Well what can I say. Gary shows up 20 minutes late. Does fix our problem. It took him less than 5 min to do the job. Charged $120.00 so we paid we asked for a receipt he said he would sent it he never did. Gary was very friendly over the phone than in person. He did not want me to hang around and ask questions. found out why later, he came to fix my door lock, after it was fixed before Having me try it out the old key function, he went to his van and started to cut the new key. If I don't get new key, he won't warranty the job. That's his tricks. I said okay, give me a new key but let me keep my old one as well. He agreed than backed off and finally told me he plan to take the chip from my original key and used it the way he doesn't have to program a new key. (Basically just cut the key Mickey Mouse job). Key he gave me is cheap after market key, looks and feel different. He should have showed me the key before hand. If I knew he would do this I would have kept my original key. Now I know why he doesn't like customer hang around. By the way he gave me TWO years warranty on key. Reason for two star is he should have showed me the key before making the key. read more

So I'm shopping at the northridge mall for Xmas gifts... When I finally came out of that crazy place I realized I had lost my key. I called A thru Z lock and key and they were there with in 35 min. I have a tricky key so they popped my glove box lock out and took it with them to there shop to make a key. I headed to the local bar and waited. After a few drinks he was back. They reprogrammed my car to make the key work. I headed home and a few days later I started wrapping gifts.....I pulled out all the gifts from the bags and felt something heavy in the bag...yes...it was my keys! From when I used their service on 9/26/2012 A Thru Z Lock & Key answered their phone right away. Gary answered all of my questions and was able to give me the price over the phone and an ETA. He was only a couple of minutes late, but was very professional and called to apologize and to let me know that he was close. My mailbox lock broke today and he replaced the lock. He had to custom fit the pieces and make a small tweek to the hinges on the door so it could work smoothly. He did all this very fast and made sure I was satisfied with his work. He was also very courteous to my 5 year old son who watched him work and occasionally peppered him with questions. He even told us about his two young daughters. He was very personable, which is something I and many people appreciate as it is very rare anyone wants to be in a position where they would need a locksmith to begin with (i.e. getting locked out of something). I accidentally lost my roommate's car key. After looking everywhere, I drove her to the toyota dealership. They said it was going to be around $600 for the key alone because it had a chip in it and they needed to reprogram the car. The cost did not include towing the car to the dealership, which was another $100, and my roommate also wanted me to pay to have all of her door locks changed which was going to bring the total to around $1500. We were asked to bring the car in by 1pm in order to have it back by 5pm. When I got home I called around to find a less expensive price for the services when a friend referred me to Gary. I am a chef and was shopping for a large event when I shut the hatchback on my key. It was at a 45 degree angle. There I was 100+ degrees with groceries needing refrigeration. First call was a mistake..I called AAA who would only send out someone to replace the key not try to copy it and the quote for my Lexus key was hundreds of dollars and it would be up to 2 1/2 hours before they could get there. My second call was to Gary of A thru Z who listened patiently and said let me see what I can do. He explained why the other quote was so high, he gave me a dramatically lower quote and arrived within the hour. He was professional, cordial and explained every step. He charged a reasonable rate, handed me a receipt, gave me his card looking for referrals, all was good. Until the bookkeeper lost the receipt and requested a duplicate. No problem, I will just call nice Gary up and get one. So I called, and called, and called, finally got Gary and a promise to send me the duplicate receipt. It never arrived. So I called and called and called some more. I finally gave him an ultimatum, send me a receipt or I am going to post a negative review on Yelp to warn others. I gave him an entire week to call me back, to do something, anything so I would not have to post this. NOPE.
