Shady, shady, shady! Do NOT even CONSIDER using this organization. Not that they'd show up if you actually made a reservation with them. I made a reservation via phone AND email last week, as I became aware that my flight would be arriving into SFO late and I would have extra baggage. The gentleman (word used loosely) that I spoke to did not leave me with the highest level of confidence, but I was traveling and just wanted to book and get off the phone. I unfortunately did not have access to my computer to look at these reviews.....every review gives them one-star (and likely only that because there's nothing LESS than one!). A clear reflection of complete incompetence! When I arrived at SFO after a long flight, there was no one from A-1 awaiting my arrival as I was told there would be. I called the number I had used to make my reservation earlier in the day, but was sent straight to voice-mail....on which, I left a message stating I had arrived and was waiting curb-side. 10 minutes later, still no driver. I hit re-dial again to contact the company. This time a woman speaking atrocious English picked up the phone. Long story short, she called me a liar and claimed I had never called their company to make a reservation. According to her, the gentleman I spoke to earlier was actually on his day off, so there was no way I had made an appointment with him...WTH??? Also, that I must have made a reservation with another company because there was no one from her company at the airport. WTH? The logic escapes me even now. I explained to her that I had indeed made a reservation, that the call I was making at that very moment was made by hitting 're-dial' from my earlier call, and that it was concerning that, 1) I was without a ride when promised, and 2) that the guy had made a point of taking my credit card information that morning. Three times she called me a liar and was nothing less than rude and disgusting. I haven't the slightest idea why the hell I even stayed on the line with this crazy frick-a-doodle! Pure craziness in dealing with these people. These people were disrespectful, gross, rude, and just plain icky. Take the advice of EVERY SINGLE PERSON that has written a review here....RUN! Do NOT use this horrid excuse for a 'company'! I grabbed a taxi curb-side and was home in 1/2 hour. The price was $40 less than the crazy-clan had quoted me. read more

Having used the A-1 shuttle 4 times in the past 2 years, I can say that they provide decent service. On several occasions I called them internationally and had them wait at SFO airport for a ride to Fremont. Communication is a bit of a problem as the dispatcher does have a heavy accent. But other than that I found nothing else to complain about. Just used them 2 days back and happy with the service. read more

WARNING!!! AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE!!! 00000 STARS!!! I am regretting dearly that I didn't read the previous yelp reviews before I took the bait. I needed cab from Sunnyvale to SFO. The driver talked me into taking the return service too - yet the return service was $40 more expensive than the one I just took. Instead of $79 - $119! Once at SFO he parked far away from the gate - we had to walk. For my return flight I decided to go with other cab - yet they still charged me $119 for service they haven't delivered! I really, really wanted to like this company because their price is very good. I have used them multiple times. but it gets worse and worse. I thought I would throw up on the way to the airport from the guy riding the brake. Fast-slow-fast-slow. And he got lost before getting to our house and I had to call him and give him instructions. In the return way back after a long flight, you have to search for them. Called the number, asked lady on phone and she hung up on me. Next number was disconnected. Texting and talking very loudly while driving. Even after 13 hour flight I was wide awake hoping I would not get killed. Even making the reservations took my assistant a week to make. I just cannot believe how it keeps getting worse. My life is worth more than the cheap price. No more chances from me. read more

