I've never had a mani pedi before. This was my first. And it was terrible. Traumatizing. I was in pain most of the time. And I have a high pain tolerance. The woman decimated my fingers and toes! She cut so much of my nail bed and cuticles off that my fingers are raw the next day. I didn't realize it wasn't supposed to be like that until I compared with my wife. She was treated by a gentlemen that was great. I've never paid $100 for such a poor experience.

I would've given them 3 if it wasn't for how my complaint was addressed. I got a dip manicure here for the first time. My nail tech was very nice and, overall, I'm pleased with the results of my nails, but during the service, she accidentally burned the top of one of my nails with the electric filer while removing my old polish. It's okay, I thought. It was an accident. But then she accidentally cut under my nail bed twice. I flinched and made a small cry and she responded that I have sensitive hands. I showed her the cuts and she didn't apologize. When I checked out, I let them know about all of this while commending the tech for being very nice. She did apologize, which was nice, but when I asked about a discount, she told me she gave me $2 off. I kind of stood there, looking astonished...at which point she increased it to $3. "It was an accident," she said. I totally get it...but "Is this what I should expect when getting my nails done? I literally have 2 flesh wounds." She then took a picture of my hands...not really sure why...but offered nothing further. All they had to do was say sorry and comp a larger part of my $70 service. Because they didn't, I won't be back.

I hate having to write a review that isn't favorable. In fact I waited three months to write this. As you can see from the pictures I've posted I used to come here and was very happy with the service and how my nails and feet came out. I visit my home state of Michigan fairly often and always am on the lookout for a good nail salon. I thought I had found it with A2 Nails but this last visit sealed the deal for me that I won't be returning. First I want to say this place was great pre-pandemic and started going down hill after the state started opening again. The owners, Paul and Linda, were very nice when I first started coming here about three years ago. Paul does a great job with a pedicure and Linda was always the one to do my nails. She's not overly friendly but she was efficient. The last two visits she was extremely rude and almost seemed bothered that I was there. She barely said one word to me and when I asked her if she could sand the corners a little better she said are you calling me a liar? I said no ma'am I just like the corners smooth and can still feel the acrylic stuck to the nails. She said to me I've been doing nails for many years and I go over them really quick you don't even know I get the corners. Well I do know she didn't touch the corners but I didn't say anymore. I figured OK let her finish it's not the end of the world. The tipping point was when I went to check out she charged me $70 for gel nails. I've been getting my nails done since 1998 and know the price of nails and what they cost and even with inflation and the rising prices $70 is still way too much for just basic gel nails. I had no designs, special colors, or even a special shape. When I went to pay and she said $70 I didn't even question it and handed her my debit card just wanting to be out of there. She flung the debit card back at me it fell on the floor. I don't know if I looked horrified or stunned but all she said was sorry very rudely. I said no problem and picked up my card off the floor and still tipped her 20%. I should have probably told her where she could stick it and left no tip but maybe she'll feel bad for the way she treats her customers and will change. I do know that I won't be coming back here again. What a shame because this used to be a great nail salon.

I think that I am spoiled with my salon in Anaheim, CA (have to shout out Nexus Nails). I just moved to Ann Arbor 4 months ago and felt that I should find my new salon here. At Nexus, if you make an appointment you get assigned a nail tech or you request your nail tech so that when go in for your appointment, you are not made to wait 35 minutes. Here, I was given an appt time of 10am (their opening time) and when I came in, all nail techs were working on other clients and I waited 35 minutes. And at Nexus, they don't charge extra for gel/shellac removal. Here, it is $5 for removal. There, I paid $32 for gel mani and $37 for gel pedi. Here, it is $40 for gel mani and $48 for gel pedi. Also, here they charge $2 extra if you pay with credit card. So paying more I would expect a better job. The gel pedi went well! And then we moved onto the gel mani. Looking at my nails (shown in picture), I realize I should have asked for an additional coat. But also, they should recognize that and it felt like the nail tech was rushing towards the end. I will not name her because I don't want her to receive fewer clients, but this is just feedback for the salon. I don't feel sad tipping my nail tech in California a ton of money because she will fix any tiny thing I point out and give me great feedback on how she thinks things are looking. Here, I tipped $8 and then the owner as I was checking out said "wow she only tipped $8 for a $95 total." Well if I was happier with the service and my money did not go to hidden fees, then I definitely would have more to tip. So, sadly will just be getting my nails done in Anaheim, CA when I am home visiting my family. I have done 3 5-star reviews with photos for Nexus nails if you're curious on what 5-star nail service looks like.

