I was surprised after I finished my service by the cost of a shellac polish change ($25), when a full shellac manicure is only a little more ($28)... my own fault I guess for not checking the price beforehand, but other salons charge significantly less for a polish change rather than a manicure and I was in a hurry. Fabulous! I used to begrudgingly frequent the Arborland store (GREAT services and staff horrible location relative to my house) so imagine my excitement when I saw that they were opening another location right down the street from me! Now, no more fighting with Washtenaw traffic and an awful parking lot to go there (two things beyond their control). I definitely think my nails will be a lot healthier and my body more relaxed now that this location is in my life! This new space is huge (TONS of chairs) so as long as they have the staff to fill them, I think long waits will be a thing of the past. The chairs are all brand new and and are mega comfy (massage chairs, of course) with cup holders and little tables for holding your belongings. When you come in you not only pick your polish but also a lotion scent for them to use (there are a number of choices). There's a separate manicure area, the pedicure area (including a few chairs for kids), and a private party area where you can book a girls (or guys!) night out. AND they have a bar!! Perfect for a little soiree! Shellac is also an option (both mani and pedi) as is acrylic/gel and they also offer waxing services. The girl who did my pedicure today was named Yen and she was a sweetheart. And she did the most wonderful job, taking great care to exfoliate and clean up my gnarly feet (hey, it's gardening season! I've been kneed deep in dirt the last month) and make them sandal ready. At her suggestion I went with the Nu Skin pedicure which, while more expensive, uses more exfoliating products which my poor feet really needed. I came out baby smooth. I'm not sure my feet will always need this extra treatment but I'm glad to have the option. There was also a mighty good massage and hot stones involved. Excellent. The location next to Plum Market it also convenient. Plenty of parking but also a nice option to get a coffee or a snack next door if you want to enjoy as you get pampered! Horrible service. Manager was incredibly rude and yelled at me when I got up to leave after 40 minutes of chaos... all of the dip colors were mixed up and not matching their numbers. The last time I was here and got shellac and it lasted for two days before completely peeling off my nails so I didn't want to get that again. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to come back to put on normal polish on I got up to leave and the manager insisted I pay for everything and come back the next day. I offered to pay for the services they did today but was unsure when I would be able to come back so I did not want to pay the full price. So I have been here in the past with great results. So I figured I would just stop in and get a pedicure and acrylic fill with shellac manicure. The salon is beautiful, and the lady that greeted me was really nice, but that was about it. The pedicure was kinda the worst I had in a while, she seemed as if she was just going thru the motions, and it was really rushed and fast that I just could not relax and enjoy it. Then I went to get my nails done by someone else who seemed just as uninterested, she was eating chips while I was sitting down lol. I had to remind her that I wanted a manicure. She trimmed my cuticles , and applied oil on them, no massage or anything! I walked out paying $105 plus a $20 tip for a very unrelaxing service that I had been looking forward to all week. So far this has been the best experience that I've had in Ann Arbor. I get gel nail manicures and my experience has been great! I've gone twice and seen two different people. My friend has had two separate people and all 4 have been fabulous and professional! I think my only complaint is that they have a lack of staff the first time we went, so we were waiting around for ~10 minutes to start our gel pedicure and mani combos. This, however is more a problem when you're in a rush and as walk ins on Sunday afternoon, we weren't bothered. The other time we went in (last Tuesday) the wait was much shorter. The gel on my hands and feet has lasted for 2-3 weeks before I get it stripped off, so it's been a good deal. My toe gel polish has lasted over a month! I am planning on going back regularly! This location is also ultra fancy and I love love love it!! If I could change two things, I'd have them offer drinks instead of having them give them out on request. I'd also have them put their gel options on the nail samples. Picking by the bottle - the struggle is real!! Fun tip: get them to add glitter to your nails instead of finding a polish that is pre glittered!! read more

