and the new friends he made! When I first brought him home, he was so excited to see me that he wanted to play, much to my surprise considering he slept through the car ride home! However, just 30 minutes later, he ended up conking out into a little snoring pile of contented exhaustion at 6:30 pm and sleeping until 7 am the next morning. This routine has turned out to be fairly standard in the weeks since that first visit, and I'm extremely pleased - as someone who has a similarly tiring day, it's a nice change to be able to relax after work instead of running desperately around the neighborhood with a poop bag in hand. I also really appreciate how fast I can drop off/pick up Oliver both before and after work, even during peak hours. There's something to be said about fast check-ins and check-outs, and these people have got it down! read more

Picked up our dog from boarding a week here and noticed we gave them enough food labeled in plastic bags for a week. We actually gave them one extra bag in case something happened. When we picked him up it was visible he had not eaten everyday. We were given back equivalent to 4 days of food (meaning he did not eat 3 days worth). Not only that he now has not been well and we are having him seen by our vet tomorrow. He is a very healthy 1 year old dog so take that out of the equation. I completely understand that there are issues when boarding animals and them having trouble eating but that has never been the case when we boarded him in other places. Called and spoke to the Assistant Manager and he directed me that they have over 100 dogs and sometimes it is very difficult to keep with them all but they do not waste any food if they have not eaten their food from the previous day. Again a nice email or phone call would have gone a long way prior to us having a conversation after the fact. It would be different if we were not paying for a service but in fact we did pay. I would not trust my kids stuffed animal here. I am not big on reviews but sometimes you need the truth from the outside of what is actually taken place inside. read more

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET LIKE A CHILD..... DON't take them here for grooming. I recently took my puppy here after a co-worker recommendation and I wish I did not. Luckily, its hair and it will grow back. After this experience I plan to watch some youtube videos and learn how to groom him myself! I got my puppy back [after giving specific instructions] looking like a sickly malnutritioned snouzer (sp?)...did I mention he was a yorkie. The groomer had completely shaved his facial hair off. When my friend came over the next day he asked if the puppy was sick! NEVER AGAIN! Also I don't know about anyone else but the customer service I received was so unwelcoming and not warm at all. It was more like they were wondering why I was there.... tsk...tsk...fool me once... *Also the waiver is hillarious as a previous reviewer mentioned. It basically states that no matter what happens to your pet while on their property [fault or not] its not their fault, lol! In the great words of one Elizabeth Halsey.... Seriously! However, since I was on the opposite side of town, had to get to work and he was only there for grooming I just said a quick prayer that the groomer would not harm my baby. read more

We have been taking our dogs to Hanover Your Pet for 7+ years now. They are wonderful, accomodating and absolutly love on every dog that goes there. As soon as our "boys" figure out that we are on our way there, they start going bonkers (in a good way) and once we get there, it is a struggle to keep them in line as they bound for the door to get in. Erin, any company that has the desire to stay in business in today's litigious world knows and understands that you have to have an ironclad Liability Waiver. Remember, these are dogs and sometimes, even the best dog can have a bad moment, get loose and harm another dog. That is not necesarily the fault of the boarding facility, but too many people will sieze on that to initiate a lawsuit to try to get some money. Get a clue before you bash a company and sully its name on-line. HYP - as you put it, does nothing but love on our dogs (and every other dog we see there), they recognize our dogs before we walk in. We go 25 minutes out of our way to ensure our pups (now almost 12 and 13 yrs old) get the best treatment possible when we are out of town. We love Hanover Your Pet, and would not consider taking our dogs elsewhere. read more

