I'm long overdue on this review, but I attended a 2-day course in April at SixSigma. The weather was miserable, but Dylan did everything he could to ensure things stayed up beat and that we got in a ton of learning. He is a phenomenal instructor and can correct your body position from watching you ride, which was hugely advantageous. I feel like learning how to maintain one's center of gravity while riding is the hardest thing to learn. Just finished a two day clinic with Dylan at Arastradero and had a great time! The sessions start with cone based drills on flat terrain and then progress to the trails where you'll practice those skills in the wild. My wife and I took Dylan's class today and it was great. We are very different in our mountain bike riding abilities, I'm riding since I'm 6, she started riding when she was 18. Me and some coworkers did a half day private clinic with Dylan. What an epic day. Would recommend it for anybody, regardless of skill level. Dylan is a true mountain bike nerd in the best way possible, waxing poetic about physics and geometry and why things work the way that they work and the interplay between your body and your bike. He does it all in a way that's fun and inclusive and approachable, and he breaks down concepts that can be so overly complicated into digestible nuggets. Did a two day skilz class with a buddy up in Truckee and loved it. Helped me better understand the trails and how to approach various features and bike more competently and safely. At first we didn't quite get the parking lot work, but then we came to understand the balance and the underpinning of the skills and their usefulness out on the trail. Like many people I recently bought a mountain bike. It's fun to bomb downhill with reckless abandon but I needed to reign it in and figure out how to ride correctly. The day long Women's MTB Skills Clinic was invaluable in learning new skills and correcting bad habits I've developed. I'm a newbie on the MTB and lacked confidence. I have no problem bombing downhill but when it came to tackling more technical features I was nervous which had me hesitate to try more challenging trails. Dylan took us back to the basics and had us immediately apply these basics in a flat, safe environment. He coached us each individually as we made the rounds. There were so many seemingly little things that I never realized I was doing that hampered my improvement. We took to the trail at the last quarter of the day and applied some of what we learned. Dylan encouraged us to relax and notice the experience in our bodies. He stressed that riding was more Zen and focus than wrangling our bikes down rugged terrain. I applied just a few things on my ride the following day and WOW! I felt my confidence boost and my riding so much more joyous and controlled! I had the opportunity to jump into a Skills Clinic at the last minute just before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Amy from Singletrack Mind was extremely accommodating to my last minute request and walk me through all the necessary steps to register on their site. She provided exceptional customer service and made me feel welcomed into the MTB community. Dylan was a great instructor and helped me really focused on weight distribution as well as body position (chest forward) during the downhill turns. I did the 2 day course this past weekend and it was an awesome experience. I've been riding for a few years but never had coaching and had only heard good things. Dylan is a great instructor and has a solid list of drills and experiences on the trail that you go through. At times during the drills he will record and review video with you do that you can start to add a visual reference to better understand the guidance he gives. I am without a doubt a better rider and the best part is that I now have the framework to better understand what I feel while riding. I've been riding having a bike my entire life and seriously riding a mtb for about the past year. I was hesitant to do the fundamentals class, but it was worth so much more than I expected. Dylan is really good at breaking down the fundamentals, which, if you're a seasoned rider that hasn't formally learned these things, is invaluable! The women's core class was on point and just enough instruction that makes you feel confident (rather than overwhelmed). Dylan's personality is a great compliment to ladies new to the mountain bike scene. He kept a great balance between group lesson and 1:1 coaching. Took a 2 day workshop on MTB fundamentals and it was an amazing experience. The one thing about Dylan is that even though it is a group lesson, he is very intent in watching everyone and giving each one personal feedback - it's almost like having a private with him. Great teacher and effective after the first lesson! Dylan went through the basics of balance then lifts. He focuses on body mechanics to help explain why the body reacts the way it does. Took the One Day MTB Fundamentals Course with Dylan on 1/10/21 and it was a blast. Class size was relatively small (6 students) and lots of hands on training. It was awesome when Dylan guided the group through a local trail at Folsom Lake so that we can apply what we've learned I. The morning. We stopped along the way and Dylan spent a good amount of time showing us the proper line through the turns, the do's and don't, and took us through some technical trails as well (rock garden, biking up and riding down a granite boulder. Simply awesome!!! I'm looking forward to the next training course with Dylan. Highly recommend the class. Dylan was an excellent instructor. I took skills class which was over 2 days in Palo Alto. Dylan is a fire hydrant of information about mountain biking. There were 4 things I learned from him that made the entire class worth it (my seat was too low, on downhills I was sitting too low, on fast turns I need to lean the bike and not twist the handle and puncture flats can be fixed with a simple tape like repair patch). I learned other thing as well those were just the 4 that stuck out as "it was worth it if for no other reason that I learned these things". I think the other 7 ppl taking the class also got their money's worth but on completely different topics/bits of advice. What was so great is Dylan is just constantly talking/giving useful tidbits of information so no matter where you are in expertise level or what you're struggling with there's something super valuable to pick up. read more

He walked us through key aspects of the bike and how to tune them/modify them to maximize fun factor while riding.After that spent two full days going over fundamentals, practicing them on trail and in parking lot under keen eye of Dylan.I walked away a better rider after that weekend with complete awareness of what I need to do while riding on a trail vs just hoping and praying!. I took a 2-Day Core Fundamentals Skills Clinic last weekend at Wilder Ranch in Santa Cruz. I learned more about mountain biking fundamentals and technique in those two days, then I have in 15 months of riding/practicing myself, You Tube-videoing, MTBR-reading, etc.... Simply put, Dylan is a great instructor. He explains both the how and the why, demonstrates effectively, and provides drills/practice sessions that really help you to hone in your skill. He has a sharp and watchful eye, and provides consistent great feedback as you practice. All the hallmarks of exemplary instruction. Best part of the clinic was that on "hard to get/feel" concepts, he would work individually with you, holding the bike up, and placing you in the right positions so you can actually feel what correct is. This is so key to internalizing something that you've never done before. He really does a great job. BTW, I'd also like to mention that he's an exemplary rider and a really cool guy to boot. The women's MTB fundamentals class I was in had 8 women of varying ages and experience. We learned some mountain bike setup principles and practiced basic skills in the parking lot before going on a short ride. I've never felt so confident on a single track as I was on the ride. Like magic, many of the things we learned earlier in the daylong class actually manifested in my riding. Well, not everything...but I certainly rode better than prior to the class. Dylan is a good teacher, with a sharp eye, good feedback, and praise when earned. We received a follow up email with a concise review of most of the day's teaching.
