No longer! I dropped in two weeks ago and was floored by the selection of silks, linens, shirting cottons, wools, and knits. Are you looking for a Calvin Klein wool? Silk duponi? French cotton? Italian shirting cotton? She has it. If you're looking for a sequined knit, a sheer crepe de chine, a lightweight wool crepe... she also has it. Frankly I'm amazed at the size and quality of her selection, especially for the small size of the storefront. The owner has all the long 60" rolls of silk and linen up against one wall, which makes for a beautiful display and shopping experience. You can get a sense of the scale of the pattern as well as the weight, and drape of the fabric without ever having to make a scene unrolling and clumsily holding up a bolt of fabric. I found a beautiful silk that was patterned with the NY city skyline, and have been dreaming of it ever since. My first visit, I found a beautiful patterned french cotton remnant that I sewed into a beautiful apron for my cousin...unlike most quilting cottons, it's the kind of patterned cotton that doesn't have a discernible repeat, and it has thrilled each and every one of my friends who has come over and seen it on my sewing table. My next visit I brought a friend, and she found a beautiful textured black nettle fabric from Nepal that will make an amazing statement skirt -- it has a subtle gold sheen to it and looks just like something you'd find at Anthropologie. Even better, it was only $8/yard. That's right, in addition to stocking high end $40/yd fabrics, the shop has a lot of amazing options for those on a budget, too. The owner has even thoughtfully packaged "made boxes" where you can buy a prepacked box of fabric and notions that you will need to take one of the beginner classes at Made. What a great way to introduce someone to sewing -- now they don't need to worry about picking the wrong fabric type or yardage for their project! Additionally, the owner is super thoughtful. I found a snakeskin print that I liked that I thought might work for a Halloween costume, if it came in green. The owner called the manufacturer for me, determined that it didn't, and remembered to tell me so on my next visit in. She even offered to keep an eye open for me on her next trip to the LA fashion district. Ladies and gentlemen, you CANNOT beat that service!

I knew it was risky and the timeframe was really short and long story short it ended up being a bad choice - the dress I ordered was awful! With only one week before my wedding I rushed to Davids Bridal to try to find a dress off the rack. Obviously though, going to a bridal shop, non-traditional dresses are hard to come by and the best I could find was a cute ivory tea length, A-line dress. I really wanted something colorful and floral still so I found some floral tulle at JoAnne's and then searched for a local seamstress to see if anyone local could figure out something to do with my boring ivory dress, and in just a matter of days! Oh and the shoulders needed to be taken in as well!! Mandy was quick to respond, invited me to her home-based shop and said she could do it and would have it done by the next day!! It was even better than I expected! Like a whole new dress and fit like a glove!! I felt absolutely beautiful and received countless compliments! I highly recommend Mandy! The co-owner Keri, helped me with a large blanket I was working on where a stitch had fallen off several rows behind where I was working on straight needles. She spent a good deal of time pulling out several rows to correct & then put me in circular needles-which she just gave me to finish my blanket. She went above & beyond to help me, was kind, generous with her time incredibly helpful and provided excellent instructions to help prevent my mishap from happening again! After using the Port Townsend Cleaners that was the only…read moreoption after the one next to Don's Pharmacy closed (it was excellent) I took a beautiful Pendleton wool blanket to be dry cleaned before storing it for summer to the PT cleaners near the Goodwill store. When I got it back it was covered with either cat or rat hair that was imbedded in the wool. This blanket had NEVER been exposed to a cat or dog--or rat. I took it back. They supposedly recleaned it but it still looked exactly the same. No apology and no refund of $50. I took it to a cleaners in Poulsbo next. Same story. Finally I took it to Good Impressions and within the week the blanket was as clean as when we bought it a year before. No special charge at all. Since then it is the only dry cleaners we use. Always excellent! Always friendly and on time.
