Tom and his crew were nothing short of amazing. We had a bit of an unusual job. We pulled up carpet expecting hardwood, and instead found sixty year old parquet that was in terrible shape and couldn't be saved. Tom and his crew rolled with the punches like professionals, walked us through our options and helped us find our forever solution. The work they did was clean, meticulous and so well executed. They did a complete floor rip-up, relayed hardwood floor and did some minor repairs to saddles and steps in just shy of two days. I would highly recommend A-Z Flooring. From beginning to end they were great. They came when promised, were diligent and professional in their work. There were about 1300 square feet to be sanded and apply 3 coats of Bona High Traffic water based poly. Four men arrived at 8:30a.m. as scheduled, removed the furniture, sanded the floors and put the first coat of sealer on, they finished about 4:30p.m. The following day Mike came back and applied the second and third coats. Punctual, did the job quickly. Price was clear and reasonable. I really liked they take credit card, especially Amex (most of sketchy contractors can't take Amex because Amex provide very good protection for customers). As we experienced fraud by other floor company (beware of "Top Tier Flooring (=American floor master=A2Z flooring), it was a peace of mind. At the end of the job, the office called us and confirmed if we are satisfied with the job before they charge the remainder of 50%. That might sound natural but actually very nice. They also said they will take care if there is any imperfection. It proves that they are responsible and trustworthy company. That is so important and hard to find. I needed 1100 sq ft. of hardwood flooring brought back to life after years of negligent tenants. I looked for someone local (South Jersey) but no one could match Tom's price. I called and spoke with Tom who had two guys at my house within 2 days. Jon and Barrack arrived on time and got to work immediately( one did all the edges and the other the main floors). Surprisingly, there was very little dust and they were able to get all my dark water stains and wear stains removed just by sanding. Recently had my flooring done sand, stain, poly. Everything seemed fine at first with the sanding and stain part yet the poly is very very cheap , satin finish and you see scratches and buff marks with every lil thing . Had to have other flooring companies come to give me estimate to rebuff and redo the poly . They all said the poly was very cheap what they used and even said it seemed like it wasn't even done . The price is right; the job isn't the best I've ever seen, although it's definitely not bad. I had them come back to fix what I was dissatisfied with, and they did correct my complaints without issue and left me satisfied overall. If you're looking for a strong value they're very good. Unprofessional, unreliable, rude and pretty much I have no idea how this man has stayed in business for so long. I waited a week to write this review after the job because I didn't want to be 1 of those irate customers that just wrote a review out of anger. The fact of the matter is I was yelled at by Mr. Tom's (owner of company) sub contractor, I Know for a fact I am not a difficult person because I own a learning program for advanced children and I have been a health care professional in a pediatric unit for 10 years now and NEVER had an issue with anyone. 90% of my business is through referrals so I must be doing something right. After being yelled at by a cheap, low class trash of a human being, Mr. Tom thought it would be appropriate to tell me that "this job has become such a headache" and "for all the times we have come back to your home I will have to charge you extra". Although, he said he was just joking I didn't find him funny or professional. Not once did he say "I'm sorry for this let me give you a discount" or "let me send someone else to finish the job"; only when I told him I would call the police if the first guy showed up to my house, he sent another crew but explained to me how this was costing him more money. anyway whats done is done. A-Z Flooring Company left my parents very satisfied with their floors. My parents had two different set of floors. One set was new, and the other old. They wanted the floors to match, which was a difficult thing to do. A-Z was knowledgeable about how to deal with this, and helped advise them towards their best options. A-Z did a Terrible job on our floors. The initial workers left sanding marks and gouges on the floor . The poly on the floor was filled with bubbles and an odd cracked finish. They came out a second time and put on a third coat, it didn't help. I was informed that the floors had to be sanded down completely again. They would not be able to get out the gouges and sanding marks but I was promised that the finish would be smooth. Well , the crackling is gone but there is long human hair lacquered into my kitchen floor, there are of course bubbles and the whole floor feels like sandpaper , I assume because they did not vacuum the floor properly before putting the finish on. I called and talked to the receptionist who told me she would call her boss about it and get back to me. That was 3 weeks ago. read more

Very Reasonably priced. They did an OK job on the floors. My closet floors were not done and when requested they told me that there were "items" on the floor, meaning they didn't want to move paint cans. They also left a sofa outside my apartment, which was a big issue since I was not there for at least a week, which they knew. There were other little things that would have been nice if they spent a little more time on, and again when requested they wouldn't budge. They also didn't do any prep with regard to coverings. Overall for the price it was a pretty good job and the floors look good.I'd recommend being there to be specific about any areas you have questions. read more

Advertises in local Philly newspaper that they do work in the Philadelphia area. After one week of broken promises and many many phone calls, the job was never done. The first excuse was the guy's truck broke down in transit. Next it was the workers are MIA and he cannot locate them. Finally on the 3rd try, the worker decided it was too far to travel to do the job. WHAT???? How do you advertise in an area where you cannot follow through? MAIN PROBLEM.......The owner is at the mercy and unreliability of his SUB-CONTACTORS. STOP Wasting everyone's time.........it is a horrible business practice !!! read more

A-Z Flooring did a great job! We had terrible floors covered with 30 year old carpet padding glue which is a nightmare to remove. The 60 year old floors look close to brand new! Maybe better? You get what you pay for. We remodeled our whole house and I asked the owner if we should paint first or do the floors first. he said if it was his house he would paint first bc he wouldn't want guys with ladders and heavy paint cans moving things around on a newly finished floor. Sounded logical so I took his advice. However, when his crew came to do the floors, they didn't cover any of the base molding with tape. They were so sloppy they got oil based polyurethane all over the moldings in my entire house. I've now learned that you can't just paint over polyurethane, you have to either sand it off or clean it off with a solvent ( which, by the way, also ruins the finish on your floor ) They also didn't vacumm the floor very well between coats bc there are pieces of hair and bits of the applicator all over the place. When I said something, they simply said, don't worry about it, I'll take care of if on the final coat, which they didn't. Overall, very disappointed with A-Z floor sanding. read more

We hired this company in March for a rental property in. After 2 days of constant rescheduling by them they showed up at 6PM. The living room in the house was sanded and finished. The job was well done but the lack of consideration for the customer's time was a big problem. We basically waited 2 days for them to show up. As compensation the owner offered to return to do the upstairs hall in that property at no charge. I agreed and we scheduled a date 10 days ahead that was confirmed (Wednesday). The day before they called and said the crew would be there Friday instead. At this point I was willing to pay to have the work completed. I told the owner I needed confirmation as I was showing the house on Sunday. It was suggested that I get another company because of crew issues that they were having. I am not sure why I was kept hanging for 10 days. The floor in the living room looks great but other than that this company is highly unreliable and there is a significant lack of consideration for the customer's time. read more