My nails unfortunately look worse than they started with. It was a gel manicure; she clipped so much of my fingertip skin off and ground the nail down to just the bed. I'm sad that I spent money to ruin my nails.

I recently moved to Ann Arbor during the pandemic. I was in need of a pick me up. I haven't been to a nail salon since October 2019 (my wedding). Today I called A2 Nails and they were able to get me booked for a gel manicure and pedicure within an hour of opening. I've been hesitant of any and all public places. Upon entering A2. They took temps, had strategically placed plexiglass dividers, mandatory social distancing, and everyone was masked. It was a relaxing experience. I got my mani/ pedi with Paul. He took special time, care, and attention. The stone massage was the best ever. He was extremely kind and highly skilled. I'm appreciative of this business abiding by the safety measures, great service, and helping someone feel good on a crummy day. Thank you Paul! I'm a returning customer!

My niece and I went here to get our nails done and we were both very disappointed. Nails were done horribly, I got a pedicure and she got a fill. Manager did not offer any type of discount and was argumentative. I left before letting them touch my nails. Never going back. The pictures say enough.

Came for an acrylic fill and gel polish. There were hundreds of nail colors to choose from which I loved. The owner did my nails and did a spectacular job. Fixed some shaping issues from my last manicure at a different salon, filled and painted my nails in no time! Will definitely be back! read more

Updated review during COVID 19: they are doing a great job with safety here- limited customers, plexiglass shields, everyone wears mask and they screen temperature at the door. No wait time. Make sure to call ahead to make appointment. I am a nail biter and they have helped me stop biting and they are so kind and helpful, take their time and do a wonderful job on natural nails and cuticle care. read more

5 star pedicure!! I am new to the area and had an absolutely wonderful experience at A2! Linda and Paul were incredibly welcoming, kind, & patient from the moment I walked in and never rushed me. Linda did my pedicure - I have never had someone spend so much time on each part of the process (including each individual nail)!! My nails turned out absolutely beautiful. I was looking for a new place to get my nails done and found this salon on Yelp. I called in the morning and was able to get an appointment the same day. I arrived on time at 1:30 for my appointment, but waited until 1:55 to be seated. Opted for a shellac manicure and pedicure. Most of the neutral/light colors I wanted for my nails were out of stock, but I was able to find something that I liked eventually. That was the end of my disappointments,as Paul did an excellent job and took his time. The place itself is very well-kept, clean, and modern. He was careful and precise, and was pleasant and conversant. The entire manicure/pedicure took just under two hours. I'm very pleased and will be back again, though I may bring my own polish to be sure I get the colors I want next time. read more

Our experience (my mother and I) was entirely wonderful! Outside of the exceptional nails, the staff was super kind, had great technical knowledge of the process, and cared about making sure our nails came out exactly as asked. The salon is very clean and was cleaned between clients. I would book ahead in the future because they are very popular but we were able to get a manicure pedicure (gel) on walk in. Went for pedicures after finding them online. Thom did my pedicure and did a great job. Got shellac and they were very clearn and bright. Took his time did great work. Got hot stones and the hot towel on my legs which was great. I called ahead to be sure they had space for me and we got right in and started. Plan to come back soon!! read more

Very upset with this place! 1. When asking to get an overlay and shellac, they insisted that it was too expensive and I didn't need it because my nails were long. 2. When I opted for shellac only, it was very poorly done! The lady did too many coats making the nail look very uneven and the tips ended very thick! read more

Toes chipped after a couple days (and I work from home so I don't do much). Asked for stiletto, specified EXTREMELY POINTED. Basically got an almond shape with a slight point. They charged me extra for the shape AND I showed them a pic of what I wanted but they still got it wrong. Probably fine for other nail styles but don't trust them with stiletto and avoid pedicures all together here. Having tried a few different nail salons around the Ann Arbor area, I've become a faithful client of A2 nails for the past year or so. Paul typically does my gel manicure - his attention to detail is impeccable, he's always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you're happy with your nails... and not to mention, he's great to talk to! While they do accept walk-ins, I'd definitely recommend making an appointment for your sake and theirs. read more

