The entire establishment was filled with smoke. It took us 30 minutes to get two simple burrito orders with no line ahead of us and 5 employees behind the counter. The employees moves slower than molasses. We had to repeat ourselves constantly. Once we finally got our order we went to the soda machine and more than half of the soda options were out. I would not eat here ever again. First and last time I will ever eat at Qdoba. Be wary of the one in denville. Someone call the health inspector please. My friend had a large metal screw in his food. Thankfully he did not bite into it. We told the cashier what happened, and she acted like it was no big deal that there was a large screw in his food. We left rather than cause a scene, but it is pretty foul that this restaurant has long metal screws in their food. Somebody is going to break their teeth or choke. I had another friend that this happened to at a different restaurant recently. It makes me not want to eat out anymore. Last Qdoba I had was years ago, wasn't a fan then but today a family vote between Qedoba and Five Guys got us into Qdoba. Although no one was in back of us in line (place very empty in a busy shopping center at noon), the person behind the counter rushed us through. No chance to read options. Settled for salad bowl, chicken. Salad leaves were tough outer leaves of some sort. The chicken was about a large spoonful of tiny chicken specs. But tasty. A few other items scant items thrown on (skimpy salsa), finely shredded flavorless cheese out of a bag, pickled onions (yuk). For $10.00 I picked the tasty chicken out for my lunch. The rest was garbage. I'm giving it 2 stars because my son enjoyed his burrito (but ended up throwing the second half out, he wasn't enjoying it because I wasn't eating mine). $25.00 waste. It has been about 15 years since I last tried Qdoba. There are three possible answers for what went wrong: 1) Qdoba has gone downhill. Not likely, as quality seemed to be just fine. 2) Mexican has come a long way. There are a few local places in North Jersey (prime among them being El Matador in Bloomfield), but most places are still the "faux-Mex" or "almost-Mex" chains like this, so I'm not sure. 3) My taste buds have come a long way. I've been to New Mexico and the rest of the Southwest since my last Qdoba, not to mention the additional local places I've eaten. So let's go with #3. Anyway, I ordered three tacos. Apparently they didn't have a very competent staffer (based on my coworker's ominous email). Turns out instead of three different tacos, I got three of the same one. I don't know if that's a policy of theirs or just misunderstanding. Skipping that, I asked for the hottest they could possibly make it, and I got plain tacos with a side of hot sauce. It was decently hot. Tasted maybe like ghost pepper, but certainly at least at the habanero level. I give them credit, it was a flavorful sauce and a good accompaniment. That was the only flavorful part. I got three relatively piteous tacos, dominated by the corn shell. The cotija cheese consisted of tiny bits that I wouldn't have recognized as cheese if I hadn't read the description. I think all three tacos combined had a teaspoon. So generous. The tacos had about 6 squares of fairly bland and brownened chicken (blackened is a gross overstatement) and some other stuff like cilantro (mostly cilantro). Guacamole existed. Also, each taco came individually wrapped so I was peeling/licking toppings off of the wrappers. Bottom line: It's still at least 2 stars above Taco Bell, but unfortunately my memory must deceive me, because it's at least a star below Baja Fresh and other proximate Mexican/"Mexican" places (and two below Chipotle). Sorry Qdoba, the world of food has passed you by. read more

This location looks nice and is very spacious however it is almost always empty! It is located in a pretty busy shopping center (the one with Panera and Banana Republic) so location seems pretty convenient. The service is just ok... I am really disappointed in their tacos and I am not sure if qdoba as a chain is going down or if it's just this location. I do have to say that the tortilla for the taco is unusually small so that already seems to be setting the experience up for failure I tried the knockout tacos... 3 different kinds and they were all forgettable. Very little meat, "flavor" sauces that didn't quite fit, and very very messy. I have tried the burritos at other locations and always enjoyed them. Maybe tacos was just the wrong choice. read more

