I did the stand up paddling boarding tour with Jeff and his wife and they did a fabulous job on guiding the tour.

Looked to Yelp to help me find a tour that worked for us and happy to find Tahoe Lake Tours! Booking online was easy enough. Looking on Wednesday for a Friday morning time slot and there it was: 9:30-1:30 was perfect. The web site states exactly what will happen during the 4 hours and offers a phone number to call for questions. Parking and check in were easy and Captain Dan was ready for us. The boat was clean and well stocked with life jackets that fit for both adults and children (ages 8,6,4) as well as water bottles. Before leaving the dock we were offered water for a cooler which we didn't need but the offer was appreciated. Our 4 hours: 1. Safety information 2. Review of our preferences for the tour 3. Lots of history of the area as we toured 4. Emerald Bay & Mrs. Knights castle 5. Water tubing (first time for the grandkids) 6. Hang out time for a snack (we brought lots LOL) 7. Back to the marina Dan was very knowledgeable and great with the kids. We would definitely book with Tahoe Lake Tours again and request Captain Dan. Thank you for a great ending to our week in Tahoe!

Captain Troy was accommodating, kind, hospitable, professional and knowledgeable. He took us to breathtaking sites including Emerald Bay, Fannette Island, Vikingsholm, and Rubicon Bay. We enjoyed swimming in the crystal water and never felt rushed. He provided swim floaties, a cooler with cold beverages, and let us take our time to have so much fun. He even called in advance to accommodate a better start time to ensure we had the best weather. We could not have asked for a more perfect day. Booking was easy and he answered all my questions beforehand. We highly recommend this company.

Geology Tours Tahoe, feels like you're in a Jumani type of adventure with fun hands-on science learning and experience. Signing up for this I didn't know what to expect, as this is beyond my comfort zone, dealing with high terrain, and digging for crystals. But Dr. Montana Hodges made the event so fun in a way that even a non-science person like myself was really engaged. We traveled 45 minutes up a bumpy road with plenty of beverages and snacks that would have lasted a few days! Then we made it to our destination where we learned of the history of Crystal Peak, and how the Truckee river came to be and the various Prehistoric eras. There were plenty of tools to pick and choose from in a group of 7 of us. This definitely was a Sunday adventure to never forget. I was able to luckily find a crystal, so I felt accomplished. There are several tours that Montana provides that I would love to attend! She is very engaging and personable that I felt a connection to Science that I may not have had when I was taking Geology in College. It was neat to learn about Jurassic park, and how the dinosaurs were technically from a different prehistoric era than depicted. Also given the fact that Montana dedicated half of her day to take us on our high terrain excursion, and then had a long hours drive ahead of her the same day was beyond impressive! I'll definitely be looking to plan another Tour adventure and see what other learnings are in store!

During peak season this park is FULL, but big enough to find a space of your own on the beach with lots of shade trees and picnic tables. Because we arrived in the afternoon, China Cove was windy and not suitable for kayaking. Instead, I went for a walk on the interpretive trail and visited the visitor's center. From China Cove to the Visitor's Center, it's about a mile. For my effort, I received two nasty insect bites. Consider bringing repellant. When you visit the Visitor's Center, it has A/C, great displays, places to sit and watch informative videos, and a water dispenser to refill your water bottle. For indoor and outdoor activities, I highly recommend this park

Beautiful forest setting with large lake. We did not have any interaction with staff, and most of the time that is a good thing. One star down, though, because the token machine for the showers was out of order, and if there are camp hosts, we didn't see them. I always research the sites before I reserve, some are much nicer and secluded than others. Lots of people come for day use also, so if you are headed to the lake from your campsite, go early to choose your beach spot for the day.

He has an incredible knowledge of Virginia City and Northern Nevada history, but he shares it in a way that's engaging, funny, and easy to follow. His sense of humor was the perfect mix of clever and classic jokes, which kept both the adults and the kids entertained! Before we even stepped into the mine, Gary sat us under a tree and told the story of Virginia City and The Comstock Load. I've lived in Northern Nevada for years, and he still taught me things I had never heard before! It was a great reminder of just how much fascinating history we have right here in our own backyard. I also appreciated how patient and thoughtful he was with everyone in our group, especially the children and those who needed a little extra time walking through the mine. He made sure everyone felt included. As a bonus, Gary is also an author! I ended up buying one of his books (I collect children's books for my office), and he has written other books too. I may have to buy the others with my next visit. Whether you're visiting from out of town, or you've lived here for years, the Chollar Mine Tour is absolutely worth experiencing. We had a wonderful time and plan to come back with more friends and family! p.s. Ask for a ghost story or two!
