They arrived when they told me they would they got everything out in record time even helped fix a couple things at the house we were moving out of. I work in a position that requires every aspect of my job to be in place before the actual encounter date. I expected this company to be professionals and have everything in line before the moving date. In hindsight I see why the two moving companies I called before Garden State said they would send someone over a guy to do an estimate. The movers came and said nothing to me about not being packed correctly. I left for a moment and the foreman called Nicole and said I did not pack right. I'm no professional but I thought I did a great job. Nicole decided since I had three guys, (mind you the new guy was sick most of the move) and I did not pack right that she was raising the rate from $145 an hr. to $190 an hr. and taking away the 10% discount agreed upon in the contract. My bed is not properly put together, and I can't find screws for tv stands and other things, it's just a mess. I rely heavily on honest reviews, and I am happy that others seemed to have a good experience. Not me. BEWARE!!!

I called Garden State movers on a Saturday to which a very friendly lady took all my info, explained everything I needed to know, gave me a price, and gave me the time that they were arriving within a hour. A half hour before they came I received a phone call telling me exactly when they would arrive. When the 2 gentlemen arrived they introduced they're selves with a hand shake, and they then scoped out the job first. I questioned them that there was only 2 of them, how would they be be able to lift the vanity even though they Both were pretty buff. They had the vanity and the top in the bathroom in matter of 10 minutes. They were both very careful watching that they didn't drop or bang the vanity. In two days I sat in a chair while they went completely through every nook and cranny in my home and with my direction divided all of my furniture and belongings into 3 groups- things I would keep, things they would donate, and trash which will be removed when I have the whole house emptied. The tricky part is that they lowball the estimate and when they true it up to the actual cost you have no choice but to pay the price. In addition, there are typically many extra costs that are never communicated upfront. I was very concerned about the primitive road that led to my property, but the sales rep was adamant that smaller trucks could deliver and a scout truck would guide the delivery truck. Pure fiction. My delivery driver unloaded everything himself without assistance to a storage unit 23 miles from my home. Numerous items were broken and I lost a few items as well. The $6000 I spent was a colossal waste of money. I could have done the same thing renting a Uhaul truck at a third of the cost. Never again.

This is the most unprofessional company and people we have ever encountered. There were so many things that went wrong but here are a few to highlight and to warn people before they get in business with them. DO NOT HIRE THEM! 1. PACKING (See pictures)- Dishes and cups were just thrown in boxes with no packing material. They also used the truck blankets to cover our dishes, cups, utensils because they didn't bring packing material and is so unsanitary because they use them for covering floors or the trucks. We actually provided them with the packing paper, tape, and scissors to half ass the packing that they did. They didn't even label any boxes so we have no idea where anything is until we unbox everything. We paid for a whole house moving and it even stated on the contract "packing ALL materials. They only packed 70% of our kitchen only and nothing else. We ended up having to go back to the house and fill our SUV multiple times to pack the rest of the house. 2. Their guys were under the influence and smelled like they had just did it in their car before they came into the house. One guy was wearing sunglasses even though it was raining and cloudy the day of the move. I imagine for a service job like a moving company, that should be completely unacceptable but the owner seemed fine with it. I didn't feel comfortable with random people coming into my home and moving our valuables while they're high. They also went through our pantry and ate our toddlers snacks and even decided to throw a couple bags of popcorn in the microwave which they ate halfway and just left the rest on the kitchen counters. 3. Wall and furniture damage (see pictures) they simply said "oh shit my bad" when we pointed it out. They didn't wrap our couch cushions or tables and they're all scratched up and stained from being thrown in the truck. We asked them to fix these things and they said they're too busy for it. It clearly stated on the contract "wrap all items with shrink wrap for maximum protection" LIES. 4. They brought their 10 year old kid on the job who just kept grabbing little things throughout the house and throwing it on the back of the truck. Probably a good idea to ask the customer if bringing your child to the job site is okay beforehand. 5. Appliance damage- they lost hardware for my fridge and washing machine. They also didn't connect the washing machine correctly so when we turned it on, it flooded our laundry room. We asked them to fix it but no one reached out because they said they're too busy. I'm still looking for my desk hardware which they disassembled. 6. Moving items to where they go- I imagine part of a moving job is putting things where they go. These guys didnt do it but when we asked them to put heavy stuff or boxes to where they go, they gave us an attitude for it. We kind of got scared to ask them to move stuff towards the end because they just kept giving us dirty looks and attitude for doing their job we paid for. 7. Terrible customer service- I have tried to reach out to the owner, George Williams many times and he has ignored my calls and texts. I finally get in contact with him today. He was extremely rude and told me "I have other customers besides you". He then texts me "not to call or text him anymore because he wants to get his attorney involved". Dude, you and your company did an extremely terrible job for a service I PAID FOR and you don't want to discuss or fix anything? What the hell kind of company is this? We have 2 young kids so the moving was already stressful but this company just made it 1,000 times worse. There are many moving companies so I would avoid this company.
