I'm no expert in plumbing, so take what I say with a grain of salt here. The TLDR is this: 1. These guys came in with a machine, tried to fix my issue, and said "Sorry, it didn't work -- you'll need to do a 1200$ repair instead." 2. The next day I brought in a different guy with the same machine, and he fixed the issue for 100$. Again, I'm not an expert so I don't really know what happened here. All I know is that these guys said I'd need a 1200$ repair, and another guy did it for 100$ and my issue is fine now. Not trying to be mean, but "Could've been better" seems like the appropriate review. *** For transparency, here's my summary of what happened: The kitchen sink was draining too slowly. It was pretty bad. I posted a project on Yelp, and Abe at Extreme Plumbing and Rooter messaged me and seemed like a good guy. We agreed for him to drop by later that day. All good so far -- I appreciated his transparency about prices and his willingness to stop by same day. So later that day two guys show up with a rooting machine. I've taken everything out from the under-kitchen-sink cabinet and after a quick assessment of the area they get to work with the rooting machine. It takes about ten minutes. Once they're done, the kitchen sink still doesn't drain. They're quite apologetic and offer to lower the previously agreed-upon price (140 IIRC) to 80. They also say that if we do further work with them to fix the issue, they'll apply that 80$ to the next bill. Which seems nice of them, I appreciate it. So what's the further work they recommend? Basically they say we'd need to drill a new access pipe, since there isn't one for the kitchen sink presently. Then they'd bring a bigger rooting machine, and possibly a hydrojet. They estimate this would cost 1200$. I say I'd have to think about that, it's a lot. They understand, thank me for my time, I thank them for theirs, and I give them a 20$ tip anyway. There is a little confusion where I think the main 3" pipe might be the access line for the kitchen, and I ask them about this and they offer to hydrojet that line for 650, but they say it won't fix the kitchen sink issue. In the end it doesn't matter, I was just confused about which pipe was which. Anyway, I ask around and a friend recommends another guy. This guy drops by the next day. He takes a look at the situation, tests the faucets, the toilets, etc, looks at the access pipe and confirms it's not for the kitchen, and then goes back to his van and grabs a rooting machine. When I see the rooting machine, I'm surprised. I say, "Hey, sorry, we had some guys here yesterday -- they used that same machine and it didn't work." The guy goes, "Maybe same machine, but I'm more skilled. If it doesn't work, no charge. Trust me." I'm skeptical, but I say, "Alright then, sure, give it a shot." The guy gets to work, he puts in the rooter and does his thing. Sure enough, after about ten minutes the sink drains PERFECTLY. Like, it makes a pop sound at the end, like a cartoon. The ideal sink draining experience (to the extent there is such a thing). I ask him, "How is this possible? I swear some other guys were here yesterday and said it would cost 1200$ to fix this!" The guy shows me his rooter machine and says, "It's long. It has metal on the end. Your pipe was just sludged. It's no problem." I thank him and give him a 40% tip because, why not. *** So what am I to conclude from this? I have no idea. Maybe there was something the Extreme Plumbing and Rooting folks just missed coincidentally about this issue, or maybe they didn't do the right tests so they didn't diagnose the issue? Maybe they were trying to upsell me? I don't know. I tend to not immediately jump to "They're scammers," because I'm also a repair tech (I fix electronics and stuff) and I know most people are really just trying to help and it's hard to diagnose issues sometimes. So that's my story. Everyone makes mistakes. It's fine. But, just in the spirit of total transparency, it seems like Extreme Plumbing and Rooting made a mistake on my job. So I'm not gonna go all the way to 1-star, but I gotta admit -- not the best experience I've had here. Where do I begin... I have been charged $780 by this company to come and perform a "leak detection"... they opened two parts on the drywall, they didn't even remove the water heater. Once they found the leak, they charged me an additional $900 to replace the cold water valve and two other minor things they advised me to fix-they said it would take half a day, they were done in an hour. Talk about being ripped off. Proceed with extreme caution when reaching out to them for any kind of work as you'll be overcharged. I would not recommend. read more

I needed the remote laundry shutoff valves in my fiance's 2 bedroom condo replaced. They were the originals from 1975. They arrived well within their arrival window of 10-12am, at 10:10am and finished the job by 11:45am. And, it had to be soldered, they had to remove the wall panel and also had to reroute the pipes to an extent to get everything to fit so as not to have to make further modifications. I have had the same water heater for 20 years now. When I found out that there's no hot water, I was so sure that my water heater has gone bad and it is time to replace it. I happened to find Extreme plumbing on Yelp and Abe responded to my request within five minutes and then he called me and told me that he will stop by and look at the water heater without any charges on the same day. Hakob and his team came out to help remove the roots from my irrigation drain system. They ran the camera through the entire drain system and found were certain sections where the roots were built up. It turned out to be far more locations than the one or two that we had first thought. Roots were in six different sections of the irrigation drains. They spent far more time and did far more work than they estimated. Hakob completed all the work needed to make sure that the irrigation system wouldn't back up, and gave guidance on when to do maintenance to make sure the roots do not grow back enough to block the water from emptying out into the street. Thanks Hakob and his team for doing such a good job for a great deal, and his response was to ask me to give him a good review, So I'm doing it now.
