Great people who work there who are friendly and helpful. The Cons. The price for each taco is a bit steep for my wallet and, being a diabetic, it is best to do the lettuce wrap but 75 cent added fee for lettuce wrap is a bit hefty. Came here with my wife last week because she got jealous that I went to the Little Falls one, glad to know I didn't need to drive a half hour! Food: we ordered the sesame tuna, buttermilk fried chicken, Korean BBQ, and Caribbean jerk tacos along with some elite, the tuna was amazing, Korean bbq + carribeab jerk great, and the chicken good, but felt heavy. I'm thrilled to have this tasty, original, casual restaurant in downtown Denville! While A Taco Affair does serve a traditional ground beef taco, it's the fun, multi-cuisine menu that pulls me in. On my first visit to the Denville location, I opted for the beef brisket taco, the quinoa bean taco, and the yuca fries. Stunningly, all of them were tasty. A sweet barbecue sauce carried through the brisket, and the crispy, yet not oily red onions added crunch and texture. It had a good salt level without being salty. The quinoa bean fritter is an excellent vegan option - it was crispy and hot, while a tart avocado created balance. They also have a Korean BBQ taco, a fried chicken taco, and a bunch of other choices that I'm eager to sample. The yuca fries were probably the weak point of the meal. They smelled fried. I have been before but didn't review because I wanted to give it another chance. Now I can't remember exactly what I got the first time but I'm positive one of the taco was the fried chicken. It was overcooked and I just didn't like it. But wanted to try again especially because of the good reviews and I also think the people behind the counter are super nice. This time I got the traditional ground beef and the cauliflower. Both were really good. Two tacos are enough for me. The one thing me and my boyfriend both noted was that the tortillas fall apart. It may be worth trying the lettuce wraps to see if that works better. The cauliflower was surprisingly good. It was a tad spicy for me but it wasn't too bad. My boyfriend had the steakhouse and the Korean. He liked both but felt like they didn't travel well. I live about 40 min from this location so the food had a long ride. We also got the green rice. It's ok, my boyfriend likes it more than me. I would definitely return. The one suggestion I have is either putting the specials on the website or on the ordering app. It just says "weekly special" on the app so you don't know what it is and have to track it down. read more

Unfortunately, this place isn't going to survive. I was so excited to try it because tacos are truly one of my favorite foods. From an ambiance perspective, they leave something to be desired. With the warm weather here, there should be music pumping with the door open and shades drawn so people are attracted to check it out. Food wise - the tacos were just ok. There is WAY too much filling in one taco. And it costs $5.75(ish) which seems a lot for one taco. They'd be so much better off splitting the same filling into two shells and charging $6 for 2. Also, they don't offer a meal option. So all of the sides are a la crate and not inexpensive either. Again, it's a shame, but I just don't see this making it despite the prime real estate they landed! read more

Denville has become foodie heaven with every cuisine covered (almost all) by exciting, well run kitchens. Taco Affair is the third Mexican food place in town and their focus, hence the name, is on top quality tacos. I did a take out of three from the menu and each was full of flavor and bursting with the taste of fresh ingredients. My wife is a vegetarian but she will eat shrimp and grabbed the Po boy shrimp taco. We like it so much, on the second visit I ordered three of them and we split them over lunch. It's great to have another well run eatery in town and I wish A Taco Affair the best of luck. The serve my wife's favorite taco so I'm sure to be a regular. My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant when we were hanging out in downtown Denville. Our goal was cheap eats. I got one regular taco and one specialty one with crumbled feta cheese on it. Also got the churros with salted caramel sauce on the side. Overall, the service was friendly, the tacos were good albeit kinda small and it was very affordable. Very flavorful. Ordered the steakhouse, crab fritter, sesame tuna and smoked brisket for my husband and I to split and try. I was happy with all except the brisket. Maybe it was an off day but the brisket was pretty dry and did not have enough bbq sauce on it. The brisket was my first pick based on the award they won for their Best Beef Taco. We are obsessed with A Taco Affair. We have dairy and gluten allergies and they were able to guide us and make recommendations with the menu. The service has been quick and efficient. I got the seared tuna taco- excellent and with a lot of tuna and the vegan quinoa taco which was loaded with avocado and a tangy sauce in addition to the yummy falafel inside. I don't crave meat as much in the summer and this was so good, I can't wait to go back. I asked the chef what her favorite tacos were and she said the steak and the buttermilk chicken and so I got those for my husband. I sampled and they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better taco. The jerk chicken was topped with fresh pineapple salsa, green cabbage, creamy cilantro sauce. It was awesome. I HAD to indulged in the Mexican street corn. It was soo good. The restaurant is clean and with plenty of seating in the dining room. The staff was friendly and my order came out super quick. They do have a 4% credit card usage fee so cash might be a better option. Parking is tough because it is located in downtown business district. I will most definitely be back for more! Perhaps they are still working out the kinks of a new location, but this spot just does not meet the expectation set by the original in Little Falls. Ordered an original, a tuna, and a buttermilk chicken. Original was some type of processed canned meat, perhaps a Hormel product? Tuna was inedible and not fresh at all. My cat enjoyed it though. Buttermilk fried chicken conjures a picture in your mind. Oily breaded chicken cutlet pieces is just not what that picture looks like for me. I'll give them another shot in a few months once they get settled but I wish them luck in the meantime and hope they can recapture what made them so great in Little Falls. read more
