I don't know about a certain location but I do know about their installation of car batteries. My dealer quoted me $620 for a new car battery. Wooo.They stated I would have to wait there for an hour and a half to complete. I called AAA they sent a truck out within 30 minutes. The truck had all kinds of batteries on it. The technician switched out my battery in 15 minutes gave me a warranty and charged me $207 out the door. What a fantastic savings! I also love that I didn't need to leave the house. read more

I had a flat in 124 degree sweltering heat in Overton Nevada on July 9. I contacted AAA Emergency Roadside Assistance multiple times on July9/10. AAA left me stranded despite being a loyal customer for 21 years. I've tried dealing with the insurance agent AND contacted the Emergency Roadside Assistance dept. , but they fail to want to follow up. I would highly recommend getting alternate insurance than AAA and skip getting Emergency Roadside Assistance since they were of NO value. I have been a AAA member on and off for years. I have only used their services once. Today, was my very first visit to a AAA Automobile Club Service Center. I am very impressed. Right when I stepped in I was greeted by the receptionist. She took my membership card and checked me in for the DMV. I sat down for less than 5 minutes before my full name (pronounced correctly) was called. The associate was extremely nice, sweet and efficient. I was able to go in, wait, and register my car in 15 minutes. Amazing!! No more DMV lines or wait for me. It must be a nice place to work because every employee was very upbeat and seemed to sincerely want to help the patrons. They only take cash and checks for DMV transactions. Me and my family have been with AAA since I have memory. On 2016 I was in a mild car accident that wasn't my fault, the guilt party was as well a member from AAA, my first though was that this was going to be an easy claim. I was very wrong, AAA behaved horrible rude and unprofessional handling my claim. I now come to understand that they where protecting themselves trying as hard as possible to spend the less amount of time, effort and money in my behalf. I had no one from AAA representing me or handling my claim in a way that was within my best interest, they where spending all their efforts protecting the guilty party as they where protecting themselves. A woman name Vea was handling my claim, she was not only rude but unprofessional and kept somehow losing my paperwork and emails, after dealing with her for a year I finally contacted her manager and I was very surprised to realized she was even worse than Vea. Dealing with a car accident is not only painful but stressful but dealing with AAA has been one of the most stressful situations I have had to deal with. It blows my mind and it is so hard to understand how can a well established popular company can tolerate having such rude and unprofessional employees. We had been with AAA for 45 years (cars, home, and life insurance) when we purchased a condo in Carlsbad as a second home, which they refused to insure because according to their underwriters, it was located in a high risk fire area. There has never been a fire in the neighborhood and the condos are surrounded by paved roads. We were forced to purchase insurance from Farmers. Then, after selling the condo and primary home in Redlands we purchased a new home in Carlsbad. A couple of months after we moved in we received a cancellation notice because the house is on a "mixed foundation". It is on a hillside with cinder blocks on one side of the house. Even though the house is a custom, well built house they refuse to insure it. The foundation is solid - the house isn't going anywhere! I stopped in to register my 2011 4Runner, and the associate accidentally entered in the wrong date (2017) and I was over charged. I was called by a manager a day later who told me I could receive my full $114 refund if I went to the DMV or I could pick up the $99 from AAA. (Since this is the max they allow) Since the main reason I have AAA is to avoid the DMV, I decided to go back to get my refund. When I arrived, a very kind associate, Amanda, apologized for the inconvenience. She was sincere and very empathetic. Unfortunately, the manager who was trying to resolve the issue was not as pleasant. She told me I could not get cash back and they would mail me a check, which is not what they said over the phone. Also- why on earth would I need to come all the way back if they were planning to mail the refund?! She was dismissive and passed me along to the manager of the branch. She had a terrible attitude but luckily, the branch manager was able to come over and alleviate my frustrations. All and all- I wasted at least an hour of my time, was over charged $114, have to wait for my refund and the only silver lining was Amanda's genuine concern for her customer. They do such great work and always are super helpful when I need things or have any questions that I may present to them, but the one thing that kills me every single time I go, and sometimes really hate coming here is the main lady at the greeters desk in the main lobby. AAA deserve some of this praise for their part in the following review of Wind N Sea Towing. Sorry I didn't get the drivers name and forgot the AAA dispatchers name. This is why you need AAA. I tried digging my sons car out of the bushes after it rolled down the driveway and into the weeds. I jacked it up and stuck planks under the wheels. We tried pushing it while accelerating. I tried yelling at it. I tried asking it nicely. I pleaded with it's sense of fairness. I then, threatened it with a bath. I jumped up and down then rolled on the dirt in a temper tantrum. I got cactus thorns in my hands, knees and chest. I gave up and walked away. Then I called triple A. We'll send an independent contractor, "Wind N Sea Towing" out within 15 minutes. That's what they told me. With that, I showered, changed clothes, sat down with a drink and waited. Didn't wait long. Sure enough, there's a tow truck arriving to save the day. Driver backs his truck up and carefully attaches the cable to a spot that wouldn't damage the plastic front end that cars are equipped with these days. Few minutes later the car is back on pavement and ready to drive. Thank you Wind N Sea Towing. A tip for everyone: don't run your engine while sitting over heavy brush. We smelled burning brush from under the car and the hose would not reach. We couldn't even see underneath the car. Me thinks we nearly burned the car and possibly nearby house to the ground. I usually do it online, but between changing the address and it was due, eh, whatever. So I thought I was just going to drop off the check - I didn't need the tags until the end of the month anyways. And I'm feeling pissy because why do I have to wait just to drop off a check? Everyone is really nice in here (except the reception desk, which is funny because they are the first point of contact, and really should be courteous to all). Every time I have ever come in, it was the reception desk that was short and