This location is a combination travel office and repair shop. They also sell travel related gizmos and gadgets. Compared to most repair shops this location is immaculate. The waiting room has TV, Wi-Fi and power outlets. The restrooms were better than most restaurants. The folks working the counter come across as friendly and helpful. I was not oversold on any repair option. They offered several times to drive me somewhere while I waited. As a AAA member I received a bunch of free inspections and labor based services without asking for them, They did them because it fit my situation. Otherwise the prices were very fair. Combining trusted AAA with a repair shop is an excellent business model. read more

We stopped here last week to pick up some maps for a road trip we're planning in the fall. I know, you can get directions on your GPS in the car or phone. But I like to have a physical map to get an overview picture of where we're going. And to see what you might pass along the way which may cause you to sidetrack and maybe see things you didn't even know you wanted to see. This is a small office that I think originally was just a AAA car repair office. It only has a few people working there. We went in and asked for maps. I'm not sure why the person at the reception desk couldn't have just gotten them for us. Instead we had you wait for one of rhe travel advisors. I'm sure that's their protocol but we really didn't need anything else. Anyhow, we left about 30 minutes later loaded with maps, tour books, and a few other brochures about the Finger Lakes that I picked up. Now time to get planning our trip. AAA offers a lot of services, and I've experienced most of them. There's room for improvement in most of these. Discounts - Probably the thing I love most about my AAA membership is that it offers so many discounts. I can save on a wide range of travel services - hotels, rental cars, discount tickets to attractions, and even movies at the Regal. I'm a platinum member at Marriott, and there are times I save more money on a room with my AAA card. You can also save on groceries, gas, and eyeglasses. Travel - I travel a lot, and usually I know where I'm going, how I'm getting there, and what I'll see. I like planning my own travel. It's usually cheaper & I like being in control. However, if you're planning a group your of any kind, it can be a lot to take on. Having a travel agent may be the way to go, and AAA has been very helpful in planning group cruises. That said, this branch is short on help & you may have to wait a while sometimes for your agent to get back to you. Towing - I have yet to live in a city where AAA can get you a row truck driver in under an hour. It's even worse late at night when tow truck drivers would rather sleep than get up & pull you out of a ditch. I don't think your insurance company is probably any better though. They all have to contract with someone, and I think that's a tow truck industry thing more than a AAA thing. Car repair - We have had A LOT of experience with their auto repair here. Well, my mom has. She's elderly & even though I told her I thought she was being ripped off, she kept going. Finally I made her take her car elsewhere, and she got a completely different story from another garage, paid a BUNCH less, and has not had to go back for the same problem ever. One and done. Passport photos - They are fast & cheap here. Way cheaper than Walgreens! Bottom line - as long as you're not getting your car repaired, I'd recommend AAA. read more

Stopped in for an oil change because I got a post card that had a $30.00 value .... I was NOT very Hadoop wit the service for a few reasons 1. They did nit out a sticker for when I should return on my car , I've been driving for 20+ yrs and never had a company forget that ! Even the little bootleg shops So now I have no clue when I should get another oil change 4 months from now MAYBE... 2. This was easily the worst experience I've ever had with a car repair shop! I brought my car in for an oil change and inspection. They called and said my car wouldn't pass inspection due to the bulbs over the license plate...ok no issue except it was $200 for them to do the lenses? I called a local Cadillac dealer and it was $100 so they were charging me $100 to install the lenses?? I bought the parts and took 2 minutes to install it would be harder to install wiper blades. They should be ashamed of themselves! *update spoke to service manager who said they were actually only charging $23 to install the lenses and the other charges were probably markup and I apparently got a better price...anyways I added a star to the review still disappointed they didn't complete the inspection while I was there as I had addressed the issue with the lenses. read more

Now, I am possibly a AAA fangirl. I've had a AAA card since I learned how to drive, back when I was 16, so I'm somewhat biased in general towards AAA. I've needed to get my car completely legal in NY State, and the last thing I needed was a state inspection. I figured, hey, these guys are close to my work and have decent hours, so why not? Making an appointment was really easy, you can do it through their website, and they'll show you the next available appointment, which was conveniently at 8:05AM. Check-in once I got there was a breeze, and they had a shuttle waiting for me to drop me off at work, since I specified in my reservation that I needed a ride. When they let me know my car was ready, they dispatched the shuttle back, and I was able to get checked out and back to work over my lunch break easily. Everyone there was friendly and nice. My only reason for docking a star is that their shuttle only runs until 4:30PM, even though they're open until 6. If I'd had to wait until after work, that would have been inconvenient for me. Otherwise, no complaints, and they also give you a coupon for a free Delta-Sonic wash with your purchase, which is a nice touch. read more