So.... I had to be at SJC for a 9:45 am flight on a Friday.... Booked a shuttle pick up at 7:30. I don't normally have an issue with accents, but, I could not understand a word this woman said. Called the day before to confirm, was only pick up... Ok cool..... Feeling pretty good about this.... till around 7:35 am the day of... ok... it's only five minutes.... no call to inform of running late.... I call at 7:40... No answer... 7:45, call.... no answer... 7:55, call... no answer... Left message each time btw... 8:00 I call again, VOICE MAIL FULL?!?!?!?! Funny side note, the recording says your business is important to us.... Oh really.... Guess MINE wasn't.... I call my wife at work on the land line, calling cab services on the cell, she's doing the same ... Finally found an alternate ride... I called for the last time at 8:30!!!!, the woman I talked to the first time, who spoke English, asked if still needed a ride, I said no, I got someone else... Since 2014 I've relied only on A-1 for shuttle services. Their service this is great. They treat me like family every time I call. They always have there vehicles cleaned, greet you very kindly over the phone, there prices are excellent. I am also one of the people who wishes they'd read the reviews first. We had a house guest who needed to take the shuttle from Concord to San Jose Airport. We booked it for 7:30, which was playing it very safe - he wanted to get there early, and I need to pick up my mom at the train station around 8. To make the long story short, the driver came 45 minutes late and said she was actually a replacement driver (although the operator had originally told me the driver got stuck in traffic - they straight out lied). My mother had to stand at the train station waiting for me to send our friend off. The operators apologized but didn't even reduce the price of the ride!!!! "We can offer a discount the next time you use our service, but can't do anything about this ride". There won't be a next time, guys. Completely unprofessional and inefficient service, and almost rude. I'd give them 0 or -1 star if I could. I just wanted to take a moment and express my satisfaction with this shuttle service. The shuttle I did reserve bailed on me last minute. ( Jerks!) I was fortunate enough to have found A-1 american shuttle. They were able to accommodate my family and I on very short notice. The vehicle was very well maintained and the driver was very friendly. I really don't like to give a star at all.. THE WORST WORST WORST ever person I had to deal with for a quote and a reservation. They will abuse, tease and treat like junk for any no reason. I wish i could give zero stars. This was just a terrible experience. I requested that there be a car seat for my kid. The driver showed up with no car seat set up. Then he points to a car seat from the back and tells me to set it up. He was rude and unprofessional and hostile. I called their office to complain and they kept insisting that the car seat was set up. IT WAS NOT. The driver told the person on the phone that he will not set up the car seat. WOW! Fortunately, I did not have the same experience as the other yelper's did. I have to say I was very pleased with A-1 American Shuttle. I will use them again and recommend them to other's too. My family and I were flying out of SFO and needed a shuttle to pick us up at our home in San Jose. We had a very early morning flight out and there were 4 adults and 1 toddler in our group. I made my reservations a week prior to leaving. I have to say, I got very nervous the night before departure when I realized I never received a booking confirmation number or anything. I tried to call them late at night and wasn't able to reach them as is was almost midnight. I told my family that we have to have a plan B in case something happened. However, there was no need for a plan B, Ricky the driver showed up 10 minutes early and was ready to load our luggage and had an infant car seat already set up and ready to take us all to the air port. We had the same experience returning from our trip. The driver picked us up from the airport right on time and got us home safe and sound. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star is because I do think they should issue confirmation booking #'s for people like me that like to have all my ducks in a row. Driver talked on the phone from SFO to East Bay hills...a long emotion charged conversation. Had trouble staying in lanes. Seemed distracted. Then charged me $40 more than the agreed upon price and insulted me since I had to write a check for this ridiculously high amount. There are much better choices. read more

I was really happy with A-1 American Shuttle. I made arrangements with them to pick up my brother from SFO and drive him to Stockton. The driver was very kind and went out of his way to communicate with my brother to find his way to the shuttle from baggage claim and then called me to let me know they were in route to Stockton. I was able to pay online by credit card and was contacted by a representative to confirm one day prior to the scheduled ride. Thank you A1 for great service. Used email to provide all details of pick up & drop off with a request for confirmation. No confirmation was provided & so I called the day prior to see what was up. Had to provide information again. Called the morning of the pick up to find out why they were late (no reason given & I canceled pick up at that point). Then drove myself to the airport. The company showed up a few minutes late to take us from Belmont to San Francisco, but the driver listened to direction and we arrived safe and on time. Now the return trip was not great at all. We arrived via a cruise ship on Sat. morning. We called as directed and was told that the driver was 3 minutes or so away. We waited on the curb or 15 minutes making one more conformation call. The driver that picked us up was not the kind and respectful driver that took us to the city. This guy drove in the bike lane, honked at the other drivers etc...all while talking on 2 phones, looking at his appt. book, digging through papers on the consul. Because he was looking at his phones he was unable to remain in his lane. I finally remarked that he was too distracted to drives He would answer the phone and tell whoever was on the other line that the driver was 2 minutes away and then hang up and complain about the call he just received. He spent more time looking at his cell phones for numbers to call than he did at the road. He then would scream at someone on the phone in his language again and again. He was rude to the caller. He then detoured, without consulting us, to SFO. Parked and told us he would be back in 2 minutes with one passenger going to Fremont. 8 Minutes later he came out with 4 passengers with luggage. There was not room for more than one person in the van due to a large amount of luggage that we carried. He then told them that he would be back in 5 minutes and took us to our home which was 15 minutes away. This man appeared to be the owner or at least the dispatcher. I called to book a reservation for my flight out of state was as easy as it gets. I called a couple of other places and kept getting a "call us back". Service was great from booking to drop off. The driver came and picked me up an hour prior to my flight and we made it 30 minutes before my flight. The driver offered snacks and was very accommodating, based on the previous looks like they are getting their act together. Would def use again. read more

I called to ask how much it would cost from SFO to Berkeley. The operator said $70. I told him the other shuttle I used to get the the airport only cost $38. He said it was because I was a single rider. I said I would go with a group--I didn't want a private ride. He said it would take two hours if I paid less for the group price. I told him I didn't think that would be the case but regardless I wanted to go with a group to save money. He screamed "no, only private" and I hung up. I mean, fine, you don't want my service, that's cool, it's not like you have a monopoly. I called Bayporter, the shuttle I took to the airport (the only reason I didn't call them initially was because I couldn't remember the name) and my driver showed up within 15 minutes. And here I am, sitting in my own van without a group, and I'm only being charged $38. The operator was very courteous at Bayporter. I highly recommend them over A1 any day. read more
