Do not use their driving lessons. Numerous things they taught me caused me to fail my driving test. They specifically instruct that 2-3 miles over or under the speed limit is legal and won't cause an error on the test, which is incorrect. They instruct that you don't need to signal when coming out of a roundabout, which is incorrect. The instructors are careless and skim over the details which causes failure on the driving test. The system of 6, 1 hour lessons, is unnecessary and time consuming. Look somewhere else for your driving lessons, because these instructors spread misinformation. read more

They'll invade your privacy in order to jack up the monthly rate of your auto insurance! I never bother to do the verified odometer reading each year when it's time to renew my policy since the amount I drive can change from year to year. This year it's gone up due to working two jobs now in order to keep up with the skyrocketing cost of living. Especially since my partner also lost his, I'm having to pay for everything! I got a letter from them saying they use public government records such as smog checks from the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) to verify the accuracy of odometer readings. It was only because of some California law called Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act that required them to send me a notice saying they used those records to find out the amount of miles on my car and used that information to increase the annual mileage rating on this year's auto policy renewal. As a result, the minimum monthly amount I have to pay has increased. WELL EXCUSE ME FOR HAVING TO WORK TWO JOBS NOW IN ORDER TO PAY ALL THE BILLS!!! NOW THIS ONE HAS GONE UP EVEN MORE LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE HAS! IT'S INSULTING AND FEELS LIKE A SLAP IN THE FACE! read more

I had a great experience here. I needed to get a copy of my car registration and came here right when they opened on a Thursday. No line, just walked right up and checked in. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. DMV fees are to be paid with cash or check only, so that was the only issue I had. I had to leave to get cash because I usually don't carry my checkbook or cash. $20 later, I was on my way. I recommend getting there early. People are most chipper in the mornings and tend to get snippy as the day drags on, especially if they have to deal with irate customers. read more

Came specifically to get my passport photos done. Yup they do passport photos! $8 for members and $12 for non-members. I came on a Saturday morning and there were already a lot of people waiting for various things. When I checked in I was able to change my name to my married name. My new card will be mailed to me within a couple weeks. I asked the front office person how long the wait is for my passport photo and she said that it wasn't too long since someone else just had their passport done as well. Turns out that most people are there for DMV and for travel. I waited about 15 mins before I was called back. The gentleman asked me to take a seat in front of the camera. He took a few pics and it turned out that he was a new employee and needed assistance. The lady in the next cube assisted and took a few photos of me. She mentioned that the passport agency don't accept photos with big smiles. Ummm OK... Oh well, I still smiled. read more

Made an online appointment with travel agent by the name Monica ? I've use the service before and the travel agent followed up with an email to confirm the appointment and then a phone call the morning of. This agent herself never called or confirmed or emailed me. problem number one - I called the office the morning of the appointment to confirm. Secondly , I arrive and She disclosed to me that she is unable to do anything. Her system is down. I excuse myself to make a phone call returned, and she printed me flight and hotel for one place. I asked her about the excursion. She said that they are unable to provide that and I told her I had been there in the past and another travel agent had provided me with everything different hotels different flight times excursions for the location I was attending and she said that that's false they do not provide any of that, and that that travel agent was in the wrong. I immediately said she wasted my day and time I took off of work. I left that location. I called another location in Escondido and they confirmed that they do. set me an appointment and everything was set from there with excursions ,flight, hotels, pick up and drop off at airport everything that this person said they do not do. I would not recommend using her or this location for the fact that she is very inexperienced in traveling, or assisting people with travel plans read more