I never really liked any of the nail salons in Ann Arbor, until I came here. Almost all the nail salons do such a half ass job and they're not very friendly. They care more about getting the job done than quality. A2 Nails Spa has the BEST customer service. Everyone there is super friendly and welcoming. I came at 7PM and they were willing to still give me a shellac mani and spa pedi even though they were closing at 8PM. Even when they were about to close, they gave me such amazing service. Melissa did my shellac mani and Amina did my pedi. I felt like a princess. They didn't rush any of it. I also had a hard time choosing the colors I wanted for my nails so they both spent time to help me pick. They didn't my rush me and showed me how all the colors would look like on my nails. I couldn't believe how friendly they were. The atmosphere is so friendly and warming. I found my favorite nail salon. I will definitely be back! . read more

Paul is great! I made an appointment for a pedicure and gel manicure and truly had one of the best nail experiences I've ever had. Paul is so meticulous and friendly, and he really took his time making sure each nail was shaped and filed well. I've been to a few other nail spas in the area, but I wasn't in love with any of them. Moved into the area last week to start a residency program at UM. As with any big move, I've been working to establish some new favorites. I visited A2 Nail Spa yesterday after an extensive review of Yelp. Sundays are walk-in days, with no appointments. After waiting two hours, I was asked to sit in Linda's chair. She did a great job on my nails and I noted before leaving her workstation that I would like to be scheduled with her two weeks out for a fill. She immediately told me that she's scheduled several months out because she has so many regulars. I told her no worries, I'd check with the receptionist about her next free weekday appointment and in the time between getting regularly scheduled with her, I'd just pop in as a walk-in on Sundays. The receptionist was able to secure an evening weekday appointment for me on Linda's schedule six weeks out in October. Linda, however, did not seem happy about this. She was yelling from her workstation to receptionist as he was attempting to book me for the next available spot on her schedule. They went back and forth a bit, which was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. I asked if there was a problem. In English, Linda again insisted that she was booked several months out even after the receptionist confirmed that she was free on 10/17 at 6 PM. She then offered that instead of scheduling appointments with her, I should just keep coming in on Sundays as a walk-in. Uhhhh and wait two hours in the salon before getting my nails done every other week? No ma'am. Try again. After the receptionist confirmed that I was booked for 10/17, Linda stated, "I might be here or I might not because I go other places." Huh? We all go "other places," Linda. That's life, but what does that have to do with you being present and available for an appointment I now have with you 6 weeks from now? Just weird. At some point during this exchange, she left a client she was servicing at her workstation and came over to the reception desk to further explain that she's booked out for months. Linda, are you paying attention? In Maury's voice, after a review of your schedule, the receptionist has determined that is a lie. You, ma'am, are booked out for several WEEKS. Not several MONTHS. Linda clearly expressed to me that she takes appointments and that she has many regulars. Her behavior, however, indicated to me that she did not want me to be one of them. I'm a psychologist. I study human behavior for a living. On the drive home, I attempted to process whether Lina was being rude and/or discriminatory. Ultimately, I decided it didn't actually matter and I cancelled the October appointment. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time. I can wait two hours on a Sunday to see you, but for whatever reason, you'd prefer I not become one of your regulars? Not a problem at all as I'm not going to beg, book, AND pay. That's not a thing. It's back to the drawing board because I will never go back to A2 Nails Spa. read more

This place is amazing! The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing and clean. Every time I go, I ask for something out of the normal and they're always happy to oblige. Jenny does wonderful work and makes sure that my nails are exactly the way I want them. Her attention to detail was impeccable and she took her time to get it perfect. There is easy parking right in front of the spa and it feels spacious when you walk inside. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a friendly, professional, and affordable mani/pedi. read more

I came to take my Gel X nails off and requested a regular gel manicure. The lady who I think is the owner kept telling me they were acrylic nails. I told her they weren't acrylic and she continued to tell me they were acrylic nails. So she told the nail tech it was acrylic and I had to explain to him and showed him a picture of Gel X nails. He was very kind and was honest that he had never worked on someone with Gel X nails. I had to explain how to remove them and he was very sweet, friendly, and wasn't bothered. I would recommend him to anyone who goes there. I would go again but unfortunately the lady was not very good at understanding and listening to what I was saying. read more

