This is less of a "review" and more of a "thank you" letter... Dear Dr. Rich and Patty, For the past 25+ years, my Keratoconus made the world appear blurry, dim and flat. I gave up on trying to find a solution after years of disappointing eye exams. I came to A V Eyes for some new sunglasses and left with a solution to my eye condition. Horrible experience year after year. The Doc is ok, the staff is like an episode from Seinfeld. "No Soup for you." We have repeatedly asked to have a copy of our prescription, so that we have it, it's like pulling teeth to get it. Our son is away, and he can't buy his glasses from them, so we want a copy of it, so that the kid can see. Also, be thankful for business and show appreciation for clients. The condescending tone of the staff and the feeling of putting them out is simply unacceptable. Head to Costco Vision center and get a dog and a soda for a buck fifty. read more

Dr Rich is one of those doctors who does it for the love of the craft. He was thorough and attentive. I did lasik 10 years ago and went in to make sure my vision hadn't deteriorated and he knew exactly all the tests to perform to make sure my questions were answered and I was well taken care of. They tried to charge me $150 extra for my eye exam because I also wear contacts. I've been getting yearly eye exams for over 10 years and have never payed more than $10 copay for a complete eye exam. They insisted that nowhere else would charge less than $100 dollars extra for an eye exam if you wear contacts. I already have a new appointment where they only charge the $10 exam copay and nothing extra from me for the contact prescription. read more

These people are a joke. They don't give you the right prescription, no matter how many times you go back to try again. The doctor assumes what's going to be best for your eyes ("I bet 1 is better than two... And three is better than four, right?") like who does that?? The worst part is he pushed me to buy a certain brand of contacts I haven't ever used before, assuring me it was actually cheaper than it was because I'd be getting a rebate, in the form of cash. FIVE MONTHS LATER after tons of calls back and forth with the company I got a "gift card"... That I can use exactly nowhere. Screw this place, screw these contacts (of which I have a years supply and can barely see out of due to his inability to prescribe and the dryness of the lenses) and screw this experience. The front staff were about as helpful and aware as a chia pet too. Just.... Go somewhere else. Do yourself a favor. read more

Dr Rich has been my family's optometrist for years!! I love the staff, I love how punctual they are with appointments and ample parking to boot! No fuss here, it's an annual ritual to get my hazel beauties checked out and the only one I trust to do so, is AV Eyes. I had trouble adjusting to contact lenses, Dr Rich was patient as I tried different ones over a few days. I almost fell for a LASIK sales pitch and he was honest about my not being a candidate. He saved me from ruining my eyes, glad I asked him for a second opinion! If you want a nice office, plenty of selection of frames and a friendly eye doctor, this is your place! This gentleman has been my eye doctor since I was 6 years old nearly 40 years. There's not a better man in the business. There's not an eye doctor in town more knowledgeable, more honest or more caring about an individual's eyesight and how it can affect their lives completely. First off, I must say the secretary as well as the other gentleman working in the office were very welcoming and polite. But I am so disgusted with Dr. Rich, he was incredibly rude and condescending. I only came to AV Eyes because my employer recommended this place. In the middle of the initial exam I got an emergency phone call from my child's school. Obviously if the school is calling more than once they are urgently trying to reach you. I had to stop the exam to get the phone because I knew this was urgent. The doctor was so incredibly rude. He demanded I get off my phone. After I repeatedly told him this was an emergency he finally backed off. I was on the phone for less than 3 minutes. I'm a mother first and foremost. You would think you could wait 3 minutes for me to handle and emergency, considering the office was dead and there was not a single person in there. I have notified my corporate office to what happened (as they refer us to AV Eyes), and will make sure our employees no longer use AV Eyes. I left almost in tears due to the hostile manner the Doctor treated me. read more

This Dr. is not warm and welcoming, he has a direct, abrupt demeanor, and rude at times. Select any other location besides AV Eyes. After spending an hour on an annual exam the appointment went down hill fast. As I walked out of the exam room I asked for the perscription, Dr. Rich said "There's no perscription." I replied "Really?" "No perscription?" and he said "That's right". I had to leave to my next appointment at the dentist and could not stay to look at frames. There was immediate pressure to stay and question of "Why can't you pick out frames now?" Ridiculous! I later called my insurance company and explained what had taken place in the office and the doctor stating there is no perscription. I said there must be, because I can't see. The insurance company called AV Eyes to explain, they flat out lied to the insurance company stating they were with another patient and could not provide the prescription...What!?! There was no one at the location except for myself being spoken down to and stuck tolerating some wierd used car sales pitch to buy the glasses. This is a dishonest office and Dr. Rich did not fullfill his legal obligations. A perscription MUST be provided to the patient after an exam, weather they ask for one or not! And when they are forced to ask...then give them the damn perscription! Unfortunately I had to return to the office, after speaking to the insurance company and now magically, there's a perscription. I then cancelled my husbands appointment for later that week. Will will not return to AV Eyes and do not patronize dishonest businesses with dishonest owners! read more

Dr Rich and his staff was excellent! We recently transferred from another eye doctor because this other eye doctor tried to get us to upgrade and to do unneccesary testing and buy the most expensive glasses out there. Dr. Rich was very professional and personable. He took the time to listen to our needs and budgets and worked with us. It's been some time since I have gone to AV Eyes and it was as impressive as I remember, the only difference now I was bringing in my 6 year old twins. From the moment I called to make an appointment to the moment I left, Lindsay was so helpful, patient and courteous. She helped confirm all my insurance and made the entire process very easy. Dr Rich was so thorough and patient with both my children knowing it was their first "real" eye exam. Lindsay was also so helpful keeping each child entertained while I was in the exam room with the other, which was extremely helpful. They treated my daughter like a little adult, helping her pick out her glasses. It was such a great experience that I booked my own appointment for later this week. Thank you for giving my children such a positive experience. They were so timid going in, but they both left completely at ease. I can't stress what a positive experience it was from start to finish. I wish I would have never gone to this place, but I went with convenience since I live close by. It was awful. The receptionist is rude, the eye exam took forever, all I needed was an annual eye exam for glasses. They do not even have a lot of frames to chose from. I found a pair that would work. (Also there is no price on the frames, so you have to ask) I was told they would be ready in a week. After a week I call and ask and I'm told yes come on over. Of course when I get there, my glasses are not ready, someone else named Amy, her glasses are ready. No apology, I'm told they might be ready tomorrow, at least apologize for the inconvenience. Lesson learned, I will go to Walmart before I ever go back to AV eyes. read more