unfriendly. I would give 5 stars otherwise. This is a huge facility where people are resistant, move slooooooooooooowly, don't manage incoming customers efficiently, and seem generally apathetic. The travel section, while I've used it twice, is less than desirable. I basically had to do all of the leg work and they booked the cruises. I could have done that online myself. I didn't find any extra value to their service. In fact, when I tried to book cruise three, I never heard back. And...I was booking 4-5 staterooms with each trip. I would think they would love their regular returning customers. I guess not. Zero stars for the travel section. It's worth the drive for DMV services. Being a AAA office, this place is clean, the receptionist and others who work in the other parts of office seem nice. However, the clerks at the "Auto Services" (DMV, etc.) desk are witches! I have visited their desk a number of times. One of the women who works behind the desk is sweet and efficient. The others, however, seem to derive pleasure in telling people bad news; i.e. "No, you cannot upgrade to a better Roadside Service Package, because you have been towed once in the past 2 years." (with an evil smile on her face). She was curt and acted like I was wasting her time, too. Another clerk at a different time told me I was stupid for not driving with insurance (I had gone in there to see if the DMV had updated my fix-it ticket). Really? Maybe you should keep your misanthropic comments to yourself; it'd be a lot more professional. AAA is still a reputable and dependable company with usual friendly, effective employees. My husband* and I came here to combine our insurance plans on a Saturday morning. We were greeted at the front reception, and then sent upstairs for insurance needs. There was one person working the reception at insurance, and although there were several others working in cubicles, no one came to see what we needed. We sat about 10 minutes while the "receptionist" helped other people, and finally asked what we needed.....then we sat and waited for an insurance specialist (said people in the cubes) for about another 5 minutes. So once we finally sat down with our insurance specialist - It was a total breeze. Elizabeth figured out what we needed to do (add me to him? him to you? whatever.) and handled it. She sent us an email confirmation a day or two after, as she was having technical problems while we are there in person. She saved us a crap ton of dollar bills, and we are grateful for that. Bought another used Mercedes...from local private seller. Decided to give AAA Encinitas one more try to redeem themselves (I REALLY do prefer to post positive experiences!). I've only been an AAA member since 1980 ... So yesterday I arrive at AAA Encinitas just after opening, greeter takes my info and I sit to be called. I'm the only 'member' waiting to be called by no less than 4 DMV clerks - who ignore my presence and are chatting about the weekend. Then, three more members appear and all three are waited on before me .... wtf .... when I'm the only remaining elephant in the room I finally get called, but only to be treated rudely and be continuously talked-over as I attempt to explain why I'm there and to correct the clerks erroneous assumptions. The clerk self professes to know far more than the DMV, refuses my intent to pay CA taxes and registration fees (as I'm waiting on the title to be overnighted from MBZ Financial) and REPEATEDLY insists CA allows a full 30 days to register a purchased used vehicle. WRONG AND BAD ADVICE! If a member follows the clerks advice, penalty fees will be incurred!!! So she literally sends me off with Mis -information with not one thing accomplished. Her pompous self righteous attitude is overshadowed only by the generally poor morale of this location of AAA. I called for roadside assistance as I am a member of Auto Club. I am in North County San Diego. I asked for someone to come out and help me as my car was making a loud sound when I attempted to go to the store. I was afraid to drive it and wanted them to come out and give me advice to see if it would be ok to drive it to the repair shop. I have been a member for 27 years and really never used it. When I called it took four tries, as they kept hanging up on me and I got about 5 text messages each time I tried to call. I am 70 years old and last time I called AAA it was so different. I am not very good with technology, I just wanted to talk to someone to get help. When someone finally did answer she seemed like she did not know how to help me, she kept putting me on hold over and over. I asked her to please send someone to help me and after many, many times being put on hold, and she sounded like she was completely confused, she said "we can only tow". It would have been less expensive for them to send someone to just help me and give me advice and they may not have to tow. She would not help me! I cannot believe how bad AAA is now, terrible service. I am cancelling my account. read more

Their rates are very competitive, but that's about all I have to say that's positive. Every time I go in to make changes to my policy (change my name because I got married, add my husband to my existing policy...you know, normal things an insurance company should be prepared to deal with), they either mess it up or don't make the changes. I have to go in at least twice - once to make the change, and second to fix what they were supposed to do. Getting help from AAA has been quite challenging and frustrating. We have ended up doing a lot on our own the last few weeks, including the hotel because the third rep took a mini vacation (her words not mine) without ever letting me know she was going to be gone for a while or providing a back up for us. She still has not replied to my email from this week asking for help. Originally there was a travel agent that was out of the office when we reached out to her and that never got moving. Then I found another rep, and he was good but then left with no notice (I didn't even know paternal leave was coming), and then I tried to work with Linda and she was basically non responsive several times with no follow up or out of office. Then I contacted the office and they told me if I wanted their help it would cost me $75. Of course I declined because this is absurd. For the last few months of trying to get help, no one once brought that up. This has been a horrible experience and if I didn't already just pay my car insurance, renters and earthquake insurance in full - I would be looking at doing business somewhere else altogether - which I will definitely be doing next year. This place is actually slower than the DMV. Bet you didn't think that was possible! Well, it is. The lines stretch around the room, yet they only have one person registering cars and one person "helping." Everyone who works here moves and speaks in slow motion. It's absolutely maddening. I've now waited in line to register my car four times, and each time I get to the front, the casually (and slowly) tell me I'm missing one document, and they simply can't do anything today.