BEST MANICURE IVE EVER HAD! I just came in for a refill on an existing acrylic set, but I was totally blown away by the services starting from their huge color selection. I called ahead by about an hour, made an appt and got seated immediately when I walked in and had a design in mind. Linda literally works at HYPER SPEED (whole refill with two replacement tips took just over an hour- normally takes like 1:45-2) but is still extremely precise. I feel like she could do it with her eyes closed. No one can ever get the shape that I like exactly right, but she absolutely nailed it (get it?). Her style of applying the acrylic is great too, they're not too thick which is how I like it. The design I brought wasn't quite going to work because I wanted them a bit shorter, so she added the squiggles and then even suggested I add the darker green to make the design pop. I am incredibly pleased with them and I'm going to be an avid customer of this place from now on. I highly highly recommend them!! read more

This place really clean and nice! The awesome reviews is what brought me here. I ended up calling to see how much it was since i couldn't find the prices online. The lady at the desk was very frank and to the point. This was my first time getting shellac and i think it looks nice! I will definitely update this review to see how long it will last. The whole process only took about 30 minutes. A younger lady did my check out and was much more welcoming, asked how everything was and if i enjoyed it. I will definitely return but probably will ask for the younger lady once i figure out here name since she was much more friendly! Wow! If I lived here this would be my place. It's so hard to find a consistent pedi place that doesn't try to get you in and out in 20 minutes by skimping and rushing! The super nice young lady who did my mani/pedi was the kindest most diligent nail person I've ever had. She told her time and my nails have never looked better. No mistakes, no stray polish and the shape is excellent. She treated me like family. It was very reasonable price for such great service! read more

Pass on this Salon - The owner is rude and acted like the 4 of us were an imposition. Prices are 30-40% higher than anywhere else in Ann Arbor and they charge an additional $10 each for removing gel or dips, as well as for feet requiring extra work! The dips were uneven and badly shaped. There are plenty of other better choices in Ann Arbor. read more

Now, no more fighting with Washtenaw traffic and an awful parking lot to go there (two things beyond their control). I definitely think my nails will be a lot healthier and my body more relaxed now that this location is in my life! This new space is huge (TONS of chairs) so as long as they have the staff to fill them, I think long waits will be a thing of the past. The chairs are all brand new and and are mega comfy (massage chairs, of course) with cup holders and little tables for holding your belongings. When you come in you not only pick your polish but also a lotion scent for them to use (there are a number of choices). There's a separate manicure area, the pedicure area (including a few chairs for kids), and a private party area where you can book a girls (or guys!) night out. AND they have a bar!! Perfect for a little soiree! Shellac is also an option (both mani and pedi) as is acrylic/gel and they also offer waxing services. The girl who did my pedicure today was named Yen and she was a sweetheart. And she did the most wonderful job, taking great care to exfoliate and clean up my gnarly feet (hey, it's gardening season! I've been kneed deep in dirt the last month) and make them sandal ready. At her suggestion I went with the Nu Skin pedicure which, while more expensive, uses more exfoliating products which my poor feet really needed. I came out baby smooth. I'm not sure my feet will always need this extra treatment but I'm glad to have the option. There was also a mighty good massage and hot stones involved. Excellent. The location next to Plum Market it also convenient. Plenty of parking but also a nice option to get a coffee or a snack next door if you want to enjoy as you get pampered! I am beyond psyched that you're here, Diva Nail Spa! Can't wait to see you again!

