They were unsure which unit needed troubleshooting and did not bother to call for clarification. They went on site on Friday, and by Wednesday we still had no proper updates. They repeatedly told us they would submit a repair quote, only to finally admit--after 5 days--that they did not know what needed to be done because they were unsure which unit required service. This wasted 5 days of my time!When we asked to speak with the "owner," who was the one performing the assessment at the time, we were told, "You can't speak with him because he's busy working." We were also working and needed this issue handled promptly. If communication and follow-up cannot be provided because you are too busy "working," then that reflects very poorly on your business practices. The lack of accountability and honesty was extremely frustrating. :) And for future reference, the operator should never raise her voice at a customer. Professionalism and proper customer service should always be maintained. I was the one dealing with the issue and the unnecessary delay, so that response was completely inappropriate. I strongly recommend additional customer service training for her.

One of the power supply breakers to our unit was chattering and was hot. I called Compass and a technician was dispatched the next morning. He checked the situation and determined the breaker was failing due to age and not my HVAC unit..he obtained a new breaker and replaced the faulty one. The problem was solved better than new. I made George aware on the Tuesday before christmas it was ready, he said he would look into and get back to me. Since then, there has been zero communication or attempt to complete the job. Even after multiple phone calls and texts from myself and the warranty company. At this point we have to call another contractor to complete the work George was unwilling or unable to do.

We moved to Wears Valley in October 2020 and found that the HVAC system required service due to…read moredeferred maintenance and severe humidity in the crawl space. In other words the heat pump wasn't working properly. Tristar was sent by the home warranty company to resolve a covered issue. However there were many uncovered issues with the HVAC system and I called Tristar to return to address them. Tristar returned, inspected and diagnosed the entire system, and informed me of their findings. My options were to either attempt to repair a unit close to the end of its service life or replace it. We chose to replace it with a larger and more efficient unit. Tristar did this quickly and professionally. I inspected the old unit when they got it out of the crawl space and it was a wreck in obviously horrible condition. Obvious moisture damage. After the installation, George Williams (the owner) strongly recommended that I install a dehumidifier and told me in no uncertain terms that without one I'd shorten the service life of the new unit. So I asked him to quote me a price. I was surprised when he said he didn't sell them. He was just letting me know that I had to have one! So, I got one and installed it. He also told me that the zone system controlling the ductwork was in bad shape and may need to be replaced but to wait to see whether the dehumidifier would correct the problem. It didn't, but the crawl space dried out. The zone system continued to malfunction so I called Tristar again. They replaced the zone system electronic components. The ductwork itself was fine. After the work was completed George informed me that the water filter on my well pump was a mess and needed attention. I didn't even know it had a filter! George is just that way. If he sees something that needs attention he tells you. He's observant and conscientious. No extra charge. In my experience Tristar is a good company, run by a good man. I cannot recommend them more highly. The new system works very well and was worth the expense.

This year proved no different and we decided to give Tayfer a call as they do work on our church's units and we had heard positive reviews. They did confirm our unit was on its way out but would try to get it going for one more year. They had to charge it completely and were the first company to let us know that we could replace the AC unit without replacing the furnace as it still has live left in it. We have been cool every since and the AC unit is still working properly and they were extremely affordable for all the work they did charging it after trying to locate the source of the leak. When we go to replace it, we will be giving them a call.
