The big stone building is beautiful compared to other banks and it easily stands out from the other buildings, making it easy to spot. There is ample parking, though I found it a little hard to get in and out of this location -- it's on the corner of a busy highway, but the entrance isn't located at the intersection, so you have to wait for a miraculous break in the flow of traffic in order to turn in from Stony Batter Road.

The Website showed office hours until 2, so I reserved a car for that time. I hailed an Uber, and there were some logistical problems, so I tried several times to ring the office to inform them that I would be cutting it close, but could they hold the reservation. No one answered, so I let it ring through to national customer service, who informed me that they couldn't do anything, but I should just keep calling because maybe they were just really busy. I never did connect with the local office, though I arrived at 1:55 to find the gates were closed. William, my Uber driver who ensured I got there by 2, graciously drove around to see if there might be another entrance. [#HINT: This is proper customer experience.] We saw none. I paid him over $20 for an Uber to the location, and he waited for me to make one last phone call to the local office. Still no reply. There was no evidence of movement in the office area, and it didn't look like there had been anyone there for a while. I hailed another ride, and William and I headed back to the hotel, which during the return trip, I called Daniel national customer 'service', which is stretching the term 'service' quite liberally. After pulling up my reservation details, Danel astutely informed me that the local time was 2:01, so of course, they were closed. It didn't matter when I told him we spend the previous minutes trying to get in and not spend it calling the service desk. Daniel offered to make a reservation at another location, 'near' my hotel, but I declined. He apologised and said there was nothing he could do because I called after the location was closed, but he asked if there was anything else he could do to help. Knowing that I was already out $20-something bucks and was on my way to another $20-some odd for the return trip, and suggested he could reimburse me for that, given the inconvenience. No way. No how. I rented a car from @Enterprise. They even picked me up from my hotel. No @Uber necessary. Perhaps @Avis_Support could learn a lesson or two from Enterprise, if not some manners. Interestingly enough, whilst Avis' site lists Saturday hours ending at 2 PM, Yelp shows them closing at noon. Perhaps Yelp is on to something. If this is the case, then whoever is responsible for maintaining hours of operation needs to get with it.

The experience was simply appalling. The branch manager was nowhere to be found from 1pm to 2:30pm, leaving three customers waiting and one turned away (who returned to the office to change his rental car, unsuccessfully). She showed up at 2:30pm only after one of us was able to get hold of her through a National customer service representative (as funny as it sounds) around 1:45pm and told her on the phone there are three customers waiting in the office with reservations. When I asked why there was nobody working on a Thursday afternoon, the branch manager (Tremaine) started telling us about policy activities earlier during the day that caused the station to temporarily close -- But it was all cleared up around 1pm as we customers were able to enter the station (and all other rental companies were operating normally). Then she said she had to go to another location to contact customers by phone -- But none of us got any phone calls and I had to show her my call log to prove it. Then she started telling me my profile in the system must have the wrong phone number -- Honestly? In the end, she started making her own rules about who could get cars or not and claiming there is no car available for me, despite having an active reservation. She was unprofessional and rude, and showed no care for customers during the entire process. Eventually I had to book another reservation with Avis next door and continued my travel through Wilmington. I will continue to use Enterprise. But at this location, stay away!

These people did nothing but lie repeatedly for no other reason other than the sake of lying. They cursed me out repeatedly, I was threatend to have my vehicle stolen from me, and I was robbed $1685 dollars. This is only half of the horror story. The good news is that every event, email, and text message has been well-documented. Stay away from Lunch Box Garage unless you want to subject yourself to the abuse of these liars and thieves.