Me and my family have been with AAA since I have memory. On 2016 I was in a mild car accident that wasn't my fault, the guilt party was as well a member from AAA, my first though was that this was going to be an easy claim. I was very wrong, AAA behaved horrible rude and unprofessional handling my claim. I now come to understand that they where protecting themselves trying as hard as possible to spend the less amount of time, effort and money in my behalf. I had no one from AAA representing me or handling my claim in a way that was within my best interest, they where spending all their efforts protecting the guilty party as they where protecting themselves. A woman name Vea was handling my claim, she was not only rude but unprofessional and kept somehow losing my paperwork and emails, after dealing with her for a year I finally contacted her manager and I was very surprised to realized she was even worse than Vea. Dealing with a car accident is not only painful but stressful but dealing with AAA has been one of the most stressful situations I have had to deal with. It blows my mind and it is so hard to understand how can a well established popular company can tolerate having such rude and unprofessional employees. I wouldn't recommend anyone to be a part of this selfish company, I really hope there is someone within AAA that cares about their costumers and will change their working team for the better or improve their costumer service. read more

So I just became a member of AAA. I signed up so I could avoid going to the dmv. I found an ad on the tv (yes some people still watch tv,lol) and got an amazing deal. I was all signed up for a whole year of service for $46.50. Let me tell you something, it was worth every single penny!! I was in and out of here in about 5 min, completing a transfer of ownership and paying a new year of registration. It's was so easy and fast!! I would have waited a good 4 hours or more at the dmv. Even if I don't use this membership for anything my else it was worth my time in and out. I can't wait to use their other services and or get deals for travel or local businesses. read more

I've been to this location many times now and always get Colleen. She is the best! She always goes above and beyond to help in any way she can. Even if it's something kinda difficult to deal with or requires extra help, she never complains and finds the answer with ease. I was in an accident with a AAA insured driver, That was not my fault I was rear ended at a light. To make a long story short I have tried to deal direct With AAA hoping they would just have my car repaired and done without the need of me going to a lawyer or my insurance company this saving them money! Just take responsibility and fix my car is all I ask. But unfortunately I have had the same issues as other reviews they are extremely rude (Katlyn) and very unhelpful they just want me to go through my resources witch unfortunately is going to cost them more money now. I've had AAA membership and insurance coverage for over 50 years and have had some bad experiences along the way, but this is my first Yelp review. My recent visit to the San Marcos office ranks right up there with the worst. Came in to renew a vehicle license during the ongoing COVID situation and thought I'd ask a simple question about my coverage while I was there. The encounter with the assigned insurance agent quickly turned into a nitpick session on my face mask, despite the large plexiglass barrier between us. When it became apparent that she couldn't focus on my question and was fixated on my mask, I politely told her this obviously wasn't working and I got up and left. I was nonplussed, given that I've been wearing this type of compliant mask for 9 months and have never had an issue or confrontation with anyone, including visits to doctors, medical labs and physical therapy facilities. I understand that some people are overly paranoid about contracting the virus, however my suggestion to ACSC management is that such individuals either stay home or be assigned to a position that doesn't require face to face interaction with customers. Maybe a little training in using good judgement, tactfulness and respect in situations like this. There are businesses all over town that know how to operate safely and effectively without going overboard and driving their customers away. ACSC can choose to conduct their business however they wish. Fortunately, I always have choices and options as well. read more

I am so disappointed with AAA. I have been a member for years however I think that is about to end. Not long ago I had to call them because my car indicated that I had a flat tire. The man came out and supposedly filled all four of my tires. The next day the flat tire light was still on. I took it to my local discount tire store and have them check the pressure in my tires. Instead of having 35 pounds in each tire I had 23 pounds in each tire. The driver was insistent that I needed new tires, which I didn't and recommended a couple of places to buy new tires. Today my daughter called because she needed a jump and the person did not speak English and it took an extremely long time for them to arrive. Apparently they didn't know the area so sat and waited for somebody to get backwithout telling my daughter what the problem was. She was late picking my granddaughter up from school! read more

