The pancakes were super fluffy with this amazing cinnamon and citrus butter that took an already amazing pancake to a height I have rarely experienced. ..the next morning was the homemade cinnamon rolls. This is all made possible by two amazing inn keepers in Jim and John. They are funny, creative, awesome people whose number one goal is to make your stay incredible. They also have a barn with ducks, goats, and chickens. Meeting the animals is an experience in itself, but I have to let you experience some of the amazing things for yourself. Enjoy! We booked the massage and dinner package as well as renewed our vows in front of the mansion. I cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had during our time here. Paul was an amazing host! He puts in a lot of details into making the experience one to remember. We have never stayed at a bed-and-breakfast so we were completely surprised by how wonderful and elegant the mansion was. On Thursday when we arrived, we had our scheduled massage, followed by our ceremony, and a private dinner in the dining room. Paul even took some pictures of us and gifted us with a beautiful framed picture of me and my husband. On Friday morning, we met some wonderful guest during our breakfast, and headed out to downtown Galena. Our breakfast was an excellent and tasty homemade breakfast, so much so, that we were so excited about breakfast the next day. Although Paul is basically the face of a mansion, his wife and employee work just as hard to make it an overall beautiful experience. We will definitely be back! We know that we have other options, but we cannot say enough about this place and want to continue to support Paul like he supports and tends to his customers. Breakfast each morning was a full 3-4 courses, which was really delicious and served promptly at 8:30. We enjoyed chatting with other guests at breakfast and learning about their adventures in Galena. Communication with the Inn was frequent and easy. Four traditionally furnished bedrooms (two queens, one king, and one king suite) have tasteful colors, lots of light, and crafted details. Each of the second floor bedrooms has an en suite bathroom with different combinations of tubs and/or showers. A huge bonus is a pleasant communal kitchen at the end of the wide hallway which has a small outside landing. We stayed in the Charles Baldwin Room with a lovely four-poster bed. Peggy reviews all breakfast choices for guests with an eye to any specific dietary needs and from continental to full breakfast has generous, delicious options. The welcoming entry opens to a main floor with a quiet living room, classic dining room, and enjoyable game/billiards room. This is not a remodel; this total rebuild was done with thoughtful planning and superb craftsmanship by the owners Dan and Peggy Fisher. Many aspects of the maple window trims, pocket doors, and wood flooring were custom made by Dan and his crew. The exterior is still in process. Wood was an important economic driver of Clinton, so the woodwork is a tribute to the town. We are already revising travel plans to revisit Fisher House. That says it all.
