Unfortunately, we did not have an opportunity to deal with any of them. We had our contact with their weak employees. My wife's recent involvement with the company began on May 19th. She was evaluated for a new set of orthotics to replace a set that has worn down from use. This should have been an easy process. Her current set was photographed and a cast of her foot was taken. After several weeks, she received a call notifying her that she could make an appointment to pick up the new set. Upon looking at the new set, she immediately notified Will the employee making the delivery that the set he was giving her was totally incorrect and she showed him her existing set and provided a detailed description of the error. Will probably understood but claimed that since someone else handled the initial evaluation she should try using them. According to the card she was given the person that did the evaluation is named Ross. Mistakes do happen; however, Will's handling of the problem was unprofessional and inexcusable. We took the set to her doctor. He took one look at them and said they belonged to someone else. As a result, we made another trip to the Bay Orthopedic office to return them. Ross accepted them and took some additional pictures of the set she uses. A corrective order was supposed to be submitted by Ross. This visit occurred on June 28th. Last week my wife called a couple of times to get a delivery status of the replacement orthotics. Both times she was told that she would receive a call back with the information. She never received the return call. As a result, on Monday August 7th I made the call to request the status and explained the entire scenarios, as well as the fact that her calls were never returned. The return call I was supposed to receive never happened. I called them again on Tuesday August 8th only this time I was a little cranky. Because I requested to speak with "the boss", Carol Mangino picked up the call. She asked what she could do to accommodate my wife. Since my wife lost all faith in their competence, she wanted a refund. Ms. Mangino promptly honored that request. Although my wife will have to start over after a wasted three months this error had a minimum impact, because they tried to dump an incorrect product on a person who knew if she used it she would increase her pain level. The reason I am writing all of because Bay Orthopedic delivers some complex prosthetics to patients not as savvy as my wife. If one of those products were delivered to a child or an adult with a disability in the manner Will delivered my wife's orthotics that child or adult could experience unnecessary pain or injury. If by any chance you are wondering if they ever did order the replacement orthotics, I don't know. My wife just wanted to be finished with them so she settled on the refund. I expect that Ms. Mangino knows, so you can ask her.

Yesterday was my first visit here and I was very impressed with the entire staff…read more I first sat down and filled out the necessary paperwork for a first time visitor. They accept my union medical coverage which is definitely a plus. Shortly after filling out the paperwork I was called in to have my eyes examined...very professional, thorough process. I needed just a touch stronger reading glasses than I currently had, and the progressive lenses were explained to me as I good option. I went back outside to pick out frames. They have a large selection to choose from, and offer good opinions on styles. The frames are also reasonably priced. Finally the frames and lenses were measured and my visit for the day was complete, and my new glasses should be ready in a few days. Everyone who works there is knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Out of pocket expenses seem minimal. And the location is easy access with ample parking. I highly recommend Central Nassau Optical!

UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE - Disrespectful and dishonest…read more Before the exam, I presented my insurance voucher. No one mentioned any issue with coverage. The doctor finally saw me (25 minutes after my appointment time) and only AFTER the exam was completed did Vanessa at the front desk suddenly claim it "doesn't cover contact lenses." This should have been communicated upfront. Anything else feels misleading at best. Felt extremely deceptive and dishonest on their part. When my mom calmly asked for clarification, Vanessa became increasingly condescending and dismissive, speaking to her in a patronizing tone. Another employee then inserted herself into the situation and immediately escalated it by raising her voice and talking over us. At NO point at all were we being rude. There was no reason for them to be hostile. We were simply asking reasonable questions. My mom doesn't speak perfect English, and the way they addressed her felt unnecessarily harsh and lacking in basic respect or patience. It created a very uncomfortable dynamic that no customer should have to deal with. I had to call them out on this and told them that they were being rude, to which they simply doubled down. Even after repeatedly asking why we weren't just INFORMED about the lack of coverage before the exam, no one could provide a straight answer...just deflection and attitude. Not only have I been to a handful of different eye doctors before and have never experienced this, but also I've been coming here since I was a child for my glasses, which makes this even more disappointing. This office lacks transparency, accountability, and respect for its clients. They are perfectly willing to provide services without clearly explaining costs. And then they'll try to treat you poorly if you question it. Take your money somewhere that actually values honesty and basic customer service.
