A to Z Rental in North Haven If I could give 0 stars I would. I rented a tent , 60 tables and 60 chairs , I ordered white chairs brown came for my grandsons party . The night before the rope snapped during a rain storm, I understand weather can happen. I called the after hours number and both the North Haven and Wallingford office the message box was full , I finally got in touch with John at 6 am on the day of the party . He told me A to Z doesn't fix the tent that he would get in touch with Durant to come out. At 9 am 1 man came but he had to call someone else to come help him the poor guy waited 1 1/2 hours for him to come. They Both work for A to Z not the Durant office . He had to have the other guy pick up rope because he even said this rope has seen better days , it was very worn out. When we got home from church the ten was up but sagging in 3 spots . During our party which the day was beautiful weather the tent started to come down I yelled for my daughter to get out of the tent she was holding the baby. Called John that day he told me to discuss this on Monday. So I went to the store all I can say is the customer service was awful. He got mad at me that I was discussing this in his store so I said if you have a problem with that, take me into your back office and I can discuss it there very very rude. he's telling me that it wasn't his fault. It was the weather, even though I explained to him and showed him pictures of what the tent look like what the rope look like and what his employees even said that the rope should not have been used the next day on the phone. He even told me these tents are prone to fall down really with 60 people that are gonna be sitting under the tent. These tents are prone to fall down the center poles are just sitting on a small block of wood. He said he would give me either $396. 00 off a future Tent rental which I will never work with him again or $196 back off my credit card very unacceptable but he made me sign two forms to release the credit off my card. I don't understand how he is in business with the customer service how rude and how he could even say these tents are prone to fall down. He's lucky no one got hurt absolutely awful company.I will not be back again, and I will tell every single person that might remotely have a need for rentals about this experience. I have so many pictures that I showed him but he didn't care . Email the I got John is such a lier I never said I would take the store credit , and he never said he wouldn't charge me for them to come fix the tent. Customer Doreen Zaino contacted us regarding the 20 x 40 APC tent on contract 10582457, which reportedly collapsed on Saturday 06/06 during a weather event. Initial report was that a corner rope broke during the weather event. Per the contract notes, Durants charges a return fee to set up or adjust an APC tent that has collapsed due to weather. Two Durants employees went to the site on the morning of 06/07 and attempted to re upright the tent. Customer later reported that the tent had collapsed again. Customer came into the store on the morning of 06/08 requesting compensation. I advised her that we would not charge for the attempted reinstallation and that we would review the circumstances before determining whether any refund or credit would be offered. On 06/09, He sent a second attachment for me to sign only because I said I was going to go through my credit card company. read more

i rented floor sand and disk sander from this business the main sander would not hold the pads in and just tore them out immediat;ey , they refused to give me credit then had the audcity to try and charge me for an extra half day , which i will decline on my cc bill additional returned pads they did not creidt me for whatvwas returned 50.00 in pands and equiptment that is not maintained and does not work !! pissed off about shity equiptment beware go else where read more

It's all about choices. I have utilized A to Z, North Haven for many years and always go back even after trying out others that are closer by. A to Z NH is always on top of their game and the equipment delivers as expected. My most recent experience was a chipper I reserved. I arrived earlier than my pick up time so I hung out on the sidelines for my chipper to be returned, inspected, serviced and released. I got to watch this amazing team in action. Professionals with a passion for what they do is underrated. Always friendly and very clear, concise instructions are given no matter what type of equipment your renting. All questions are answered because they know the equipment inside and out. The chipper ran as great and as expected just like the many times before. Thank you A to Z North Haven. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. I needed to branch a few trees on my property, and went there to rent a pole saw. The woman at the desk (whose name I did not get,) was both friendly and accommodating. She drew up my rental agreement, and let Rich know what I was waiting for. Rich started the saw up, and I left. I got halfway through the first branch, and the bottom end of the saw twisted in my hands, and the saw jammed. I am a mechanic, but as a rule, I do not attempt to repair rental equipment. I brought it back, and Rich got me another one quickly. I got through 3 branches, and that one threw the chain. So now.....I gotta go back again. $40 and almost 2 hours of running around, and I have 4 branches on the ground. Anyway, I went back, and Rich told me that he'd fixed the other one, it was on the wall out front, and that I should go ahead and take it. As I was on my way out the door, I heard, "someone needs to get that for you, you cant just take it." This was a guy named Charlie. So, I headed back to where I got it, and said, ok, I was just doing what Rich told me to do. He replied "I don't care what Rich told you, he's a stupid ass, now put it back!" So....I have had nothing but aggravation all afternoon due to substandard equipment, and now I am being spoken to disrespectfully, for following the directions, of an employee of the place. I put the saw down, and said, you know, I think i'll just get my money back, and Charlie said "I don't care what you do" and walked away. Rich tried at that point to intervene, and get me taken care of, but I had had enough. He processed my refund, and I left. I have rented here before, but I will not be back again, and I will tell every single person that might remotely have a need for rentals about this experience. Lots of places to rent equipment from out there, time I took a look at them. If you are the owner of this business, and you read this, I still have my rental agreement, and I will scan and email it to you, just so you know that I was indeed a paying customer at your place. read more

I had a similar experience as DM. I called ahead of time to let them know I was coming in at a certain time to pick up my rental. I arrived on time. No one was there to service me, but that wasn't an issue. I waited patiently at the service desk for approx ten minutes. Another customer came in as the clerk came back. I stepped up to the desk but before I could tell him I was there, the clerk looked toward the customer that just arrived and proceeded to help him! I stated "excuse me, but I called and have been waiting for ten minutes." The clerk told me to wait till he finished with the other customer. I protested that I was there first. The customer did agree that I was there when he walked in a few minutes ago. The clerk made a rude look that made me uncomfortable. I did complain to the manager and he immediately serviced me. read more

Very bad customer experience. Ignored by 2 employees when I went in to pick up my rental, then scolded by one when I tried to address the desk clerk to tell him my name and what I was picking up. It was quite embarassing and I haven't been treated that poorly as a customer in a long time. I don't usually write reviews for businesses unless the service was outstandingly great or incredibly appalling. Unfortunately this was the latter...Find another rental center if you can as these people don't care at all about customer service! read more

Absolutly terrible. The 2 men working there were VERY RUDE. No organization, blaming customers for there mistakes. Equipment falling apart. Very poor customer skills. Place was way better in the past. read more
