There are several good caregivers here; however, I am unable to recommend this community because of the following issues: 1. Lack of communication: Although we were assured when she moved in that we would be updated on her care and condition on a monthly basis, we were seldom updated on her condition unless there was some kind of emergency. We received no regular status updates of how she was doing. 2. Lots of turnover: I understand the senior living industry experiences high turnover in general; however, this place is a revolving door except for a few good caregivers. Depending on who the administrator and memory care director was at the time, it varied on if we were able to communicate with the memory care director. Note: the administrator who was there at the time we moved her was very responsive and nice (Shelly Vercell) 3. Lack of activities: Lots of TV time, few activities. 4. Cost increases: Within six months they issued two large increases, justifying one by saying our mother needed additional care, and justifying the next increase so that they could pay their staff more. The place was quickly becoming a cash drain despite the problems. 5. Reimbursement of funds due to us: We had to give a 30 day notice which is understandable, and pay the month in advance. It took numerous calls and emails over two months to get the funds due back to us that we had prepaid. We were told numerous times "it's being mailed" and it was not until I called the corporate office that we received payment. No apologies from corporate, either.

They mostly watched t.v. or napped which is what you would expect in a nursing home and not memory care.I felt that the caregivers were dedicated and did the best that they could considering the huge turn over of staff. Communication was nonexistent and the main phone number was rarely answered. After 3 years we decided to transfer my 93 year old Mom to a different facility. She went from being kept in a wheelchair for 3 years even though she can walk without assistance to never using one at all. She has scheduled activities from morning until bedtime and never takes a nap. The facility has courtyards that the residents are encouraged to enjoy and they are taken on frequent bus trips. My Mom never left the building previously unless I took her. The last straw was taking months of calling management for the refund that we were owed after the move.We finally called the owner and never got a response but finally received the check today.

I have an elderly patient that was left in front of my building at 8:30 in the morning and our business opens at 9:30 am, our business hours are posted on our front door. When this patients' appointment was finished we called and were told that we were messing up their schedule and it would be approx. 35 minutes that the resident would have to wait to be picked up. The community is within a mile of our office. The patient stated that the transportation personnel called our office this morning and was told the patient could be dropped off, this was incorrect because my team gets to the office 15-30 minutes prior to opening and no one was here. I tried to call and connect with someone to inform them of this occurrence and the receptionist kept talking over me and then took my information for a call back the next day. I would be extremely upset if this was my elderly parent.

There was a problem with the facility apartment insurance request. I paid and submitted the forms about a month prior to move-in and the first bill over 6 weeks later included a fee for not having insurance. I tried contacting the billing office and requested a call back to get things clarified. This did not happen and the problem was not fixed. I again went to Francine who has been my anchor at the Clairmont to get problems fixed. I finally received approval of the policy on October 17th but I had submitted the information in early August! In addition the bill itself was incorrect. The dinning room food has improved, per my father, but the utensils are still awful! I do wish your administrative staff would try using the forks at the facility and imagine that they have arthritis in their hands as these residents frequently do. My dad does better with most plastic forks than the forks supplied at the Clairmont. Please, this should be an easy upgrade. One thing we really appreciate is the ability to have a pet and to have a fenced "yard" area outside of their apartment. I think this adds a homey feel for many of the residents. Better water access would be a plus for those with outside plants. You have outside waste bins for doggy waste but no plastic bags at the one outside of the building for the last 6 weeks. Your showers do not have safety bars inside of the shower, Since most of the residents at this facility use walkers, canes or wheelchairs, why do you think it unnecessary to have a safety bar inside of the shower? This would be a considerate and wise upgrade for the apartments. Overall, we (the family) really like this facility and the people who live and work there. My Dad is still adjusting......

I am writing to share our family's experience with Round Rock Assisted Living, following a six day…read morestay for my father from June 5th through June 10th. We made the decision to move him out urgently due to multiple failures in care, safety concerns, and misleading information provided to us prior to admission. We were referred to this facility by a hospice nurse, and during our initial conversations, Norman, nurse, assured us that my father would receive daily showers. He also stated that although they did not offer respite or trial stays, we would only be charged for the days he was there, plus a $1,500 community fee. This directly contradicted the information on their own website, which clearly advertised respite stays. The website also stated a 1:4 caregiver to resident ratio; once we questioned this, Layne, the acting owner, removed that claim from the site. During my father's six days there, the level of care was far below what was promised. The facility had only one staff member on duty responsible for cooking, baking, laundry, caregiving, and medication administration. A caregiver openly expressed feeling overwhelmed. My father received only two showers during his entire stay, both provided by the hospice nurse--not by facility staff. On June 9th, when we arrived to check on him, he was still wearing the same clothes from the previous day. My mother had to request a washcloth from Norman just to clean him up. That same evening, we discovered he had been given his medication at the wrong time (8 p.m.), which is known to cause insomnia. When my mother requested his anxiety medication, she was told it would have to wait until Norman could be reached--yet both Norman and Layne had already left for the day, as they typically do in the late afternoon. The following day, we made the decision to remove my father from the facility. When we asked Norman for his medicine while packing him up, Norman handed us another's patients' medication. Once we got home, we realized we were missing his anxiety medication( a controlled substance), we went back and the caregiver couldn't find it. We mentioned to her the incident with Norman mixing us the 2 patients medication boxes, she looked in the other patients' box and found my father's medication. This was extremely alarming and raised serious concerns about medication safety and compliance. Despite these significant failures in care, Layne has refused to refund any portion of the $7,800 my mother paid for six days. She insists that a contract was signed, while ignoring the fact that the facility did not meet the care standards they promised. It is clear that they are prioritizing sales over resident safety and well being. Layne has only been in charge for a few months, and while her father previously had a strong reputation, the current management is not operating at that standard. There is also another recent review describing a similar experience. Our Hospice nurse told us this facility had the appropriate care, she was going on previous visits when Don was in charge. Everything has changed since then. Based on what we witnessed, I strongly caution families to be aware of these issues. My father is at the end of his life, and the care he received at this facility was unacceptable and unsafe.

I was told that wound care was taking care of it in mid January only to find my father being rushed to the hospital on Feb 1st with malnutrition, dehydration, septic shock and upon evaluation at hospital was diagnosed with gangrene in 3 different places a few sores ready to burst and contusions in several places. Hence my father died from gangrene and the bacteria had traveled throughout his bloodstream and taken over all organs leaving my father in pain and to suffer for 8 days until he passed from the flesh eating bacteria. Please if your loved one cannot talk to you and tell you what is going on, please keep them at home safe where they can be monitored with security cameras.