Absolutely horrible experience. The man who did my pedicure, Paul, was very sweet. However, I set up an appointment for 4pm for 2 mani/pedis last week. My moms pedi started shortly after arriving, but mine started at 4:45pm. My nails were not started for quite some time following it. We had dinner reservations at 6PM thinking an a hour and a half would be plenty of time for simultaneous appointments. We asked if I could get a voucher or come back tomorrow to do my mani since it was 5:30pm and it had not been started (keep in mind our reservation was a 15 minute drive). They told us we would have plenty of time for my mani (they finished at 6:15pm making us 30+ minutes late for our reservation). My mom left a review regarding this and was yelled at by the woman, Linda, who seems to be in charge of the shop VERY rudely and abusively stating that "if we didn't like it we can go somewhere else" and "if we can't afford it why would we do it" (we had already paid and yes, while it is extremely overpriced for VERY mediocre work - I've done far better using my home manicure kits). It is truly disgusting how Linda chooses to treat her customers and, to be frank, this place should simply be closed. If Linda hates her work so much she should close shop and go somewhere else, just like she recommended we do. I cannot recommend this place at all unless you like waiting for absurd amounts of time only to be verbally abused in front of the entire establishment when you make a simple complaint. I will not be returning and I will be telling everyone I know not to book their mail appointments through this place. Linda, get your attitude in check. You're extremely rude, abusive and should NOT be managing anything. People like you are the reason businesses fail, like yours likely will if you continue to act like this. read more

A long time ago, I gave up trying to find a nail salon that I would like. Every time I tried a new place, I walked away unsatisfied. But unfortunately for me and my terrible nail beds (chronic nail/cuticle biter over here), I have several big events coming up that I needed to get my nails done for. Reluctantly, I began to look for a new place to try. I ended up asking a girl in one of my classes (whose nails always look good) and she recommended A2. On a whim, I made an appointment. I'm so glad I did. I walked away completely satisfied from my shellac manicure with a burning desire to go back until I have to move away from Ann Arbor. The people who run this place are friendly, attentive, and dedicated to their work. Consistently, my manicurist, Paul, asked me if I was doing okay. I heard the girls next to me raving about Linda who was doing their acrylic/dip manicure as well. He cut my cuticles so gently and with so much precision that I didn't even bleed (which normally happens). My natural nails are so beautiful that for the first time in my life, I'm not embarrassed about my hands. You need to make an appointment because they don't have as many people working as some of the bigger salons in town, but it is SO worth it. Their attention to detail and patience is so wonderful. I've been going to this salon for about 8 months or so. Originally I was really happy there. Paul is a fabulous nail tech. He's definitely the best that I've been to, hands down. The main problem is the management. When I went in for my scheduled mani/pedi appointment (5:00) I was told that my name wasn't in the book, but the tech was almost finished so I could wait (first clue that things were not going to go well). In the meantime, the person whose name WAS in the book (for my same tech, also mani/pedi) for a 5:00 appointment came in and was told to wait. After some discussion by the folks who work there, she was seen by another tech and then ANOTHER person came in for a 5:30 mani appt with the SAME TECH. REALLY?? I ended up having one tech do my pedi...waited...and had another tech do my mani. I'm pretty sure my (shellac) mani will only last a week because of the speed at which it was done. Not happy. Not going back. Fix you management and scheduling and maybe you'll keep customers happy and KEEP customers. read more

