This has been a post long overdue for me. I would highly recommend A1 Carpet. I originally hired Empire Today, they came to my house gave me an estimate and I paid a deposit. The day of the installation the men came form Empire and said they could not install the carpet because the floor was tile and they didn't want to ruin the tile and after I told them it's okay, I don't care for the tile they still said no and left. Now the next day my mother in law was coming out from the hospital after being there for 3 months because of COVID. We needed new carpet. I found A1, called got a quote and asked if he could do it the next day and he said yes because of the special circumstances I was in. They had the carpet color I wanted, the price was the same price as Empire and A1 gave me a warranty, and communication was great. They arrived the next day on time and finished earlier than expected. The whole crew was amazing, very kind and extremely courteous. If I can give them 100 stars I would. They saved my situation and did a fantastic work. I will defiantly be calling them again for my carpet or flooring needs. The best customer service, and does not overcharge. Thank you A1!! read more

Before investing any time in this entity please ask to see their invoice and terms of service which have three terms everyone needs to know in advance. Make a decision based on all the information and your comfort level with it. RJ was very knowledgeable, helpful, and informative in selecting materials. After visiting several showrooms he won our trust and business. Whether it was in his control to do better or an A-1 Carpet "powers that be" corporate policy, three things about their terms, not learned until after having measured, selected materials, and ordered the job, everyone should know about. 1.) 50% deposit required before work begins, 2.) Their request to put a mechanics lien on the buyer in the event of a fee dispute (admittedly both are pretty standard and even understandable, despite the Contractor's State Licensing Board prohibiting greater than a 10% deposit) and 3.) a unilateral attorney fees provision on their invoice making the buyer responsible for reimbursing A1's legal fees for "any legal matter" that results in them prevailing - fine print on the invoice under the signature - which is troubling. Disappointed after having my hopes raised and excited to work with A1 I was willing to give on the 50% deposit, the mechanic's lien, and even the unilateral attorney fees provision, providing the provision was limited to actions surrounding a fee dispute. The overly broad language stating that "for any legal action the buyer will pay all of the seller's legal fees if the seller prevails" is unnecessary and cause for pause, especially given it is not a mutual term. RJ claimed he had no authority over the clause and that corporate would not permit him to modify it (he did not check with them to my knowledge). RJ claimed the term was meant to apply only to fee disputes but that is not what it says. He was quick to point out that as a Seller he is vulnerable to being taken advantage of. Both the buyer and seller are vulnerable to being taken advantage of. An agreement should be fair, not unnecessarily stacked against the buyer's interests. A1's intended interests could be protected without having such blatantly one-sided language. This is their policy and there is no flexibility. After having a very positive experience and deciding to contract their services, for them, this minor request - to simply have their written word reflect their oral word was a deal breaker. Any honest person, business, vendor, or corporation is not afraid to put their true intentions in writing. If their intention is to have this term apply solely to fee disputes they should have no problem languaging it that way. For such a customer service-oriented store my concern over this disturbing language was met with a take it or leave it - there's the door - posture, after swiping my credit card for the 50% deposit. I just want to call to everyone's attention their terms before wasting your and their time. I think either RJ or A1 or both could have done better to protect their interests while providing equitable and reasonable customer service. Not cool. read more

Do not use this company! Not if but when you have a problem they will blame it on you or your old house(they should have informed me of this risk before installing floors, not after). I spent almost 8k in flooring and 14 months later I'm going to have to have it ripped up and start over as I have huge gaps in the middle of my floors. Per owner, in customer service, they only guarantee work for 1 year, I guess if you want to spend 8k per year for disposable flooring then go with this company. I knew at installation that something was not right when the installer showed up with his family and they were hanging out on my couch that I had made a huge mistake. Furthermore, After we shopped around we found a better pricing for the same materials from other flooring companies in the Valley area, but it was too late we had to put a deposit and that there was a charge to back off from this bad deal which it ended up to be the worst deal in our lifetime. Don't believe all the reviews for this company. The owner is a nice guy but they lied and hustled my wife and I. Get your proposal in writing from them before you pay anything and if they attempt to add additional costs like did us ($8900 over what they proposed!) tell them you can either cancel or make them cover the overage! In addition they left a huge scratch on the floor in the dining room area over 8 pieces of wood and attempted to cover it with paper strategically placed under a few end tables. Truly cannot understand how this company is still in business. 2 weeks past the deadline and threw off our entire project and cost us are money having to extend our other house rental. They are sloppy and damaged some of our furniture as well. No accountability what so ever. This job was over $30,000 and we have scratched floors, damaged furniture and the floor squeaks in several places. The company operates in a duplicitous way. It failed to deliver the carpeting that was ordered, and substituted a vastly inferior carpet. The company manager refused to return my $ 800.00 deposit. I would strongly recommend that anyone wanting to do business with the company should find an alternative source for carpeting. read more
