The house in question is Victorian style, 2 1/2 stories tall, with numerous gables, dormers, a turret with curves, and an octagon shaped porch. It was covered with the original shakes, and needed plywood installed before the new roof went down. This is to emphasize the scope and complexity of the job. There was a 4 day window of good weather. The contractor showed up Monday AM with about 6 vehicles, including 2 or 3 support rigs that held porta-jon and cleanup tools, another just for ladders and rigging, etc. Very organized and professional. 13 workers to start with. Each day's progress was nothing short of amazing. No one ever slacked off, yet morale seemed high. The jobsite was cleaned each evening. They were completely finished by noon Thursday, just barely beating the rain. The finished work looks very good. I was made aware of the cost by my neighbor. Judging be the size, scope, and difficulty of the job, and the speed of completion and quality of work done, I'd say it was a very reasonable price. Everyone in the neighborhood has commented on how impressed they were with this company's work.

Work needed:…read more Replaced all windows and siding and repaired water damage from leaking windows on the south facing side of our home. They also removed and replaced our front deck and extended our rear deck, repaired our roof from leaks and repaired all the custom woodwork and drywall inside the home from water damage. It was a large job because we have a 3 story home over 5000SF. They had to get a crane with a bucket to do most of the work because the house is too tall for scaffolding or ladders. Review of work: In our area of Coastal Oregon the climate is very wet and the wind is really strong. The house was built in 2006 but the previous builder did not do a good job of weatherproofing the house for this region. When it rained we would get water inside the house on the south facing side of the home. I got a few quotes and Halvorson-Mason was priced very good compared to their competitors. I also got recommended to them by our realtor. Chris and Brian of Halvorson-Mason were great to work with. They gave us a price and kept their word about what they would do to complete the job. They are very professional and down to earth guys. I couldn't ask for better craftsmanship. Their team are top notch guys and very reliable and trustworthy. We purchased this house last year knowing we had to get it fixed and thanks to Halvorson-Mason the house looks new again. I would definitely recommend these guys to friends and will use them again in the near future. (I am already in talks with Chris about installing an elevator in the house) I don't think there isn't anything they can't do when it comes to custom homes.

Becksted Built did a terrible job on the remodeling of my basement…read more Chad left so many things unfinished, the walls, the electrical, he left my stairs dangerous and unfinished. He kept saying all along that he was a professional, which I have learned HE IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL!!! Chad used second-hand material to use for the remodel. I paid him for the work and he did not finish it. And after I paid him a lot of money, he came back and asked me for more!! I told him I wouldn't give him any more money, so he broke into my house, took his stuff and I haven't heard from him since. I filed a complaint with the CCB but Chad told them that he was working on my basement as a friend, not as a contractor so I could not collect on his bond to get my basement finished by a real professional. Chad ripped me off. I am a single female who, admittedly, knows nothing about construction and remodeling and Chad took advantage of that. Chad is a con artist, just after money and not having pride in his work.