AAA member ************STAY AWAY********* We brought my daughters car here for service. Very dissatisfied with service manager and mechanics. There were several issues with the car: Front speed sensor is bad this is causing the anti slip light on dash, the wheel bearing were replaced less than 6 months ago, the mechanic told the service manager that we would need to replace the hub and sensor Wheel bearing and sensor I told them that the hub was replaced and to just replace the sensor, they said du to the conditions here in Buffalo the air gap may have changed and they didn't feel comfortable just changing the sensor, Now lets examine that statement the speed sensor is a proximity sensor and it detects metal the hub is made from solid steel and has notches all the way around the circumference, as the wheel rotates it detects the steel this indicated speed, this is in no way affected by mud, snow, surface rust, grease, or anything else, they wouldn't install a speed sensor without installing the hub of corse the hub and sensor is significantly more than a sensor and the mark it up by 300 plus percent. 2) they said the car would be done Friday, it wasn't they called to let us know 30 mins before closing on Friday. I spoke to the service manager Jason Marks, he informed me that it would be done by Saturday at Noon. I got a call from them at 12:40 PM Saturday and he told me that the mechanic didn't come in so the car wouldn't be done until Monday, I was very upset at this because he didn't even let me know until 40 minutes past the time it was to be completed. Very poor communication. 3) The bill the replace an oxygen sensor Part cost $39 which the charge $69 ok i get it with mark up no complaint there however the charged me 3.5 hours to repair the oxygen sensor for a total of 418.25 then the charged me and additional .7 hours additional $83.65 to replace the same oxygen sensor The total bill came to over $700 Oh and did I mention the car is worse off than when we took it there. Very dissatisfied with customer service, recommendations and quality of repair, these guys are you typical rip off car mechanics, I am surprised that AAA put their name on this shop. Customer Service is good, but something about this place doesn't sit right with me. I purposely ran the code on my vehicle prior to bringing it in (I've been a AAA member for several years but had never "taken advantage" of my membership). One code came up and only one code was stored in the system. When I brought it in, all of a sudden there were two codes 12 hours later. Odd. So I bring it in to get some work done. Nothing crazy. They had the car for 7 hours and couldn't finish a 3 hour job (maybe 4.5 with the "recommended work" they suggested). I picked it up the next day. The day after...another check engine light. I took it back in. A new code...that they claim was unrelated, yet the "recommended work" involved maintenance of the system which was now running a new code. Odd. So, maybe a freak accident. I got the work done. $1,300 later, after paying for diagnostics which the AAA membership states should be free to members, ANOTHER NEW CODE TODAY. This is the 3rd time my Check Engine light has been on in less than 5 days. I'll go back to my dealership. They get things done right the first time and on the same day. Every time. read more

