I bought in the keys, and the whole transaction only cost me $235, only took about 45 minutes. Most of which was transferring the microchip, 5 minutes was the programming. The dealership wanted closer to $500-600 for one key, and told me it would take anywhere from 1-3 hours to program. Recommend to anyone needing car keys cut or programmed. We couldn't turn or open our Kwikset door knob leading out of our utility room into our garage. It appeared to be frozen or jammed. Since this occurred on a Sunday, we thought we'd take a chance and call A1 Lock & Key. To my surprise, Marty answered the phone. I told him about our dilemma, and he immediately understood what was happening; and he said he could send out a technician on Monday to fix it. On Monday morning, James of A1Lock & Key called us and stated that he would be at our home in about 20 minutes. When he arrived, he introduced himself and went straight to work. He was able to remove the latch that was stuck in place within minutes. He knew exactly what to do. In fact, he saved us about $20 when he replaced the broken latch rather than sell us an entirely new door knob. I just want everyone to know how amazing Marty is, I went in today with a key broken in half hoping he would be able to make a copy, I waited since he had a customer before me and just in that wait I saw how dedicated he is to his work. WARNING TO MY FELLOW COSUMERS - I had the weirdest experience in my life! I started calling various locksmiths on Monday. My goal was to pay less than what the dealership would charge. I talked to a Marti or Morti. I gave him the required info on my vehicle. He promptly said he'd have to call me back because he needed to look for the correct key fob that matches up with my vehicle. I said ok. I waited patiently because he had said it would cost $250.00 after about an hour, I called back. Marti/Morti said he had one of his guys still looking for the right one. Hung up; called back 2 hours later. I reminded the man on the phone whom I am and stated my vehicle. (This guy's name started with a J like James or Joel) He said, "Oh yeah we don't have it - we would have to order it." I asked, "well is it still $250?" he asked who told you that estimate. I said, Marti. He said, "Oh ok, yes youre right then." So then, I asked this guy how much more would it cost me to add a second key so lthat I might have a spare. He said, "it would be $300 or a little over that." I said ok. "lets do it then." Well I just went to pick up my vehicle: There was an older man at the cash register counter (maybe in his late fifties/early sixties) He was very charismatic and joking around. He then said, ok you owe us $350.70. I paid it thinking I was going to be given two keys. Then he tells a younger man in the back to bring me my keys. That guy hands me one key fob. I ask, where's the other key? They both look at each other then at me and deny that anyone told me what I was saying . So the older guy picks up the phone and calls another employee, Joel. He asks him on speaker phone if he told me I was going to get two key fobs. That guy denies it too. I was stunned. I just looked at those men and said, WOW! And I walked out.
