When I search on Yelp, I search for businesses with 5.0 ratings only. So when I needed to find a Roto-Rooter to clear out roots under my toilet, I did my usual search and found A-Sure Plumbing. I was a little concerned with the number of reviews but then saw that the oldest review was from 2017 and all reviews were five stars! Spoke to Mario; he told me in advance how much it would cost to run a camera down the sewer drain and how much it would cost to clean out the roots. He and his team arrived on time; within a few minutes, one of his guys pulled out roots about 2-3 feet long. Then they ran the camera and flushed with water; everything looked clear. Mario explained where the roots were coming from, not from a broken pipe and not from nearby trees growing upward the pipe that I have been led to believe all these years. Basically the problem was resolved within a few minutes and he suggested what could be done to prevent the roots from growing back. He only charged me the cost to run the camera. I really appreciated his honesty, professionalism, fair price, and kindness. Thanks Mario! This root issue wasn't a new problem for me. I have hired another plumber (the same one, twice) previously to take care of it but he didn't tell me the root-cause (no pun intended) and what to do to prevent it from reoccurring. It's unbelievable that post-COVID there still seems to be great plumbing service available but here I am writing about it. A-sure pro is not part of the run-of-the-mill monopolistic cartel of contractors that spin you around passing you from one agent to the other with some agents going the extra mile of deception and pretend to protect you from other contractors. THEY ARE THEIR OWN INDEPENDENT COMPANY - and if you know a thing or two about contracting - this is important. Where to begin? We had a clogged kitchen sink and reached out to Mario after 9pm on a Friday (mostly so we could just be first on his list Saturday morning.) A-Sure was awesome!! The gas company cutoff my gas due to a leak. I requested a quote and A-Sure responses were quick and prompt. They showed up within an hour or so. I was converting my garage into an ADU. Inspector came out and said I needed to have a separate tankless water heater installed, gas line extended from main house to the new unit and some interior plumbing reworked! So I came to yelp searched for a plumber explained my situation and requested a quote. One good thing about the quote request on yelp is that it sends your message to multiple plumbers who are all local to my area. So moving on, all of the plumbers replied to my ad in a timely manner and within a day or two all had requested to come out to assess the job. Out of all the companies that came out, one stood out for me. This was A-sure plumbing! Mario was very professional and polite. in our initial meeting he quickly assessed the situation and within minutes I had a estimate of repairs in my had. I told Mario that I needed to give all the plumbers that were interested in seeing the project the opportunity and he was very courteous and said he was looking forward to getting the opportunity to work with me on this project. So after looking at all the estimates, they all had come in with a couple of hundred dollars of difference within each other. Mario's initial approach and his competitive price made my decision easier. I called Mario and scheduled for the work to start. He came in on time and completed the job within the exact time frame that he said he would. After the work was complete the next day my main house water heater would not turn on. I called Mario and he said that most likely the pilot of my water heather went out and he told me that he has seen these type of pilots give out a lot on customers. I knew that the problem was not Mario's it just happened that the pilot gave out during uninstalling and installing my water heater! But never the less Mario offered to help and came out the next morning to take care of the issue. All in all I had a great experience with A-Sure plumbing and Mario was a pleasure to work with. Fair and Honest. What more do you want in a plumber? I equate it to a car mechanic.. You don't know how to fix the problem but you know enough to know when you are being taken. I had a slab leak. I got a free inspection from a corporate rooter company. He confirmed it was a slab leak. He then told me I would need a leak detection service. $750, but if I hired him they would put $375 towards repairs. I have no running water, haven't showered in two days, and I was feeling desperate. My instinct was to book the appointment ASAP..but I didn't. For those of you who have studied conmen or manipulation (I am a dabbler in the art) one of the first steps is reciprocity. Giving something for free endears you to the mark. The mark feels an instant trust and DEBT of gratitude to the con. They gave me a free inspection. I feel like I should at least give them a chance to work on this since they did this for me, right? Then it's going to be $750 in order to just find out how screwed I am and how much I'm going to have to pay for the actual repairs. And now I feel like I have to hire them for the job in order to recoup the $375 of that $750 to go towards the actual repairs . And that's where they've got you. Because now you're in too deep and it's been too long since you had any running water so you'll pay them whatever they ask. Instead, I got on yelp and start doing my research. I found 20 plumbers in the area and sent them an email asking for a free quote. Everyone of them sent back an email saying they needed more information. So I'm back to square one calling each individual plumber one by one and asking them for a quote. And what I should say is I didn't speak to the plumber. I spoke to the dispatcher. And the piece of information they needed to know in order to give me a quote was where do I live. If you are in Beverly Hills I bet you they have an opening. I also bet it's going to be just a little bit more. No proof.. My feeling.. Then I called Mario with my last of 20 phone calls. I was confused. He answered the phone. When he said he needed more information, he actually asked me questions about my situation and got ACTUAL information. He came out, looked over the situation.. He was able to determine, by asking me about my special set of circumstances , that I didn't actually need the leak detection service. He waived the inspection fee and just put it towards the cost of the repairs which were about half of what I was expecting or what I had been estimating from people I spoke with... especially when you add in the leak repair service I didn't need. Mario is GOLD! Don't take my word for it. Call all the other plumbers.. Or should I say, talk to dispatch. See how much personal interest Sally on line three has in your flooding house. Mario is so talented at what he does (plumbing and also general contracting), offers very reasonable prices, is reliable and fast, and is completely transparent. Also just a really nice person. He has fixed several plumbing issues for us and most recently oversaw the construction of our new shower (the pan broke so the whole thing needed rebuilding). It was a complicated job and he communicated with us throughout promptly and honestly, explaining everything with patience and addressing our concerns large and small. He came up with clever and creative solutions to a few issues that surfaced (the results of shoddy past work from before we moved in). The end result is beautiful and I still think how much I love our new shower every time I use it...which is why I was reminded to write this review! Mario saved my marriage! My father in law was staying at our small house for Father's Day weekend and suddenly the water heater stopped working! My wife gave me 'that look.' It was a Friday. I desperately called around and no one could come out until Monday. This was going to be a loooong weekend. Then, the phone rang. It was one of the plumbers that I called earlier and he wanted to give me Mario's number. I called Mario and my fortune changed! Mario said he would be there today at 2:00 and he was there at 2:00. He was nice, happy and a joy to chat with. He took apart the tankless water heater and called the manufacturer but the warranty was expired. He said it wasn't worth it to repair it and he could get a new one installed on Monday. But wait, still no hot water until Monday? I have had an on going problem for years and my plumber would always hesitate to do the job. I knew it would be a difficult job with digging up pipes and rerouting them to run better. A Sure was recommended from someone and he came in, explained everything, dug up pipes and rerouted and put in new pipe where it was needed. He was straight forward, no intensive sales pitch.
