This place gets 10 stars and I wish I could live here honestly!…read more After downhill skiing for over 10+ years, and to be honest, while I can fly down mountains, I just dont have a deathwish to meet my maker after a snow run, so finally I got to cross country (XC) ski on this trip to Tahoe. We tried once a long while ago in Crested Butte but there was no snow, but today in Tahoe, I was rewarded with so much snow! Yippee! I skied here all weekend and really enjoyed that this was the first place I have ever XC skied! I will remember this forever. On the first day, I just rented some classic skis and went out there to figure it out. It wasn't too bad until I was trying to reach the lodge after 2.5 hours of skiing and could not figure out how to stop lol. I decided then that I needed a lesson. But, I still had a lot of fun and got to ski at least 5K or maybe more. On day 2, I came for a group classic ski lesson with Riley and no one else signed up, so I got the instructor all to myself, sweet! Riley was an awesome instructor, he taught me how to herringbone up steep hills, taught me how to stop with the pizza method but also gave good instruction on form so I knew to really pivot my ankles to get good grip of the snow to stop. The trick is bend your knees and make sure you bring your knees closer as you make the pizza with your skis. He taught me really well and gave me a lot of confidence to come down hills and this lesson was very helpful for today especially when I came back to the lodge and was able to ski down with ease and no falling like on day one. The staff here are so friendly and helpful! Jill was amazing and hope to see her again. Cathy who checked me in was just very sweet and we connected on the DMV area. Bernie was also super nice when I came back on day one and asked me how'd it went, and of course, Riley was the star, pushing me and teaching me to be a better XC skier! Mathias was also sweet collecting all my equipment and making sure I had everything when I left on day 2. I had lunch here on day 2 in the lodge and it was vegetarian chili wirh cornbread muffin and it was delicious and just what I needed to power thru an additional 2.5 hours of skiing. I also met a XC racer today and he told me about XC 10Ks and 20Ks and said next weekend, they are racing to fundraise for Tahoe Search and Rescue, and these are the guys out there trying to find those that were caught in the avalanche. My next thing is probably learning to better XC ski and then ultimately, to do one of these XC races to help with fundraising, looks like a lot fun, great for endurance and staying in shape and for a great cause! Thanks Bob for the amazing conversation! Because of this experience here but also because I knew XC would be more my speed, Im now totally devoted to this vs downhill and ready to invest in skis, boots and poles, which I never really cared to with downhill. XC is a lot of endurance and reminds me a bit of running and hiking so this is really up my alley. I also like the core strength thats needed when pushing yourself along when you have some momentum. Also, to note, XC skiing has way less people, so its super peaceful and meditative and so much cheaper than downhill skiing. This is definitely the ski sport I am devoting the rest of my life to! No more suicide downhill skiing for me! Ill definitely be back here again for next season's XC skiing and really looking forward to coming back! May also do some MTBing here if I cant wait until next winter!

We dropped in on a Saturday at about 10:30am, got our trail passes, and rented snow shoes from them ($27 per adult I believe). We took the pink Dog Snowshoe route out, then connected to the light blue Outer Blue trail to get back to the lodge. It probably took us 1.5 hours going at a leisurely pace. Most of the time we didn't see anyone else around. There were some across county skiers and dogs that would pass us on occasion, but it was mostly a beautiful and quiet hike (except for the snow shoes crunching on the snow). This is a great place to have a causal and affordable little adventure.

I called every mountain biking shop in Truckee. I decided to go with Dirt Gypsy Adventures and a private mountain biking clinic and mountain bike ride with our instructor (Mark). I couldn't have asked for it to go any better... my girlfriend learned a ton (and I learned a handful of things too) and it helped her feel more confident on the trails. At first, I didn't understand how we could spend 2 hours learning how to ride a bike - I quickly realized what I didn't know and how patient Mark was. I particularly loved his analogies and the way he articulated these concepts. We also rented a bike for the following morning and went out by ourselves, too. She's now riding with friends in the Bay Area this weekend and we've looked at a couple bikes for her. Mark, our instructor, did a great job - lifetime of experiences racing and teaching. I couldn't have asked for more. The whole process facilitated by Ryan went extremely smooth. Thank you!

Upon arrival my bike was ready to go in 5 minutes. We did a quick fit and, this is clutch, they spent time looking at my planned route and gave some feedback. For my return, same took about 5 minutes. The bike itself was in great condition.

From start to finish, it was exceptional -- and it's all thanks to your amazing team and the extra touches that made the day so special. Emma and Jane deserve a huge shout-out for their outstanding customer service. Their kindness, enthusiasm, and genuine excitement added so much joy to my first-ever clear kayaking adventure. They made me feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way, turning what could have been just another outing into an unforgettable 49th memory. Emma not only climbed rocks to ensure my photo was one of a kind she treated us (my friend Candace & I) like she'd known us for years! You can't fake you love what you do for work- Emma lovesssss rock climbing and nature - and you WILL feel that from her And now to Jane, who highly encouraged my cowboy boot photo shoot!! What a perfect, unexpected bonus! It brought so many laughs and made my birthday feel uniquely me. The combination of gliding through the water in a clear kayak and capturing that moment with a fun, creative twist is something I'll cherish forever. Thank you for doing what you do -- for creating not just a service, but an experience that celebrates people and makes them feel special. You truly made my birthday one I'll never forget, and I'm already looking forward to my next adventure with you. P.S- I still feel Kayak/Paddle-board speed dating, is something you need to look into adding! With heartfelt appreciation, Amber (#sacramento) Also, say hello to Enrique (the famous soccer player)!