I literally left in tears after my appointment because my "purple" color ended up being black once he put the clear coat on at the end. He also filed my already short nails down so far that I can't even get them redone to look acceptable. I have gradation and in an interview in the next two days and was hoping to have spectacular looking nails for each, but instead I now have short stubby black nails. I was really happy with my initial visit to the Arborland location, but even after me telling him I didn't like my nails and eventually tearing up because of his prodding, I was still charged full price. Today I was treated like many of the reviews below - very poorly. I have been a LONG time client of Diva (was a first at their Washtenaw location) and have spent a lot of $$ at both locations. I even gave the owners 2 cases of wine to utilize for their Grand Opening of this spot. I got shellac mani/pedi on Friday only to return 3 days later as one nail on my toes completely peeled off and 3 nails on my hands chipped. When I was getting the mani, I mentioned that the polish was too thick. Instead of taking off and starting over, Ruby just covered with another coat of a different brand in a similar color. When I returned today with my chipped/peeling nails Ruby blamed ME for the problem. She said "that's why I told you it was too thick." Really?? Come on. Then she proceeded to tell me that that is why she said "Three coats would be too thick." Truth is, she ASKED me if I 'wanted another coat' and I said "no, because I am already concerned that the polish was too thick. Ruby was clearly annoyed with me, that I came in to get them fixed. When I asked her if we could just re-do my manicure and she said "no." After I said I would pay for it, I got what I wanted. This is really disappointing as I was one their most loyal customers. FILTHY!!!! I do not trust sanitation practices after seeing their absolutely disastrous bathrooms and back of the house.

I walked in thinking that I was going to take my acrylic nails off and get a pedicure while I was there. After the pedicure, one of the women working there told me that it would be better for my nails if I used gel on them instead of acrylic. I agrees and told the woman (I think she was the owner) to go ahead. She used a powder and told me it was the gel. Later I learned that gel will never come in a powdered form and when I went to my usual nail technician, she could not even file off whatever it was that this woman put on my nails. In addition to being lied to by the owner, I walked out spending over $80. I'm giving them 1 star because my nails looked nice, but I was under the impression that I was getting gel and ended up getting some other substance for three times the price of an acrylic fill. read more

Hands down, horrible. Both times. They performed the wrong service during my initial visit, even as I tried to remind them several times throughout, what I had been asking for (a full set of gels-- they continued with a regular manicure). They finally realized when she had put one hand of polish on that I kept asking if she was planning on putting on tips-- and her reply was, ok we'll do that next time. I at least asked if she was planning on charging me full price for this service and she said she would take care of me. As I went to pay, she offers me $5 off. I scoffed and paid, then asked to speak with the manager. I remained cordial and understanding as I can understand mistakes do happen and I didn't have another hour+ to spend for them to redo it. The manager reassures me that he will take care of it next time, on him. I ask if he was planning on giving me a gift cert or some sort of voucher but he insists that he will remember me the next time I come in. I'm skeptical, obviously, but I give up and leave. About 3 weeks later, I'm back to claim my set. The original tech actually remembers me as I walk in and proceeds to give me what I want-- which I felt relief from. But she filed so hard and without care that she cut me pretty deeply in my pinky, then takes her nail and shoves the cotton swab to clean it which caused me a really significant amount of pain. (It developed a small infection and took about 4 weeks to heal.) I'm ready to check out and tip her nicely, even though she had cut me, when the manager charges me $50 for my service. I'm in shock, but realize my initial skepticism was valid. If you've read this far, I'd hope you'd understand my shock. I ended up debating with him for 10 minutes, recalling my last experience and his word (!), and he just continues to passively argue that my service today was extra and that its not something he can give me for free. I was so taken aback, upset and wanted to leave that I gave him my card and told him to charge me whatever he wanted but I would remember this and would never be back. He swiped my card and I left in an upset daze. The nail job was overall ok, but far from perfect. Nail lengths were even but shapes were all over the place. I ended up filing them and shaping them myself when I got home. All in all, this was one of the WORST customer service experiences I've ever encountered. I really needed a manicure and stopped into Maple Village Diva Nails last night because I was on that side of town. I didn't realize that the management/owner had changed. I haven't been to this location in about a year. When I got there around 6:30pm there was one other customer getting their nails done... I couldn't decide if it was my lucky or unlucky day with it being so empty. I was asked several times if I wanted to get a dip manicure (politely turned down several times) instead of a shellac manicure because my "nails were weak." When my nails were being done, the tech pushed so hard to remove the old shellac I think my nail bed is bruised. My cuticles were mangled. There's shellac all over my finger tips and around my nails. Top coat isn't even. I didn't get any lotion on my hands or massage just a little bit of oil. When I was paying, I was told that tipping was cash only. Also, the price for a shellac manicure is more expensive than other places in town. I probably won't be going back to this location. read more