I have been taking my vehicles here for a number of years and a few weeks ago I took my car in for an oil change and the staff recommended I get my front breaks and rotors replaced as they had about 10% life left and they gave me a quote. I went home and immediately booked an appointment to avoid any damage to my vehicle. I dropped my car off with the quote I had received a few weeks earlier as well as a coupon I had just received in the mail. About an hour after I left my car, someone called me from the Car Care Center and said that I had been misquoted and I would now be charged THREE TIMES MORE for the service. Been waiting for a response on my online complaint submission nothing in about a week - terrible experience- I tried calling but get dead ended on transfers to no one answering on the 800 line - Here is my experience at Clarence AAA car care, I setup an oil change for Thursday the 24th of January. My appointment was scheduled for 10:05a I arrived at 9:50am. I was told the appointment would take one hour. I presented a coupon that states that I would receive front wipers, I was told that my truck a 2015 is to new for the wipers and they don't have the ones to fit my truck- this makes no sense. However I went on with the appointment waited about an hour and 10 minutes for my oil change to see my car sitting in the parking lot. I ask the technician if my car is good to go, after checking out I went to my car to realize that my tires were not rotated. I know this because I have a rim on the front driver side that was damaged from hitting a curb. I checked this as soon as I got out of my car before the appointment to make sure they were rotated. When I went back into complain that the rotation was not completed the manager stated that these tires were newer and didn't need to be rotated. I explained to him that these are newer tires but I have had them for 1500 to 2000 miles and by the time I would have new oil change (Full synthetic) it would be close to 10000 miles on these tires, which as you well know they should be rotated every 6000 miles at the maximum. Then I looked at the receipt and it said that they had performed the rotation even though they did not. I also saw that the report stated the interior cab in front was vacuumed which is wasn't. The manager said he would rotate the tires himself. Then when I got the truck back he rotated them incorrectly, he rotated them from front to back instead of crisscrossing them to the back. Neither the rearward cross or x pattern was used. With all this that happened how do I even know a real oil change was done. As a AAA member for 19 years I would not return to this location for any car care whatsoever. I am extremely upset with AAA auto care at this time. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I ABSOLUTELY WOULD. I brought my car there because the Exhaust pipe snapped in two. I looked up the parts on line and KNEW I was looking at a $200-$300 repair. These JERKS thought I wouldn't know what I was talking about since I'm clearly not much of a car girl (also because I'm a woman I'm SURE) and tried to charge me $950!!!!!!! They told me the ENTIRE exhaust system needed to be replaced and that everything was broken except the converter (which is irreplaceable - also a BLATANT LIE) and the flex plate. I got MULTIPLE other opinions from other garages. If what they told me had been ACCURATE, i was still only looking at $550 worth of work (as an average). Took it to a new garage AND NONE OF WHAT THEY TOLD ME WAS WRONG WITH IT WAS WRONG. JUST THE EXHAUST PIPE!!!!! Grand total $280 for EXCELLENT repairs. This place is A SCAM. I will also be writing to AAA corporate because this garage is filled with LYING SACKS OF HUMAN GARBAGE. Not only were they liars but RUDE too!! My battery died in the parking lot of my employer after a long day on my 2011 Subaru but my son was able to jump start it so I could drive it home. The following day Friday 11/9/18 I didn't want to take any chances that the battery would fail me again so I called AAA Car Care Plus. Now I chose them based on my previous bad experiences with the Northtown Subaru Dealer and the good reviews for AAA. I phoned them in advance to come in the same day around two pm. This place just scammed me out of$1000. That's what it cost to fix an annoying squeak. Problem is, the repair (a very expensive brake job) did not fix the squeak. On return visit, they wouldn't fix the problem and advised me to get a new car. This is similar to last year, when they ripped me off $200 by misdiagnosing what was a leaking fuel line. I find aaa's service to be downright appalling. my 2003 subaru forester broke down on me with a flashing check engine light for two misfire codes meaning it should be immediately turned off and not driven. I relayed all of this to the guy who answered my phone call, but he failed to tell the driver that. When the driver called me, he told me he had already turned the vehicle on which could have caused serious engine damage. Compared to what they did to me next though, that was only a minor annoyance. They diagnosed it and told me it would require all sorts of work to run again. Their quote came to over $4100. I'm not exaggerating. That's literally their quote. Imagine holding that packet in hand when your amazing third party mechanic drives out to AAA after you give him the key and fixes it for the cost of a $108 ignition coil (AAA wanted $245 for the same part from the same parts dealer, by the way). That's it. $100. Aaa tried to scam me out of $4000. The next slap in the face was that I had paid them $100 to diagnose the "issue". I essentially paid them for their wonderful service in attempting to rip me off. I am currently looking into how I can report them to the corporate office. I feel ashamed to admit this but I very nearly fell for this scam. read more

I went over with (!)Light Low tire,could not tell which tire.Car was brought back,told me pressure were ok and if light stays on take to dealer to get reset.I set odometer,went to fair until 10:00pm and home,next day work.Come out at 3:30 driver rear was near flat.I luckily had air pump,put in 34 pounds air,co worker looked at tire and saw screw in tire,I drove 46 miles after AAA car Care missed and never looked for nail or screw in tire. Today no one wd talk to me on the phone and I had to go to the car center after a 3 hr wait for an inspection on my car. It still wasn't done. Today is the last time I come here. The Care Care Plus Center is hit or miss. I have a AAA top of the line extended service plan for my 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 and taking my truck to this facility is a zero deducible. Every time I have taken my truck to this facility they either get it right or they get it wrong. For example, I had a check engine light, which was for a camshaft positioning sensor. The facility had the truck all day. They claimed they could not get the O ring out of the water pump and stated that they had to pull the water pump out to get the O ring out and replace the camshaft postioning sensor. The extended warranty does not cover pulling the pump, so I paid for 2 hours at $99 an hour. There goes my $0 deducible. When the job was completed, the service writer stated that I owed over $400.00, because of all the time it took to try to get the O ring out of the water pump. I stated that I only authorized 2 hours, which the service writer, reluctantly said that AAA would eat. Two week later my check engine light came on again. So I took my truck to Advanced Auto, to have them read the code. The code was for the engine running lean. So I decided take my truck to a Chevrolet Dealership to have a second opinion on what was going on. The mechanic at the dealership found a vacuum hose that was not reconnected. This is just one of many instances I have had with this place. The work is sub-par at best and the quality of the workmanship is mediocre. The only positive thing I can say about AAA Car Care Center in Clarence is that Bob, the manager is a great individual and his attentiveness to customer care is impeccable. If it wasn't for him, I would have stopped going to this facility long ago. If you are deciding to use this facility, it is a crap shoot. So good luck. read more

