My ex and I ate here yesterday, September 6th, for lunch. It's a cozy little place in downtown Toms River. There's other places to eat nearby, coffee shops, etc. It's street parking with meters. I think there's a municipal lot close by but you probably have to pay for that too. Very friendly service, and the owner Mike was great to talk to. They also have nice outdoor seating in back. My ex had the chicken pesto panini with fries, I had the bacon and brie omelette with breakfast potatoes and rye toast. The French fries are just the way I like them, fresh cut and no flour or batter. Just excellent flavor. Portions are generous. She gave me a bite of her sandwich, top notch on flavor, texture and temperature. I have the other half for leftovers! My omelette was good, cheese could have been a little more melty, eggs a little less done, but otherwise very good. Rye toast was excellent. I believe they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. We will definitely be back because I liked everything about the place and the menu looks amazing. I can't wait to try other options. This little cafe serves mostly breakfast and lunch but also has dinner hours Friday and Saturday. It's closed Sunday. A friend and I enjoyed dinner on April 3rd. They had live music by a woman of my generation singing mainly folk. She was very good, the music at the perfect volume for a quaint dinner. I had the special Key West Mahi Mahi served with coconut rice and pineapple salsa. Its presentation was perfect. It was VERY good, the rice and salsa perfect with the fish. My friend had a chicken and apple panini, which he very much enjoyed. The surprise of the meal was the duck fries. Shoestring potatoes with shavings of duck and a secret sauce that made them one of the best fries I had in my 66 yrs. Our server was cheerful, full of smiles and attentive. We couldn't ask for better service. The entire staff was friendly, even the chef was laughing as I spied him taking a photo of my meal. The place isn't very large and the one large party there was made up of respectable people obviously there to enjoy the food. Stopped here with a large party on the way home from Cape May. Restaurant is very cute with nice decor. Because we had 7 people we ordered almost everything on the menu. In retrospect this was a huge mistake, because the portions here are Galactus-sized. Food was fantastic though and we took a lot of stuff home. Favorite items in no particular order were: - Mac and cheese bowl which spinach and artichoke. Kids loved this one and I guess you could say they ate some veggies with this. - mediterranean salad . Nice healthy option that had good flavors - chicken bruschetta panini - a giant sandwich that was nicely balanced - jersey burger. good tasting patty and egg is a nice touch. My only slight ding for this place is C2H5OH-related. They have a good wine selection but it's only available by the bottle. A bit of a bummer if you only want a drink or two. On Friday nights, Toms River closes off part of Main St and it turns into a fun night out with outdoor dining offered by local eateries, bands playing at Battleriver Brewing and/or Garden State Distillery and the opportunity to just be out on the street with adult beverages. My sister, niece, and I went to breakfast at A Thyme for All Seasons. We were the only customers; it was quiet and hot, but my sister had enjoyed eating there before. Before we ordered, loud music began playing. I could not hear the server, so I asked if the music could be turned down a little, which it was. Once we placed our orders, the music became loud again, and I could not hear the conversation at the table. Although the food was ok, the loud music and heat made the breakfast uncomfortable. The waitress took away our plates, not even asking if I wanted more coffee. When she brought our check, the prices on the check were different than those on the menu. My sister asked to speak with a manager about the discrepancy. The manager/owner told us the prices on the menu were wrong; he pointed to a small chalkboard that could not be read from where we were seated which mentioned that egg dishes were 25% higher. The waitress did not mention the prices nor did the large visible chalkboard noting the specials. It seems as if that the owner was intentionally deceptive and hoping no one would notice the price changes. The owner was rude and told us that he could not afford to change the menus and loud music is expected in a restaurant. He did ultimately remove the price of our drinks to placate us. Although the food was ok, the service, loud music, deceptive prices and attitude of the owner are unacceptable. I will not return to A Thyme for All Seasons and based on other reviews, there are a number of people who have had similar experiences. There are several good places to eat in Toms River, but A Thyme for All Seasons is not one of them. read more