Came here with a girlfriend for pedicures today to check out Diva's new location. This place is sprawling- there are multiple rooms and tons of chairs- there are two entire rooms dedicated solely to pedicure chairs! When you walk in for your appointment you get to pick your nail polish color AND the scent your want for lotion. I was seated at a chair, given water and soaked my feet for a while before my pedicure. The $35 pedicure includes a full foot scrub, massage, paraffin wax and nail cleaning/shaping/painting etc. For $5 more, I believe they will treat your feet with a deep tissue moisturizer. My nail tech was great- by the time she was done my feet were smooth and clean and my nails were beautiful. I'll definitely be back- I really like Diva Nail Spa! read more

I had received a gift card for Christmas to this salon. I'd never been before, so I thought I'd try it out. Come to find out at checkout, there is no money left on my gift card because according to them someone had already used it. Funny, since today was my first time at this salon. I asked what they were going to do about it because it was NOT me who used my gift card. They said there was nothing I could do... The system said the card was empty. So thank you, Diva Nails for making me pay a second time for this service. Hope the bonus money makes you happy, since I won't be back. Also, after a regular pedicure... I was ushered out of the salon as there is no place to let your nails dry and apparently they needed the chair (even though 10 others were empty). We told her and she very politely suggested the "Relax Package". Having no idea what that was we agreed to it, our own fault. The pedicure was very relaxing, I have no complaints there. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I came for a deluxe pedicure with my friend and it was amazing. The chairs are amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. I thought that the price was great. I also got acrylics, she asked me to show her how long I wanted which was nice and doesn't always happen when getting acrylics. I keep getting compliments on them, they are the perfect length and color. I like how they aren't too thick like some are. I took my statements in and they claimed I tipped the extra amount but I always tip in cash. I won't go back and will look elsewhere because this is theft, outright. Terrible place! We made an appointment for 4 manicures for my daughters 11th birthday. She has only been treated to something like this 1 other time. We show up on time. Wait for 20 minutes. We are then seated and wait another 10 minutes to have someone come talk to us. They only had ONE nail tech to do all 4 clients. I explained that this was a birthday, as I had told them when making the appointments, and that they wanted to all get their nails done together, not one by one. It's now been 40 minutes! The woman then says, they are little girls, they don't need manicures, maybe I just paint nails! What? Why would I try to take my daughter out with friends, pay manicure price to just have them do something that I could do at home! We ended up telling her that that was not acceptable and she said she that was all she could do. Great way to ruin an 11 year olds birthday with her friends. I was so bummed out for my daughter and a little embarrassed that I had chosen such a lousy place! We walked out with not even an apology from this woman!! I came in here, unplanned, immediately after I left ANOTHER nail salon as my manicure was terrible. I came in without an appointment and was promptly greeted and they let me know where to sit after choosing a nail color. The staff member greeted me as soon as I sat down and got to work, cleaning up the job from the place before and not saying a word about how bad it was! Decided to try Lorene Nails and Spa for the first time on Saturday, Feb 15th. I went there around 5pm, and there weren't any other customers, which should have made me leave right off the bat - hindsight is always 20/20... I got a full set of acrylic nails, coffin shape with shellac on top for $50. 8 out of 10 nails were off within 5 days. I went back the following Thursday and he was happy to do another full set for free, however blamed the reason all of my nails came off on my nail beds... lol. Well here I am, 6 days later, and all 10 nails are off. Not once, but both occasions - each nail came off so easily, what a waste of 2+ hours of my time and $65 ($10 tip 1st time, $5 the second time) I won't be going back. read more

Beautiful space, but quality is still hit or miss, even if it's not busy. The owners are passionate, but many of the staff just cut corners. For example, trying to place toe separators on after coats of dark polish, essentially smudging it all and then acting like they can't see the smudges. Bummer- because I want to love this place, (both locations) but I can't. It's too bad to spend 40 bucks on a pedicure when I could have done it better at home. I recently paid $30 for an entirely sub par shellac manicure. Very rough removal of the old shellac and color on new shellac looks totally uneven in daylight.