Took a ten year old car in at 10:45 a.m. for NYS inspection. Appointment at 11 a.m. Was told it would take about an hour. An hour later I asked if it were finished. Instead, I learned that it hadn't even been done. I was a bit annoyed. About a half hour later, the manager came out, said it was finished, apologized for the mix-up, comped me the inspection and gave me a Delta Sonic car wash coupon. My annoyance disappeared. The CLIFF'S NOTES VERSION of AAA Car Care Plus is: avoid completely. Three entirely unsatisfactory experiences would deter even the most patient individual from servicing a car here. Had I written this review when the AAA Car Care Plus in CLARENCE first opened, I would have raved about it. I tried it out five years when I was looking for a new mechanic after questionable experiences with others, and decided to use a promotion it was running. Initially, I trusted this shop implicitly. Unfortunately, the two service managers (both named Dennis) who were not only experienced, competent, personable and trustworthy retired two or three years ago, and since that time it seems like a revolving door of service managers. Worse, they are constantly flustered in the fast-paced yet seemingly unorganized environment which does NOT instill me with confidence in their work. I suspect that the shop is a victim of its own success. The waiting area is extremely modern and clean and not a bad place at all to be. The shuttle service is efficient and pleasant. Unfortunately, these do not a good repair shop make . . . Except for exhaust system work and a transmission flush, I have serviced my car here on a regular basis almost exclusively for the past five years since I have owned it. After a tune up service with new spark plugs, wires, oil change, filter, etc, I picked up and shortly thereafter the check engine light lit on the dashboard, which surprised me because of the condition of the car, its lack of any problems during its ownership, and its regular maintenance according to the owner's manual. After not one but two return visits to address the issue, my car was fine. On the third visit for this issue, the shuttle driver talked very pleasantly on my way into the shop, and assured me that their best mechanic was doing the job this time. On my next visit, I had the oil changed on the three month / 3,000 interval I follow, and requested a tire rotation. After picking up the car, I drove about 15 miles before the car began shaking that rapidly increased in intensity. This is when you believe in God, because I decided not to take the thruway, but the local streets and was able to coast into a gas station where I promptly called, who else, AAA? After an hour waiting for the flatbed to arrive, the AAA technician asked me the symptoms and looked the car over, relieved that there was sufficient oil in the crankcase. He figured it was the wheels, but brought it back to the AAA shop. When the shop opens the next day, the service manager calls and asks me to explain what I experienced and that they would look it over. No call, so I call back in the early afternoon. If I understand it correctly, the technician did not clean the wheel properly in the initial tire rotation. Again, on the return shuttle ride in, the driver Paul talked pleasantly, and as we arrived was obviously trying to soothe me by explaining how he took the car out himself. The shuttle drivers should get additional pay as "Spin Doctors" or "Damage Control Experts", etc. Okay, and now the hat trick. Another "simple" oil change, filter, and some new wipers. The revolving door apparently spun again because there was someone else yet again behind the counter. The old routine of dropping the car off, and returning later to pick it up. I get a call from the service manager who says something about a leak, and they can only find it if they detail the engine to clear away the build up. I notice no puddles anywhere I park, but I no longer want to spend money on a car I was considering replacing soon anyways. I wanted to ask some questions of the guy, but he looked like he was going to have a heart attack because he was running around trying to manage the chaos of this business. He must have said five times "I'm sorry I kept you waiting." Uh, I don't mind waiting a short bit a long as the work is done on time and correctly. I refuse their suggestion and take it by another mechanic whom my aunt has used and trusted for several years. No smiling bullshit here. I had a good talk with him, and he took a cursory look at the car. He said that while there may be a minor leak, it didn't seem serious if nothing noticable is collecting on the pavement underneath. He suggested its possible that they just said that to cover themselves. He wasn't angling for my business and probably doesn't even need it, but he has it now anyways. read more