We have been longtime customers of AAA and have our homeowners and auto insurance through them, however, we will be canceling asap after dealing with them for the last few weeks. My husband was hit on the freeway, suffered a concussion, and his car totaled. The other party had AAA insurance as well, and AAA has been a complete nightmare to deal with! Over the last few weeks, we have dealt with numerous adjusters and not one of them returns phone calls, the total loss adjuster (David Nelson - Gardena) didn't even call us and after a week and a half, I finally had to call his office and demand they put him on the phone only to have him offer us a ridiculously low-ball settlement amount for our totaled car, and the final straw today was when the other adjuster (Jonathan Lopez - Long Beach) told me he was only going to pay for our rental car until the day we receive the settlement check even though two other adjusters told us we would have 3 days after receiving the check to purchase a new car. In the end, after calls and complaints to his supervisor, his supervisor advised him to pay for our rental in full, but I am done dealing with them at this point. The accident was not my husband's fault, and our insurance agent should be fighting for us, yet I am the one having to call supervisors and fight for what is right. Isn't that what I am paying AAA my insurance premium for? We have had other insurance companies in the past and never have we had such poor service! Additionally, I went to AAA San Marcos yesterday to register our new car and waited an hour and a half to be helped. After an hour and a half, when I was next in line, I was told that AAA's computer system went down and I would have to come back the next day. As irritated as I already was, I went back today, and I again had to wait almost an hour before I was helped, even though I explained that I already waited an hour and a half yesterday and they even had my name on their list still so they could see I was supposed to be next in line. Once they finally took care of my registration, I had a question about my previous registration and the guy helping me said he didn't know the answer and told me I could wait (again) to see an insurance agent to answer my question. At that point, I told him I was done with AAA and I would not be waiting any longer for anybody there or their poor service, and the next time around, I would rather make an appointment and go straight to the DMV, and that's saying a lot! read more

WAS a long time customer. I was recently offered condo insurance in writing that sounded good. I called to accept and pay and the agent said he the offer wasn't valid because he didn't do his job before making me the offer. I told him that it was his/AAA's fault and they should honor their offer since I had since cancelled my policy with anither company to switch to his offer. He said no, it's just an offer and they don't need to honor it. We are not bound to anything we offer you until you pay. I asked for a manager and was transferred to a voicemail. I left a message, but never received a call back. I called back a few days later and was told all of the managers were partying in Mexico and were unavailable until next week. I said there is not one manager available? He said no. The manager never called me back. I have since cancelled all of my insurance accounts with AAA. I dont like incompetent companies with poor management and horrible customer service. read more

Of all the AAA Automobile Club offices that I have visited across the country (over the past 25 years) the San Marcos location is really, truly, absolutely, positively, most indubitably the #1 office that I have been served by. First impressions are lastings impressions - right? So, normally when you first walk in.....you are greeted by a Ms. Ana Acuna who collects your card, checks you in and points you in the right direction. In doing so, she greets everyone like they are a valued member of her actual blood family instead of just another customer/number like how so many other companies greet you. Because I mostly go there 3-4 times a year to conduct DMV registration paperwork, Ms. Ana normally routes me to a Ms. Colleen Reagan who represents DMV. I can always count on Ms. Colleen to pick up where Ms. Ana leaves off in terms of the level of personable and family like customer service. (Kinda like when Philip Rivers used to hand the ball off to LaDainian Tomlinson of the old school Chargers). Of the 4 years that I have used this location, there has never-ever been a question that I have presented to Ms. Reagan that she did not have an immediate and accurate answer to. On occasion, I have also used the travel department of this AAA office and found Ms. April as positive, knowledgable, personable and professional as Ms. Ana and Ms. Colleen. In fact, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that most members who walk in can quickly pick up on the overall positive vibe that this AAA location functions under. For me, this location and the "5-Star" service they consistently provide is alone.......worth the cost of admission. read more

I'm dropping them down to 3 starts after finding out that they no longer waive the deductible on windshield cracks. It seems that they would rather wait for my windhield crack to grow until they will have to replace my windshield than to take the preventive measure of sealing the crack while it is still small. This is the second strike against them for me and I'm now in the process of investigating the benefits of switching to a competitor. read more
