I went to pep boys about a month ago to get 2 tires - they switched them out and now I've gone to get the other 2 tires replaced and I get a call saying that apparently one of my lug nuts is stripped and I now have to pay extra in labor fees ($80) to replace it. I don't see how I have to pay the extra labor cost for a mistake that they made a month prior. I used to go here all the time for tires and oil changes .... But now never again!! The wait is always way too long even if you schedule to get in, always running behind. They'll tell you your car is the next car up and then it's hours later before your car even goes in. Disorganized. I'm a very understanding person and it takes a lot for me to express when I am unhappy, but it's been a few times now I've gone in and been very disappointed in the quality and care my vehicle gets, especially since I've been a loyal customer over the years. Scheduled an express oil change. 3 hours later still waiting on my vehicle without an update. The receptionist/cashier was on their phone and AirPods the whole time and seemed to be more interested in their phone than providing an update on my vehicle. 2 hours into the service visit they finally provided an update about a new part they didn't have was needed but wouldn't confirm timeframe. There's a pre fee for everything that they have to look at before they bill you stupid and the only reason why people don't have the job done there is because they're prices are more than what you would play at the dealership. Had a very good experience - needed 4 tires and was willing to provide overnight to complete and they got it done early. Both employees at desk I dealt with were professional and courteous. Have had issues with other locations but this one I will use again. read more

After the terrible experience I had at 135 Christiana Rd #273 New Castle, DE location please read my review on them, so I said let me give the 4800 Kirkwood Hwy location and let me say I was impressed when I gave my keys. The service mgr. Bill he is first class, very personable and very knowledgeable and know what is going on in his shop and at the desk, 5mins after I gave my keys Odell took the keys and drove my truck in the bay and started working on my truck. What impressed me the most is when Odell left my truck Victor started mounting my tires, it was like tag team champions on my truck. My truck was done with tires and oil change within an hour GOLD STAR Gentlemen!!!! I give them a SUPER OFFICIAL!!!! rating. Keep it up guys, because you have my business AGAIN... I recently had a disturbing and frustrating visit at the 4800 Kirkwood highway store. I actually made a complaint to Pep Boys Corporate office and they made no attempt to contact myself. Basically, I went in for a two tire installation and arrived 15 minutes early and three hours later my car was finally done. While I was waiting, no one said a darn thing to me. Go get food, one mechanic, or we are extremely busy. Unprofessional and rude. Replaced my headlight but it turns out the issue was actually the wiring attached to the headlight. So I basically paid $40 to replace an already good headlight because they didn't do their job correctly. Only went because it was a holiday and my regular shop was closed. I'm really surprised to read all of the negative reviews. I've used this Pep Boys many times and have always been pleased with the service. Last week, my engine overheated. I called another shop (owned by a friend of a friend) and was told I'd have to wait three days for an appointment, so then I called Pep Boys and they were able to take me right away. The staff were really helpful. I also needed a new catalytic converter, and the representative (Carli) called several vendors to get me the best price, plus offered me a 15% coupon on my entire service. It's true that you may have to wait for help, since they seem to be understaffed in the front, but I see that as a minor inconvenience compared to the helpful service I received. read more

had an appointment on saturday 1/22 to install four tires bought though Amazon and shipped to Midway,they wouldn't honor the appointment,made no offer to reschedule or help out in anyway just sorry about your luck,called corporate customer service and was told the area director would be calling me that was 14 days ago and no phone call,corporate called for a follow up a couple days ago and still no call from the AD,then to make matters worst the repair order associated with the appointment was closed out and ran though the system and I got charged for the install,took three days of emails between Amazon and Pepboys to get my money back and I still can't get a return phone call,no wonder this company is a big sinking ship read more

I dropped my car off at 9am and was told an hour and a half to diagnose a check engine light. I decided to wait around for about half an hour and then I walked across the street to do some shopping. I returned an hour after originally dropping my car off and noticed it hadn't moved. The guy at the counter informed he had tried to call me, which he had not, and informed me that the diagnostics guy didn't come in that day so they couldn't fix the problem. I'll never return here so I don't know if it's an isolated incident but the entire operation seems badly run. I overheard them telling several people upwards of two hours for an oil change. I called ahead to make an appointment. The clerk said they had either 3 or 4 pm. I chose the earlier one. Upon arriving, I was told they wouldn't get to my car until 4:30 since one customer was getting new tires and another was having brake work. I told the clerk I'd made an appointment, he said, "Oh really? You should have said something! Who did you talk to?" Apparently they do not keep an appointment log or abide by it. Its almost 5 and my car is just coming off the lift. Order your tires online, schedule an appointment time that won't be honored, find out said tires are not available, wait 4 hours, and then find out you are no where near having the now available tires installed. So please go here to waste a good part of your day off while relaxing in uncomfortable seating, interacting with rude and disorganized service personal, and ultimately yelping for a better option and making an appointment with another garage to make your purchase elsewhere. I own a brand new car and took it in to pepboys for a routine oil change but when i got my car back the alternator is all of a sudden bad. They denied touching anything except for the oil change and yet they somehow new my air filter was bad. Not even a few hrs after leaving my car breaks down and they claim not to know what happened! There were able to accommodate me at the last minute with quick and professional service. The staff was helpful with diagnosis of bad brakes. In 2 hours time, they quickly satisfied all the issues in a timely manner. In addition they were able to provide me a discount with current specials for rebates! Great service and staff!
