    Gourmet Section

A favorite place to shop and browse, especially the Gourmet food section! Lots of International goods that are imported for and by TJMAX populate shelves and towers with everything from Soup to nuts, literally. We were browsing for some "healthy snacks" like dates, figs and apricots. Some how Italian Lemon Cookies jumped into my arms as I was innocently browsing some varieties of Salt with various herbs and spices. Lots of upscale beverages; Elderflower carbonated soda, (if it was more than 2 glasses worth I would have got it), Root Beer with Bavarian Nutmeg, and assorted Ginger beers. Many varieties and types of natural honey, olive oil and the like. I also spotted a large bottle of Avocado Oil that intrigued me as I thought how it would mix with some premium grade Balsamic Vinegar, or perhaps with some grainy mustard and just a spoon of mayo.....

Always buy at this store, I probably buy here as much as I buy from Amazon and that's a lot. Came for a chair to be able to work from home, the chair had some scratches on the legs I asked for $10 discount and the manager refused to reduce anything beyond $5. Mind you I will have to repaint the legs to cover the scratches. Lost $90 sale over $5.00. To be perfectly honest, it was more about the lady's attitude than the actual $5.00. HomeGoods in this economy you have to find people that care.

The chair on the right, had the panels that is off falling off? The screw holes are worn, like someone attempted to fix it before.

Barbara Brickell Designs is an absolutely wonderful interior decorator. It took me several months…read moreof searching for an interior decorator before I found Barbara. Most interior decorators only design for high end properties but Barbara designs for both high end properties and yachts while also amenable to small projects. Thank goodness! Barbara has a depth of experience and knows how to listen to the client. She took all of my comments and added her knowledge to come up with a design, furniture and accessories that were within my budget of $10,000. Barbara gives you choices so if you want to spend a little more or a little less in one area you have options. My explicit desire was to have a blue accent wall downstairs. I LOVE my blue accent walls. Barbara chose a blue color that added a WOW factor when you walked into the home. Barbara managed the whole project, coordinated the furniture delivery, painters and electricians. She even made trips to several spots to pick up items. She incorporated almost all of my accessories and paintings in the final design. She is a perfectionist and goes more than the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect. She designed the living room, dining room, power room while selecting paint colors for all rooms and hanging paintings in every room of the house. While the final cost was slightly less than $10,000 I feel the value of the home increased by more than $10,000. I am absolutely thrilled with all of Barbara's work which only took 4 days of actually working in my home. Barbara is quick and efficient and, above all, you can completely trust her judgment. If you are looking for an interior designer you will be very pleased with Barbara Brickell Designs.

We love to visit lighthouses when we can and decided to see this also. At Hillsboro Park, we came across this museum and decided to explore. It is a one room museum filled with information about the lighthouse that was built in 1907. You can sign up for boat tours to visit the Lighthouse once a month thru the museum. It is free. Only 8 people can comfortably fit inside, so there is a waitline. But it goes fast. Some people choose to climb up the outside of the Lighthouse at their own risk. Others climb the 175 stairs inside to get to the top. This museum is not funded by the US government, so they offer Lighthouse items for sale at this museum to maintain the Lighthouse and Museum. They sell t-shirts, pictures, postcards, attire, mugs, booklets, and other items. The lady who works here was very helpful in explaining the history of the Hillsboro Lighthouse. She is very nice and welcomes everyone. It was a pleasure to learn about the Museum. We also enjoyed the park it is located at.

The park offers a beautiful view of the boats in the inlet and a view of the Hillsboro Lighthouse. The Hillsboro Lighthouse Museum is around the corner from the restrooms, blink and you might miss it. The one room museum is run by the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society which was founded in 1997 to preserve the Hillsboro Lighthouse which is located across the inlet from the museum. The Preservation Society does not get any funding from the US government. All of the money that goes to keeping the lighthouse operating is provided by their fundraising and whatever grants they can get. To raise money they sell lighthouse memberships and they give tours once a month. The land the lighthouse sits on is controlled by the US Coast Guard so you can only visit during the Preservation Society's tours. They also sell lighthouse themed items while giving the tours and in the museum. They host a lighthouse gala once a year and sell tickets to that as well. The small museum at Hillsboro Inlet park is only one room. They sell shirts, lighthouse themed items, postcards, notecards, mugs, plates, and coasters. Displays in the museum focus on information about the Hillsboro Lighthouse and The Barefoot Mailmen who were eleven US postal workers who delivered the mail in South Florida from 1885 to 1893 by walking barefoot on the beach from Palm Beach to Miami. Before the mailman started the route, a letter from Lake Worth to Miami could take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to arrive and would be routed through Cuba. The annual salary of a Barefoot Mailman was $600 a year. The trip started on Monday and took three days to get to Miami, Then they would turn around and come back for a round trip of 136 miles. Eighty miles were walking and fifty six miles were by boat. The three day trek down the coast was not without it's danger. You can find statues and markers dedicated to them all down the coast from Lantana to Miami. Barefoot Mailman James "Ed" Hamilton mysteriously vanished in 1897 while crossing the Hillsboro Inlet. The mystery of what happened to Hamilton is fascinating. Was he eaten by an alligator, killed by native people, or did he drown? No one will ever know. The museum is staffed by a Preservation Society volunteer who donates their time. The next lighthouse tour is February 11th on shuttle boats leaving from Sands Harbor Dock. The museum is open seven days a week from 11am until 3pm and on tour days it opens at 10 am. If you love the lighthouse as I do drop in for a visit to the museum or for a lighthouse tour and support the Lighthouse Preservation Society in their mission to keep the lighthouse open and accessible to everyone.

He stated some are better than the others for durability like Nucore & Durolux and still need to see the different ones that are offered . The one I was choosing was less expensive and happened to match better but when I tried the sample at home it did scratch easily with a flathead(I did as an experiment) as he had previously mentioned. He said not to drag furniture or anything that may scratch it. He said I needed a blue bottom cover for the floor underneath but u are if I actually need it . I decided to head back the next day and exchange the one I had with the one that was more durable to last longer since it would not be warrantied if any scratches were to occur. I also purchased a tool to install it if needed . I wanted to purchase and match a marble piece that I already have in the area going into the other rooms. He took me to the area and we picked a piece out. Additionally, I had the transition piece to match. He loaded the car for me. When I returned the next day it was busier. Another guy assisted me but was told to go to another customer and someone else helped me. He took the ones I purchased out of the car but there was a bit of a delay at the registers when I returned because customers were also returning and purchasing. I will more than likely have someone install it even though I do like to learn DIY .
