Stopped by the AAA in Carmel to get my international driver's license, and the visit was a mixed bag. The associate helping me was kind and tried her best to keep everything moving. The real issue hit at the end when their printer stopped working, which dragged the process out way longer than it needed to be. For something that should've been quick, it turned into an unnecessary wait, and that definitely killed the efficiency for me. They do have their own restroom, which is convenient, but parking is pretty tight because of all the busy shops around the area. Getting in and out wasn't as simple as I expected. I got what I came for, but the overall experience didn't leave me wanting to return. It's fine if you're already nearby, but I personally won't be back after this visit. I've come by on 2 separate Saturdays to pick up maps. It states on the website and on the door the hours are until 1. I came a little before 12:30 both times and the doors were locked and the building was dark and no one was there. A little frustrating. What to improve .... It's #HomeServiceHeroDay and this place not only offers home insurance, but they've also rescued me when: A) I locked my keys in my car while on a camping trip in the middle of the woods. B) Our family car had a faulty piece and we were pulled over on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere on a family road trip. One of the little-known benefits of having a AAA membership is that you get access to their travel agents. I visited the Carmel AAA office for that very reason: to speak to a travel agent. Some people might think that travel agents aren't necessary in this technologically advanced age, but sometimes, it's nice to sit down and plan a trip with a real, live person who has experience and can offer you suggestions that you might not have considered. I visited on a weekday without an appointment because they don't take appointments to see their agents. You just walk in and hope there aren't too many people there who also need to speak to a travel agent. There was one agent available, and she was super busy: she was on the phone with one person, and talking to another person who sat in front of her. So I had to wait a little bit, but she was very helpful and friendly when my time came to consult with her. I had a few questions for her, and she was able to answer me and put my concerns at ease. She also brought up a few issues that I should consider when traveling to the specific place that I would be traveling to that I had never even thought about. She looked up some flights for me and was able to get me a few quotes, but I didn't end up booking with her. I ended up just booking my flight myself; if I would have booked with AAA, they charge a small fee. It is free to talk to an agent and get quotes, though. Walked in just moved from out of state. Nobody in the office besides employees. I have life car and renters insurance. I have been a member of AAA since 1998. Women was rude and did not want to help me. Said I needed to make appointment to speak with agent sitting in the booth. Very disappointed in customer service. So I am changing insurance companies. read more

On 5/21/20, I had my car picked up by a AAA tow truck to be transported to a shop to have a tire patched. Upon arriving at the shop, the driver, who was towing my car in the rear, bottomed out the front of my car knocking a large hole in my oil pan. I filed a complaint immediately Thursday night and was told a supervisor would be calling back ASAP. I called again Friday and was told the same lie. I called again Saturday, at this point, I was transferred from the service AAA line to my home club in Carmel, IN and was again told a supervisor was going to call as soon as he finished his lunch. Well it's now Sunday, 24 hours later. Either it was yet another lie or very long lunch breaks. This is my only car and have just started the job with no leave time. I was stuck in the snow outside a friend's house yesterday. The driver arrived in less than 20 minutes and was terrific. I've had AAA for years but this was my first time requiring roadside service. I have nothing but high praise. Thank you Carmel AAA! Amazing job. read more