If you read the reviews here the majority of negative reviews seem to come from angry pit bull owners. The fact of the matter is that Hanover Your Pet is doing the right thing by not allowing Pit Bulls to mix with the rest of the dogs while playing in the yard. Many -responsible- pro-pit bull advocates will even tell you that a dog park (or anywhere that provides free play to a large number of dogs) is not a good place for a pit bull as they are being set up to fail. Here's to hoping that no one is under any delusions that pit bulls were bred for anything but to fight and hunt - but going further it's not just in their natural predisposition for aggression but the grab and lock bite method that makes them such a threat at the dog park. They are incredibly reluctant to release prey once it finds itself between their jaws. Many people use these dogs to hunt hogs (my father, a Vietnam war vet, said watching a team of Pit Bulls take down a hog was the most violent thing he'd ever seen). Now imagine your labrador, husky, hound, or golden retriever are between those jaws and it's not letting go - nightmare fuel. This is the exact reason I do not take my dog to the dog park. If you read the reviews for the dog park at Dogwood Dell there are numerous incidents with people mentioning Pit Bull attacks (from owners that likely thought that their dogs would not snap). I am thank full to Hanover Your Pet for providing this safe space. As far as this facility goes, it's a great place! The people are nice as can be and the cost is very reasonable. We used to go to dogtopia, but I wasn't crazy about the fact that everything took place indoors. I think it hurt my dog's potty training as she is still young, but here they get outside time and she hasn't gone in the house a single time since she started going to Hanover Your Pet. I think it's been really good for her! She can't wait to get in the car to go. The only complaint I have is that I wish they would not reinforce bad behaviors by allowing your dog to jump. I'm trying very hard to break my dog of that habit and had mentioned it to the woman at the reception counter as, "Please help me to not encourage this bad behavior which we are trying to work on with obedience classes" and while she smiled and said that they would not encourage the jumping as soon as I saw my dog go outside she was being encouraged to jump on a girl's lap for attention and pets. Disappointing. That's honestly my only complaint, but it will probably prevent me in taking my girl there more often as I'd like to reinforce this bad behavior as little as possible - still, it's a great place when she needs to burn off some energy and socialize. Maybe when she get 'no jump' down a little better we will visit more often. :) read more

I'm sure they took care of our animals just fine, but one lady at check-in just ruined this place for us. Our dogs all wear muzzles when they go out because they eat various things in the yard and have had surgeries as a result. When we dropped them off for boarding and mentioned the muzzles, the woman at the counter was indignant! "There's nothing out there for them to eat! Did you mention this when you made your reservation? How will it look to people if there are dogs wearing muzzles in our yard!?" I've never had a kennel say anything other than "yes ma'am" about the muzzles! And then, when I asked if we could leave toys, she said "you sure they won't eat them, too?" I couldn't believe how rude she was. We won't go back. read more

I wrote a review a few months ago and had to write another! We left our Poodles at Hanover Your Pet for a week two weeks ago. Poor Rocco was acting a little off when I dropped him off. Well, the staff called me later because he seemed like he didn't feel well and they were worried. At my request, they took him to the vet and found he had a pinched nerve in his neck. They got his meds and brought him back. They hand fed him and gave him his pills all week. When he cried they let him lie in their laps in the office. They were so concerned. I knew he was in great hands and they were very concerned when I would call to check on him. Rocco is doing great now thanks to the wonderful staff at Hanover You Pet! read more

I took my dog for boarding for a last minute business trip. Even though it was during a high-traffic holiday drop off and pickup time they got me in and out of there pretty quickly. The staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. The dogs get several hours of play time which makes me feel way better about leaving her behind. My little doggie slept for almost 2 days straight when she got home after only 1 night of boarding so she was definitely exercised well. Surprisingly she didn't need a bath as soon as she got home so they must keep the play areas pretty clean. I had this place recommended by coworkers who have used them before for boarding and doggy day care. It's a bit more expensive then some other places but they do a pretty good job. read more

We have been taking our dog here for years and love it. The first time we came, I asked to see the facilities. They gladly took us back and let us see everything. Everything was clean, well organized and safe. Some other boarding places we looked at kept the dogs in kennels for most of the day, with extra charges for playtime. At Hanover Your Pet, they are playing most of the day with some short breaks for "nap and snacks." The staff obviously loves dogs and will honor (reasonable) requests to make your dog feel more at home. The large pool costs a bit extra, but it's a good treat for the dogs during the summer months. At other boarding places, we felt guilty about leaving the dog. But at Hanover Your Pet, we never worry. The dog loves to go there and is tired out from playing when we pick her up. read more