I called ahead and made a reservation on a Wednesday night. When I walked in the door I was greeted by Linda. The prices were explained to me BEFORE my appointment and agreed upon which I appreciated as opposed to being given a price AFTERWARDS. My temperature was taken and I had to wear a mask. Nail color samples are not allowed to be touched. I got a pedicure and hanging in front of me from the ceiling was plexi glass. The pedicure I received was AMAZING, she even used hot rocks. The music playing was very relaxing. Next was my full set. I sat down and there was plexi glass in front of me. Everything was neat and clean. She took her time and my nails look really good! Linda did an amazing job in my nails! I used to come much more often for the shellac manicures, which were always lovely, but I got my acrylics done here for the first time today, and they look phenomenal. The services here are always in demand and they are so busy, but still take the time to make you feel welcome! Linda was so careful and attentive, and the end product is so amazing that I can't stop looking at them. Linda really took the time to listen to what I wanted and checked in with me throughout my manicure to make sure I was perfectly satisfied. I won't be going anywhere else as long as I'm in Ann Arbor! Paul, the nail tech, was so friendly and nice throughout my entire visit. He was so polite and nice and did an amazing job. I got a shellac mani/pedi. I've been going to this place for years now. They always do a stellar job, they take their time, I never feel rushed and I appreciate that. I have natural nails and opt for a shellac manicure when I go in. Their selection for shellac polish is my favorite, they have an amazing color selection- including mood color changing, prismatic, chunky glitter, etc. On average my manicures last 2-3 weeks, honestly 3-4 weeks if Paul does them (ask for him!). I'm an archaeology student and a skin care professional, so I work with my hands a lot. I have to say that I received the best pedicure I've ever had. My nail technician was Jenny and she was excellent and a sweetheart. I received the spa pedicure, which I'd highly recommend. From start to finish, I was impressed. You know how most nail salons have all the polish in random order on the wall? Not here. Everything was organized by color and type of polish. Came here for the first time today to have some birthday pedis and were able to make a same day appointment for 3 people. Linda was my technician and she was a hoot. Not only did she do an amazing job with my spa pedicure but she and the other technicians were nice, friendly and cracking jokes in a way to make this an even better experience. Linda really was great amd spent extra time making sure to give me the best pedi I have had. I walked in with my friend on a Sunday expecting to wait, as it was pretty busy. We waited an hour and I ended up waiting another hour while my friend's nails were done before mine. BUT...our nail tech was Paul and he was amazing! He did a great job with both of our shellac manis and was very kind in the process. They waived my polish change fee due to the wait and overall I was very happy with the quality of the service provided. I will be back. If you come on a Sunday for their walk-in hours, be prepared to be there for at least an hour or two. They are one of the only nail salons in town open on Sunday. read more

This place by far has the nicest staff I've ever met, they care and they take their time with each customer. They joke around with you and keep a conversation going without making you feel awkward while someone is touching your feet lol. Paul is amazing! He did such a wonderful job on my shellac manicure and regular pedicure! He has great attention to detail, he is funny and easy to talk to, and such a hard worker! He stayed an hour past closing to make sure that my nails were complete and did not rush and was so kind about it! I've been coming here for a few months now and have definitely found my go-to place in the area. Every time I've gotten a shellac, it has almost never chipped, even for an entire 3 weeks. Went here once while visiting a friend in Michigan and it quickly became one of my favorite nail salons! I got acrylic nails with gel polish and they're all still in pristine condition three weeks later. The nail polish hasn't chipped and none of the nails are even close to coming off. My sister wrote a review on Yelp stating the experience she had at A2 Nails; so then she received a call from A2 Nails getting screamed at " what the hell are you coming in like a gangster" how do we look like gangsters. I bought my two little nieces to do their nails for their birthday, and my mom was there with us. I think it was because we were wearing scarves as Muslim women so I'm pretty sure this was intended as a racist remark. I feel so attacked, thank god we left. read more

Wonderful service! We went in to get bridal party nails done. The staff was very kind about helping me figure out a timeline, since I hadn't really booked anything like this before. The salon is gorgeous, wonderful chairs, AMAZING color selection. The nails came out looking great - uniform color, super smooth, sharp along the edges with no smudges or weird borders. I was a first time customer and they squeezed me in at the last minute. I was extremely pleased with their service. On entering the salon, I was impressed by its cleanliness and decor, live orchids all around the check in desk. The staff was friendly and courteous. I found A2 Nails Spa on Yelp. They had a great rating. I went on a Sunday, which is the one day of the week they only take walk-ins (no appointments). I went when I knew I had time. Although they were busy, I was seated in a comfy chair with running water within 10 minutes. They work hard, are friendly, and do a really great job with pedicures. It always felt rushed and I did not feel relaxed during my appointments. On my second visit, they did not give care to my nails and overdrilled it to a painful point. Safe to say I will not be back again.

I told the lady I would like gel take off and new gel, she told me no "only dip". She aggressively started grinding down my gel polish and hit my cuticle multiple times. Then had me put my nails in a bowl of acetone to remove the polish. After multiple dips and grinding sessions she did not have me rinse off my hands but instead started putting on the base polish immediately. I should have got up and left when she pulls her "nippers" out of a drawer, clearly not sanitized, and proceeded to hack away at my cuticle. She nipped a little too close a couple times and caused minor bleeding. Through the entire dip process she seemed bored and did not appear to be paying attention to her craft. Once complete my nails did not look anything like the color I had chosen and are practically see through at the top of the nail. I am so disappointed in my experience, and while the salon looks nice I will be staying far far away.
