My cousin and her friends were in Koreatown getting dessert at Ubatuba Acai and parked in one of the spots in the lot. They didn't realize that they weren't supposed to park in the parking lot and their car was towed. They called ARS Tow and was told to bring $261 in cash and was given the 547 Gladys Ave address. I went to pick them up to take them to the towing company and we arrived a little after midnight. The towing company was located at a street full of transients. I didn't realize that I was driving in Skid Row. They were walking all about in the middle of the road towards my car. I drove right past it because I didn't feel comfortable dropping off these young girls at a unsafe location in the middle of the night. I asked for one of the girls to call the towing company and ask for an employee to come out to meet them and they responded they have cameras all around. This company used to be credible and helpful and now they have been a nightmare. I manage multiple buildings in Los Angeles and I had ARS for one specific building and had a vehicle that had been abandoned and inoperable for a long time. They compltely lied to my face and told me that they cannot tow it and we would get sued and made so many excuses. Even told me to call the city and I spoke to multiple city workers and parking enforcement for LA and they said that they needed to tow it and they have nothing to do with it because its private property. After calling multiple other towing companies for my other locations (credible ones) and speaking to their owners they told me that ARS gave me all inaccurate information and they were completely shocked. They said since the car is inoperable on a private property the tow company has to tow it and its a huge liability for the landlord because they can get cited by the city and its a fire hazard and danger to have at the building. I spent months trying to figure this out and they lied every single time. I pride myself on my work ethic and hard work and they slapped me in the face. ARS severely disappointed. Amazing service, very kind and understanding employees. I went there very upset and they were very professional and calm and helped me relax. They helped me get my car at 2am in the morning instead of making me wait a day or two like most tow companies and I really appreciate that. Both my car and a friend's car got towed because we parked at Avenue 26's parking lot for 2 hours (even though we ate tacos there, you think they would be a bit compassionate even if we were gonna explore the surrounding area, but no). Yes, it's our fault that we didn't move our car out on time, but I have to say that this business is a predatory one because the rates charged to my friends and I are extremely ridiculous even though our car was only held by them for less than an hour. The worst part is that it's located literally in skid row. My pregnant friend, me (also pregnant) and our husbands had to walk 10 minutes to this area and we were frightened for our lives. There were so many homeless and drugged up people walking in the street. If I could give this place zero stars I would, but I give it at least one star because of the worker who did come at 9:50 pm to grab our payments and then escort us around the block to our cars. If he didn't escort us, we would have been jumped by a few homeless people that were already following us when we started walking towards the area where our car was located. My friend got charged $290 for paying with cash, and I got charged $310 for paying with a debit card (they said no credit card which doesn't make sense because their sign includes rates with credit card fee). I parked my car in a lot with over a dozen other cars that seem to be parked there for much longer than what I myself intended to. It was a lot in Ktown at 698 Irolo St. LA. I was gone for about two hours, and when I came back my car was gone. So it turns out the lot was a private car, but out of all the other cars, my car was the one towed. I called this morning on a Saturday to see if I could pick it up but they we're nice enough to let me pick it up on the weekend. However, it still doesn't make sense that my car was the only one scooped out in a manner of a couple of hours while all the other cars we're intact. One thing I noticed about this company thats way different from other places (and yes I've been towed a few times before) is there professionalism and understanding I mean no one likes getting towed but it happens :/ they had a very reasonable and fair price according to city regulations. I parked at a lot that was half-full with so many cars. I got dinner and when I came back my car was gone and there was a tow car towing others. When I went to pick the car up, the area was in skid row (the most dangerous area in LA) at 547 Gladys St., LA, and my car was a bit off. I drove it out a bit as they said the lights may flash and eventually the steering wheel became very stiff. I found out that my car was towed with the parking brake on, completely destroying my car's brake system. I had to tow my car again through the car maker and had to call an Uber home. Excuse my french, but this place is bullshit. I have no idea why this place is allowed to be a business. So I come on behalf of my 70 year old uncle, who had his car towed (obviously). He doesn't speak any English. So I arrive at the location and am confused because the lobby doors won't open as there is no security guard. I call and he says to wait in the lobby and that he will send someone who will arrive in about 15 minutes. ... Okay. 15 minutes is annoying, but oh well. The lobby doors are also closed, but we'll just wait outside. 15 minutes pass. 30 minutes pass. I call multiple times because he doesn't pick up. When he answers, he says wait 10 more minutes. Also, this whole time I can BARELY understand him because he's mumbling. 10 minutes pass by. 15 minutes. 20 minutes. I'm SO TIRED OF WAITING at this point. I call again and here he comes from his office. I'm already aggravated at this wait time, but it's Sunday so maybe lack of staff or lots of work. Fine. As soon as he comes to get us, he tells us that only the car owner is allowed in. Okay, well he doesn't speak English. He says, that's fine. He just needs his license, the money, and the car keys. So, I translate. Of course my uncle was hesitant, as you can imagine. I tell him to just go and he start going, but says, Wait! I need you to write the check. They initially worked with me on the price of towing, but then when I got my car towed back from their shop, they kept increasing the price every time we spoke. Even as they were dropping it back to my house, they tried to tack on another $10 to the amount we agreed on. But, I'm writing this because a lot of the valets are working with many tow places. It's very odd that a tow truck seemed to be circling the street as I parked. It's a total racket. I took a chance, it's my bad, but when I went to pick up my car, he took his time in getting the gate open so that I can retrieve my car. I left my apartment to go to work and saw that my car was blocked in on the street. An A.R.S tow truck was parked with only an inch of space between the back of the truck and the front of my car. To top it off, the A.R.S truck was parked in a fire lane, so he wasn't even supposed to be parked there. I called the number on the truck and spoke to a dispatcher and told him that Truck #5 was blocking me in and could they please call the driver and have him move the truck. A minute later a girl comes out and is looking at the truck. I tell her "I already called the company. They're contacting the driver and he's going to move the truck" she gave me such an attitude and said "You're driving shouldn't you be able to get out of any situation" I told her it's physically impossible for me to get out because the truck is parked so close in the front and the car behind me is bumper to bumper. He walked up to my car window and asked if there was a problem and I told him I'm trying to go to work and your truck is blocking me in and told him that he's parked in a fire lane. He was very threatening and kept asking if I had a problem. I kept telling him I'm trying to go to work. He never apologized once and was angry and confrontational. Finally he moved his truck. I called the dispatcher back immediately and told him how the driver was threatening and the dispatcher told me that he thinks the driver and his girlfriend were having a fight and his threatening attitude had nothing to do with me. My car broke unfortunately broke down last night, so I called this number a friend of mine gave me, spoke to a very polite gentleman who said his name was Jason, and assured me that a driver would be at my location in 25 minutes or less and sure enough a driver by the name of Larry showed up with a flatbed, picked up my car, took it to there repair facility, my car was fixed the same day and all for an affordable price.