I have now utilized this place twice. The first time I had an amazing experience--the ONLY reason they are even receiving two stars! I dropped my two dogs off for the weekend, one an older English springer, low energy but playful. The other a pit/lab mix, high energy but very puppy-like and playful. When I picked them up, they both came home completely exhausted and slept for almost 2 days. I was amazed and so thankful my normally energetic pit/lab was actually worn out and obviously played hard. I was so impressed that when I needed him out of the house for the day, I immediately thought to take him here for daycare. Today, my husband dropped off our pit mix for daycare, expecting a similar experience. When he picked him up, he was told our dog was isolated to play alone because we was a pit breed. My dog RARELY has issues with other dogs. If anything, he is overly friendly, which (understandably) annoys the other dogs, but he has never been aggressive. Even if that were the case, it would be understandable...but they didn't even give him a chance to see how he interacted with other dogs before they decided he can't be around others. This was not an issue the first time he stayed there, why was it now? Had I known this place discriminated against bully breeds, I would not have supported such an establishment. I was so happy with my initial experience, I've referred them to several friends, as well...won't be doing that anymore. In fact, I will have to inform these friends that they support breed discrimination. What a shame. read more

I took my 13mth Jack Russell here and I was so happy when I get a text message with pictures of my baby having fun and playing. He looked so happy. When I picked him up the staff was telling my how great he was and how much fun they had with him. He even got a first day doggie bag. I take my dog to a few day cares and Hanover Your Pet is one of the cleanest. My pup doesn't come home smelling like dirty, wet dog. The only down side is I have to remember to make an appt., sometimes I just want to bring him without calling. I still like the place and will continue to take my baby. read more

This place discriminates against pit bulls *based on looks alone.* When I called to make an appointment, I was told that if she "looks a lot like a pit bull," she'll go out in their yard alone. I explained that my dog can pass 9 of 10 of the AKC Canine Good Citizen tests, that she boards in open kennel environments frequently, and that we've never had a single incident with aggression with her, ever (our Chihuahua is an entirely different story). No, no, and no - if she looks like a stereotypical pit bull, training, history, and ownership have no matter. Shame on this business for propagating ignorance on pit bulls in the face of overwhelming scientific studies to the contrary. read more

Nice people but.. Be warned if you have a "bully breed". They did not mention this until I asked about her experience but they do not socialize bully breed dogs with the rest of the dogs. They stay isolated in their own pin or play area with no other dogs. My pup came home not tired and unsocialized. I take the dog to daycare and boarding so she can be socialized, if places like this don't allow us to do that they are only encouraging discrimination of these breeds. I will not be back as I don't respect the breed discrimination. They should only isolate based on behavior not breed alone. read more

The front desk staff was very unprofessional and rude at this facility and I was refused a tour! Clearly the management has something to hide. Do not bring your dog here if you expect friendly service. If they act this way towards customers, I cannot imagine how they treat their pets! read more

I have been boarding our dogs here for 10 years and have never had a problem. HYP takes such excellent personal care of each dog it eliminates the guilt factor when you have to leave them. You can tell the staff are all animal lovers. They have been able to board our dogs at the last minute several times. I highly recommend this facility for your pets! read more

I have left my dog with HYP a couple of times a year for the past 4 years. My dog is an complete coward, and is very skitterish around other dogs and people she doesn't know. She seems to be better adjusted each time I pick her up. Like most pet owners, my dog is my dear companion and I am very protective. I think the new rules on liability are a bit over cautious, but I don't see them changing the quality of care which is my main concern. I will be leaving my dog at HYP in February. read more

I have been taking my two dogs to HYP for several years now. My dogs participate in daycare as well as being boarded when I need to be out of town. I do not agree with the one review about the agreement issue. Any facility that you board your precious pets HAS to have some type of liability wavier. I have witnessed first hand the immediate care that HYP gives to any injured animal there. Accidents happen particularly when you get dogs together; they get into "pack" mentality sometimes. Animals have "bad days" just like humans. Their staff are highly trained and very compassionate and loving. I have seen this business grow and evolve over the years. I t says something for the business when you drop off your pet(s) and they go thru the back doors and don't look back and are excited in being there! Would think of no better place to leave my "babies". read more