Last year my daughter in law took here car to AAA car repair in Williamsville for an inspection and was told she passed the inspection but needed over $600 in additional work on her car for an exhaust leak. She called me and asked what to do. I told here I always trusted them, after all it is AAA. She opted not to have it done then and got a second opinion from another reputable repair shop (Firestone) and had the repair done for a little over $100. Now my story...I also took my vehicle in for an inspection and had a rubbing noise from the front end and was told I passed but could use some additional work. In my case it was front brakes, rotors and wheel bearings on my Canyon pickup. This truck had 100 miles shy of 25,000 miles on it. Something seemed funny about the whole thing. Bad wheel bearings and it passes inspection? I refused the work and went home but being cautious, because I am planning a road trip to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park and will be towing a pop up trailer, I also went for a second opinion. Called the local dealer told them what happened and asked if they would double check the AAA diagnosis. Dealer diagnosis - brake pads, about have the life left, rotors, did have a ridge build up on the outer rim, but did not hinder the performance of the brakes, wheel bearings, could not find anything wrong, rubbing sound was the backing plate rubbing on rim, mechanic pulled it away to stop noise. This dealer diagnosis cost me $54, but was worth it for the peace of mind because of the trip I will be taking in August. The cost if I had given AAA to do the work that day would have been over $1,500+.. Now I'm sure I am not the only person that this has happened to. And I'm sure not every diagnosis they give is as bad as mine was, but I feel sorry for the elderly or trusting people who just take it for granted that they are not being misled. After all it is AAA, a trusted name for decades. I am a 30 year member of AAA WNY and have used them for inspections, roadside assistance, travel and discounts. Needless to say I am very, very disappointed in them and will not use their mechanical services again. Be wary of this shop. read more

On Monday, August 15, 2016, one of my vehicles would not start. We called AAA. The service vehicle arrived shortly. The diagnosis was that the battery had to be replaced. One of the battery terminals had a very large amount of "corrosion." The service person could not release the cable from one of the batteries terminals. He said that the vehicle would have to be taken to the shop. The vehicle was jump started and dropped off at the Clarence facility. After the work was completed, the courtesy van picked up my wife at our home. At that time, I departed in our other vehicle for Cleveland, Ohio. On Tuesday, August 16, 2016, I returned from Cleveland just before noon. On my relatively new driveway, I noted a number of very large rust colored stains. After my wife returned home, I asked if some other vehicle had been in the driveway. She said that was not the case. I concluded that the stains came from our vehicle and occurred in a period of about 24 hours. On Wednesday, August 17, 2016 I called the Clarence facility and requested they set up an appointment for me to talk with the manager. I was told that the manager was not in. I then briefed the individual of the situation. He said he would pass the information to the manager. To my surprise, the service vehicle arrived. There had been no contact made by the manager. The service vehicle was staffed by an individual, named Andy. This is the same person who responded to the call on Monday. After looking at the driveway stains, he asked to pop the hood. The terminal "pocket" had not been properly cleaned, one cable was not fully seated on the battery terminal, and there were numerous pieces of the "corrosion" scattered about the engine compartment. I told Andy that this was some shoddy workmanship. He agreed. Andy said he would go back to the shop and get some cleaners. He attempted to clean the driveway without any success. He then said I should take the car back to the shop and he would advise them that I was coming. When I arrived at the shop, no one knew why I was there. I was less than pleasant. Then the manager, Bob Francis, appeared. The car was placed in one of the service bays. He agreed that the job was not done properly. After the work was completed, I told Bob Francis that I wanted the driveway cleaned. He than started talking about Buffalo winters and how cars rusted. I told him this happened in a matter of 24 hours or less and had nothing to do with Buffalo winters. He then gave me a coupon for a car wash. I am not sure if this was a pacification attempt. In the past, I was always given a car wash coupon every time I had a vehicle in for servicing. Bob Francis said he had lived on Sagewood and would stop by to look at the stains. Well, fifteen days later and there has been no sign of Bob Francis. Promises made, promises not kept. Admit nothing, agree to nothing, do nothing, stall, and certainly do not do the right thing. AAA auto service rates a score of zero. I do not want any hollow apologies from those charged with the responsibility of protecting the AAA image. I want the stains removed from the driveway by someone who has the equipment and skills to do the job properly. read more

I made an appointment to have the following done: inspection, oil change, tire rotation, and replacement windshield blades. I was told the cost and confirmed the appointment which was to take between 1 1/2 and 2 hours. When I arrived for my appointment I was told that only the inspection was requested. I had to have that done but now I will have to make another appointment to have the rest of the work done. I don't understand how the woman who made the appointment could not have listed everything I needed done. She quoted the price and time required. read more
