The place is very clean and bright with a very pleasant dining area. My parents love the food, staff and the onsite physical therapy with great therapist. The director said all the right things and had a friendly smile. Added bonus he was retired military and a pastor. I thought he would be a great leader. He spoke highly especially of his medication director. Everything appeared good for about 6 weeks and unfortunately the medication director was gone. A new person took the position and everything unraveled. I spoke with the director many times about issues and in his pastor role he told me that the old medication person had done things that shouldn't be done and that this lady was here to clean up. Suddenly my mom was taken off of medications without doctors orders, when I asked for her to have lab work done it never happened and when I took her out for urgent care I was told that the in house doctor might not work with me because of my actions. Long story short my mom needed to be put on a blood thinner and have a watchman device put in but needed to be cleared by doctor which never happened because she had a stroke and passed away because Wells Point Lodge dragged their feet. Every time I asked the medication director about my mom's medication, labs or doctors she gave me three excuses over and over, I just took this position, my mom died & I had COVID. This was within a 6-7 week period, 2021-2022. When my mom had her stroke I was told that she couldn't come back to facility but that I had to pay her rent for the following month unless she passed away. In that case as soon as I cleared out the apartment I would get the remaining rent back. On February 7, 2022 my mom passed away and I cleaned the apartment out completely and that was the very first time the medication director offered to help me, I'm thinking it's a little too late especially since she completely forgot that she had a call stating that my mom had had a stroke and didn't mention it to the director the week before. In the end Wells Point Lodge refused to reimburse me for the remaining money. The retired military and honest pastor said he misspoke and didn't realize that they didn't give back funds due to a death. Also I can't tell you how many times I would go visit my mother after work and just the aides were there and they were on their phones watching who knows what and you could hear profanity from the phones. Soiled ( feces) clothes sitting for a week in hampers . I want to say several of the caretakers were very helpful and caring.

(That means we had less than 0.8 antibodies) It al felt a bit sketchy so we go tested the next day at Labcorp (Walgreens). That blood draw revealed that both my father and I had antibodies over 450!! That is almost four times the immunity of a fully vaccinated person. Why would they tell us we had no antibodies?

There are several good caregivers here; however, I am unable to recommend this community because of the following issues: 1. Lack of communication: Although we were assured when she moved in that we would be updated on her care and condition on a monthly basis, we were seldom updated on her condition unless there was some kind of emergency. We received no regular status updates of how she was doing. 2. Lots of turnover: I understand the senior living industry experiences high turnover in general; however, this place is a revolving door except for a few good caregivers. Depending on who the administrator and memory care director was at the time, it varied on if we were able to communicate with the memory care director. Note: the administrator who was there at the time we moved her was very responsive and nice (Shelly Vercell) 3. Lack of activities: Lots of TV time, few activities. 4. Cost increases: Within six months they issued two large increases, justifying one by saying our mother needed additional care, and justifying the next increase so that they could pay their staff more. The place was quickly becoming a cash drain despite the problems. 5. Reimbursement of funds due to us: We had to give a 30 day notice which is understandable, and pay the month in advance. It took numerous calls and emails over two months to get the funds due back to us that we had prepaid. We were told numerous times "it's being mailed" and it was not until I called the corporate office that we received payment. No apologies from corporate, either.

I can't even begin to tell you how many activity directors left, with only a couple that were dedicated to providing residents with mental stimulation. They mostly watched t.v. or napped which is what you would expect in a nursing home and not memory care.I felt that the caregivers were dedicated and did the best that they could considering the huge turn over of staff. Communication was nonexistent and the main phone number was rarely answered. After 3 years we decided to transfer my 93 year old Mom to a different facility. She went from being kept in a wheelchair for 3 years even though she can walk without assistance to never using one at all. She has scheduled activities from morning until bedtime and never takes a nap. The facility has courtyards that the residents are encouraged to enjoy and they are taken on frequent bus trips. My Mom never left the building previously unless I took her. The last straw was taking months of calling management for the refund that we were owed after the move.We finally called the owner and never got a response but finally received the check today.