In my opinion Qdoba and Chipotle are similar. I think Chipotle may be a little healthier but Qdoba definitely taste better. The chicken salad bowl is my fav. You can't go wrong with this dish. Yum! If you need a quick-fix for a craving for Mexican food, head here! I like this place because the tortilla is really chewy (and doesn't crack or crumble) and the rice is chock-full of cilantro (and I effing love cilantro). I usually get the fajita burrito because you get bell peppers in your burrito. I love their assortment of salsas (mild, medium, hot, green, corn) and they do have guacamole, but it's extra. They have Cholula hot sauces to use on your food, though I have seen people sneaking bottle out with their to-go meal... of course I would NEVER do such a thing!... :clears throat: Anyway, they also offer you the choice of a skinless burrito or whatever if you're watching your carbs and they just make it like a salad. I only gave it 3 stars though because they never put enough meat in the dishes and it's a little pricey for me. Also, watch out if you get a less-than-skilled burrito maker! Sometimes your burrito's proportions will be SQUARE, meaning it's just as fat as it is long (and I'm not a fan of short and fat burritos. It makes it hard to put it in your mouth ;) read more

I have had a difficult time finding edible Mexican food. Most places in NJ are not very good and it's sad that I actually like a chain...Felipe Calderón would have my head! Qdoba does a good job. I feel as though their food is seasoned well enough and is not bland (like most places). They really pack in the meat, rice and whatever else you want into a burrito. The thing actually feels like it weighs a few pounds (I cannot be responsible for what happens after you eat it). I would recommend 2 Burrito's: Grilled Chicken and Shredded Beef. They are both very full of flavor and the burrito wrap actually stay in tact...although it doesn't take me long to eat it hence why it doesn't have enough time to fall apart. When you order, it's like an assembly line. You feel like your under pressure because they have a good amount of choices. I like mine spicy so I go with the hotter salsa. For those of you Atkins-it up, they have a naked version. Hello, just order a salad next time..sheesh. Their cheese quesadilla's are good as well...gooey cheese...yummy! I do agree their prices are high for a "fast food" type place. Don't expect to leave withouth shelling out about $12 for a burrito and a drink. It's worth it though. I give two stars for the food, but I expect it to be consistent across the chain. Three stars docked off for bad customer service; it is absolutely atrocious. They act like they are doing you a favor, and ding you for every little thing. Horrible experience here today. The manager a man with dark hair was extremely rude and I will definitely not be returning. I ordered steak quesadillas to go.. when I opened it..2 of the 4 pieces were COMPLETELY EMPTY. I went back in. Asked him why this was served to me like this because it's not typical of other locations. He threw it in the garbage with an attitude. Said I'll make you another. I asked for a refund and said he should be ashamed to serve anything like that to a customer.. He was sarcastic and not very customer oriented. Qdoba makes some good basic burritos and quesadillas. Nothing special really. Too much rice most of the time for me. I'd pick chipolte or baja fresh over this place any day. I have been getting emails on a regular basis from Qdoba for "Buy one entrée, get a second entrée FREE." Well I decided one night to take them up on it and stopped to pick up dinner at the restaurant on Route 10 in Denville. When I got to the register, they wouldn't accept my coupon. Lo and behold it was only good in Salina Ks, Wichita Ks, Hays Ks, Hutchinson Ks, Austin Tx. I paid for both entrees but wrote to Qdoba and asked why they would be sending out these coupons to people in New Jersey. Of course I never got a reply. I think of how many other people were suckered into the same coupon and I wonder if the people in Wichita are getting coupons for restaurants in New Jersey. Shame on them! read more

Terrible customer service and portion sizes are half of what they were a year ago. The older white dude who works here is a total jerk to the rest of the staff and the customers. He messed up a guy's order and when the guy asked for it to be corrected, he looked right at the guy and said, "So we'll leave that as is," and pushed it down the line to the register. My daughter has an allergy and when I asked if the chips had gluten in them, he said, "I don't know. There's an allergen list over there, but you can't get to it right now." There was a huge line of customers standing in front of their one piece of literature on their allergens. And he made no attempt to get that info for me, but wouldn't let anyone else answer my question, just wanted me out of there. I really enjoy Mexican food. I really enjoy fast service. I also enjoy a clean environment. Well, you can find all of those things at this Qdoba location. I have eaten in and taken out and never had a problem. In fact, I went in here a few days ago at the height of the lunch time rush. The line was long, but moved with lightning speed. I probably eat there once a week, if not more. The Craft 2 of Tortilla Soup and Chicken Tacos (or Naked Taco Salad) fit well into my Weight Watchers regimen, so I tend to stick to that. I have not found one QDoba in the area (Rockaway, Florham Park, Morristown, Denville) to be all that superior to the other.
