THEY'RE CLOSED! I was in the neighborhood today and saw building for lease I bought a gorgeous mirror there. So sad.

This consignment store was located behind the Pickle Barrel where we had had lunch. Its window looked intriguing so we decided to stop by. I liked it as soon as we entered. Once inside you can walk around in a circle. The store itself is much much larger than you can picture from the outside and it is jam packed with home decor, furniture, paintings, china, knick knacks, jewelry, etc. etc. They have true antiques as well as just previously used items. Everything is not a jumble, however. It is very artfully arranged. Price tags are readily visible -- and prices are pretty good. No matter what, you will find something within your price range. The items themselves are lovely or intriguing or attractive. Pick your favorite adjective and it will apply. There were a lot of things we oohed and aahed over -- from Asian hand painted China dishware to intricate wood desks; from a leather sofa to a peacock shaped fireplace set. It's the kind of place, you'll want to go back to several times. As a consignment shop, they get new items frequently. I can picture the Boca and Palm Beach decorators coming here to buy and then marking up their items several times before reselling them. If you're smart, you'll come here first. read more

Wow! I had a great time yesterday exploring this amazing gem of a store. Deb, the proprietor, was gracious and kind as we walked around the store. Beautiful selection of quality items. The white sofa in my photo has feather-filled cushions and is very dreamy. Loved the woven rocking chairs in the same pic as the sofa. The shop is sunny and bright and easy to navigate. I stumbled upon this place via a FB ad. Originally going for a sofa, which after measuring, would not fit. However; I did not leave empty handed. I ended up looking around, and not to toot my own horn, I do have an eye for what can work with a little ingenuity. I left there with a beautiful blonde ratton chair, a blonde multi tier set of end tables (which matched a coffee table I had picked up in Goodwill) as well as a refurbed/painted Retro Deco console table which I used for my television, along with a beautiful rope macrame beach boho dining light. I go back every couple of months when I see something of interest. If it doesn't work, that is fine. I always leave with something interesting, eclectic and beautiful to enhance my living space. Might I add, their delivery service is unmatchable. Great price and extremely conscientious of the pieces getting to the place of delivery in the same shape you bought it in! I hate to recommend this place and keep this secret close to my heart, but the owners are so kind and gracious, I cannot, out of keeping a good conscience. Go! You will not be disappointed! I stumbled on this consignment store while getting lunch at the Pickle Barrel. I couldn't leave the plaza without checking it out. As soon as I opened the door I was impressed. They have 10,000 square feet of amazing shopping. You more in a circle through elegantly decorated rooms. Items are pleasingly arranged in tableaus throughout the store. Furniture, decor, china, lamps, art, jewelry, glass, and antiques, they have it all. You can view some of their inventory on their website. They even have an opium bed, something I had never seen before. If you are selling items you can drop them off but they also have pickup service. Prices seemed reasonable and everything is negotiable. Do your homework and make an offer. There were so many things here I loved. read more

Have done business with this place over the years with no issues. I do question some of the reviews if real or not. When you turn over items to them you put down a price that the owner Deb feels she can get. When they sell it you never really know what they got for it let alone which item was sold. You just get a check usually for a lot less than your receipt reflected. Debbie one of the owners has some emotional issues and is not exactly customer friendly. Suggest you really understand what is the lowest you will take and put as much on paper as possible. Folks in this business are like pawn shop employee's or maybe used car salesmen. So just hope for the best but go with eyes open if going for consignment. read more

This is a very well laid out and nicely vetted shop; they clearly don't take just anything, and most of the pieces were in very good shape, and there were a few unique and exquisite finds; the woman at the desk is very friendly and does not, as in many other consignment and antique boutiques, trail around behind you asking annoying questions while promising to leave you alone... she actually just says hello and leaves you alone. Very laid back, and made browsing much more enjoyable than the squawking hens do at other stores. The only noise was a pleasant colorful bird climbing about near the front desk. read more

It is hit or miss with one of the owners name Deb. She is definitely not customer focused. Her partner, Mike, is equally as unconcerned about customer loyalty and interaction. Went back to the store after a month hiatus hoping a certain item was still there. After being introduced to the store owner, Deb, I tried to engage in a conversation with her about said item. Deb, was disinterested in having a conversation! Instead in a rude and condescending tone berated my remarks and made several nasty replies during our conversation. Had A Summer Place Consignment pick up several pieces of furniture from my home as we were moving to a condo and had to downsize. The driver arrived right at the scheduled time. He and his helper were very careful when taking items out of house. The following month, much to my delight, I received a check for the items that were sold. After my move, I realized I had to get rid of more items. This time I delivered several items to their store. I received another check in just a few short weeks. Well, Adam, I'm so thrilled your wife likes the store. She has obviously bought and not had them sell anything for her. But if you're the consignor, they are a rude couple of Yankees. Even their info sheet is off-putting: "WE SET THE PRICES, NOT YOU" "YOU CALL US....WE DON'T CALL" In other words, "YOU PLAY BY OUR RULES....WE DON'T PLAY BY YOURS" For lovely, classy, friendly folks, go on up to Church Mouse in Palm Beach, just a block off Worth Avenue. We downsized and thought we'd give A Summer Place a try...selling our art. My previous experiences with consignment stores have not been fruitful, this was different. Everyone who works there is very helpful and knowledgeable. Bottom line, two of my four art pieces sold easily for what was expected. Then a couple of months later they called me that there was a returned check; I had moved, it was for the remaining two pieces. Very honorable establishment. I am now using them for a never used bedroom set. read more

The shop is owned by two partners, a male and a female. Be careful with the male partner. He will tell you one thing to make the sale, but not follow through. He said he would take in a couple pieces of mine to sell at the shop and that is why I made the purchase that I made. However, upon arriving at my home to deliver the piece that I purchased, he changed his little mind about taking my pieces. He is a LIAR. From what I hear, he is doing this to a lot of people. The items in the shop are real nice, but beware of the deal you make with this poor excuse for a business partner. Get it in writing first. The way in which the deal was handled negates any of the positive aspects of the place in my opinion. read more