When I asked if the babies were to just shovel the food into their mouths, same response. We have order from them dozens of times at TR night outs. Never again. This cafe in downtown Tom's River is my favorite place to eat. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. I have tried several different paninis, all tasty with big portions. Every one is so good, but start with the chicken bruchetta panini. You will not regret it. The grilled chicken on any salad really adds flavor, texture. Trust me. If you are not sure, ask your server. Last week, they recommended the French Toast. It had about six pieces of buttery warm fresh bread with a side of fruit and whipped cream. The French Toast and coffee came to $7.45. What a deal. You can eat inside where they play great music on the radio, or out front by the sidewalk at a table, or out back on the new sunny, wine patio. We decided to come after our scarecrow walk with our family because we have heard such great things. However our experience was less then ideal. Service: Staff seemed very friendly and attentive until we had an issue then they kinda disappeared and seemed very awkward. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is casual and nice. It's very small. Only a few tables inside. I believe there's outside patio dinning as well. Food: The have a pretty big menu but no official kids menu. They do say they could make smaller portions but we were charged full price for a "smaller portion kids meal for a 1 year old". We started off great with the appetizers. Those were delicious and very well made. So it was a great disappointment when 3 of our dinners came out with issues. My 3 year old got the Mac and cheese and kept saying it was "spicy" so I tasted it and it definitely had a Buffalo taste to it. Both me and my husband sampled it and since buffalo sauce has a very distinctive flavor it's not hard to miss especially for a 3 year old. Then came around our meals and we were served raw chicken. Both me and my husbands chicken were served raw. Which is not a big deal they offered to remake it for us. However when they served us our meal we noticed it look drastically different and had a whole different sauce on it. Both me and my husband agreed it was not what we had ordered but we had cranky kids and decided to just eat and move on. Not sure what meal we were served but it was chicken in a thick Turkey like gravy that was flavorless. There was a lady who we thought may be a manager come over and apologize and say she was going to take care of the bill for us and give us pumpkin pie. But when the bill came around nothing was taken off. There was nothing "taken care of". We were actually charged for a service fee as well. Having worked many years in the hospitality and restaurant industry I did expect there to be some sort of rectification for our experience. However the manager thought giving us a slice of broken "unsellable" pumpkin pie would be justified enough. Unfortunately we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I really like this place! I got the cuban and it was really really really freaking good. They have a pretty wide variety on the menu, so it's likely you'll find something you like. They seemed to need a bit more staff, but at least we were treated good. What a gem this place is!! A menu that is creative yet contains plenty of standards for those not daring enough to try something new. (Like Quackos - duck tacos!) There's quite a few duck items on the menu. We were all in the mood for burgers ( which were delicious) so we split an order of duck fries. Oh my goodness, so good!! With our burgers we got the pesto macaroni salad- delicious! If I had any complaint it would be that it's only open til 3 during the week. They have seating up front and it looked like a back outside area as well. I ordered a Jersey Burger, which is a 1/3 lb burger, with pork roll, egg and cheese as well as lettuce and tomato. It was a big boy. The burger was cooked perfectly at medium rare, it was juicy and delicious. Now admittedly it was a mess, but mixing a big juicy burger, with a runny egg, well that's bound to happen. Have your napkins ready for this one though. The pork roll was flavorful and didn't get lost, which sometimes happens. Mom got a bacon & Brie grilled cheese. Of course I tried a bite. It was wonderful. My son and I were in the area just before noon on a Monday. The place was jammed packed. Within 10 minutes the entire restaurant was emptied out. Turns out, Toms River high school lets out for lunch, many restaurants around here are packed during that time. It's nice that they have a special menu and pricing for the HS kids. Upon entering the establishment to meet up with friends that were already seated we were confronted, stopped and told we cannot go into the back open area to meet them So I just ignored her and we walked on back. She followed us back and started to give our friends a hard time at the table for allowing us to come back and sit with them. They had waited 45 minutes for bottle of wine and one hour for food with no apology. They were so disgusted by Monica's behavior they agreed to leave at once without finishing their meal and leaving a half bottle of wine and my friends are regulars there.
