My mother is not on Yelp so I feel the need to write a review on her behalf. Our family traveled to Spain last summer and before our trip she went in to AAA to see if they had any info and insights for us. My mom said the receptionist was not friendly and travel agent who helped her said they really didn't have anything except some maps.... In Barcelona (our third and final stop in Spain) we befriended a mother-daughter duo who gifted us their AAA book for Barcelona. A AAA book JUST for Barcelona (but that lady in Mountain View said no such thing existed...)... The best restaurant we ate at in Barcelona ended up being out of this book. Came in here to utilize their DMV service to renew my car registration so that I could obtain a sticker right then and there earlier this morning before the lunch rush began. The employee began to process my transaction and informed me that they only take cash or checks for payments. Who in their right mind uses checks these days except for mortgage/rent payments, and transactions between businesses? This is ridiculous! They should have put a note on their web site to warn customers that they only take cash and checks for payments. So I returned to work and renewed my registration online and placed the confirmation print out in my car till the sticker and registration arrive in the mail. read more

There's something really cool about being able to go into a place, show them a card, and have them hand you a whole pile of things for free. It's like being in a secret society! Except without the paddles. I dropped in today to get some maps for an upcoming road trip. I tried using the call center 800 number and thought everything was going great but apparently not. The call center didn't properly cancel an older policy and couldn't refund my money and didn't even know where my money was. Frustrated, I went to the AAA office and instantly and thoroughly everything was quickly and efficiently resolved. I was even able to get my costs reduced and increase my coverage. I can register our cars anytime during business hours (M-F 8:30-5:30 and Saturday 10:00-2:00), sometimes with no wait, (go before or after lunch hour), PLUS great AAA service people helping you vs. disgruntled civil servants. This review is about AAA branded auto batteries that AAA towing service sells to customers when they request road service for jump starting their car. Although the road service response is excellent and prompt, the quality of the batteries that they sell is very low. These batteries are very pricey and of low quality. Although they give 3 years warranty, the batteries will not live more than a little over 3 years. So your warranty might be most likey over. Normally most of the leading brands of batteries work fine for over 6 to 7 years and they are cheaper than AAA batteries. So next time when your battery fails and if you call AAA, the towing guy will try to sell AAA batteries. But never ever buy those low quality batteries. Instead ask for just jump starting your car and drive up to near by Sears, Walmart or Costco and buy better battery from there. Their batteries are of far better qulaity and chaeper price. This advise is based on my experience in using batteries from AAA, Sears and Costco during last 10 years on many cars. read more

I called the agency to transfer my policy from MI to CA. To my surprise, the quote I received was much higher than MI, which is a no fault state and the most expensive policy in the country. When I asked for the reason, the representative, Francis, responded by saying "I'm sure people in MI don't drive Teslas and we do here in California!" and she hung up the phone! Jeffrey Alapar is awesome as my insurance agent. He helped me cancel GEICO, which is much more expensive - by the way - and he also was generally helpful and always willing to answer my questions. I also love my yearly AAA membership and they have always come to my rescue when needed. The reps who work here are always kind and knowledgeable. Just a shame they only have 2 people working the side desk to help with payments, registration, etc. This is that we always need to physically come in for, and it is always a wait. Lots of employees working around the building, but only 2 max working customer service. Again, they are always lovely and super helpful, but it does them a disservice to not have another employee or two step in when needed. Often one of the people working behind the desk has to leave to do an inspection. Just frustrating. Great services. This is the 3rd time I have gone in this location and received rude, bad attitude service. I went in to book a vacation. The helper "Jasmin" (dark headed) absolutely was not interested in helping. I became unsure if they even did this sort of thing, but I recall seeing an ad that they did and someone else in the place said they did. I had hoped to at least get some ideas about planning even if they didn't do this. They don't want to help. I am giving this 2 star because she did alert me to the complete abysmal ignorance concerning service dogs that should NOT exist in this industry. It should be a #1 training point before being hired. So, this made me realize that there are lots of Jasmines out there who don't want to do their job and don't know what they are doing are generally ticked off with the world...and I better prepare for that. She is who I am trying to avoid on this trip and why I want to plan now. So, thanks for pointing out that the training in this field is really poor. I decide not to waste my time with AAA services and go with American Express and other providers. Everyone I asked after I left while out shopping said that I should use online services. I don't even mind paying for good help with this. It seems that the "in person" services just don't exist anymore. I am not sure we are going to renew our services with AAA. I waited at the Santa Clark DMV for 20 minutes past my appointment time the day before. I got frustrated and left. The next day my wife reminded me that we have AAA. Do not go there if you are colored. It's mostly for white people. Of course it's closer to Los Altos and "Beverly Hills" area. You know America is not officially language of English. It's mix of many different languages. I wanted to speak with a Spanish agent, one white woman said "No you can't." Forced me to speak with English people. I do understand English complete but that day I feel like I want to speak Spanish. It's my right! But I went ahead speak with a "English" agent. I don't think if I'm planning to return to this office in the near future. People, you have the right to speak any languages. Maybe I have to go to the poorer and ghetto town. If I could give this location a negative star I would. I called the office number hoping I could save sometime to get my vehicle registration and skipping the line at DMV. I called about 11:00am and was instructed to leave my name and phone number and someone will call me back. 5 hours later still no call. Shameless plug: If you are searching for auto insurance, I really recommend AAA. They have absolutely the best service I have ever experienced. Whether you are stuck on the road, want some good discounts on admission tickets, or need in-person advice, they really do have your back. And fortunately, they have LOTS of brick and mortar locations all-around. But, if you are located in the South Bay Area, I DON'T recommend visiting the AAA in Mountain View unless you have to. And it's not even because there's anything wrong with the quality of the service here. It's because of the location. Recently, I needed to pay a visit to a AAA to pick up a map of Tahoe for an upcoming trip (Yep, members get free maps!). The closest location to me was the AAA in Mountain View. This spot is on Miramonte Ave, right next to El Camino Real. Usually, you'd think that such a location is very accessible, especially because it's nearby one of the most traveled streets in the Silicon Valley. But NOPE, as of August 2017, they've been doing a lot of construction around the AAA. And so parking is VERY restricted. Plus, the AAA shares the same building as a medical office, which means that MANY customers will be using the same lot as AAA's for visits. Hence, chance of getting a parking spot (in an already small lot) is pretty close to zero. When I came, I was forced to find parking on the street and walk over. Sure, exercise is a plus, but if you are a reputable business that serves many people, you need a better parking lot/location. Luckily, the service inside this AAA was great (as usual)! I recommend coming a bit earlier in the day, or not during rush hour, because this place does get crowded; if you need to file paperwork, get tickets, or anything regarding $$$, you will have to wait in a longer line. Otherwise, if you just have a quick question or need maps, there's a quicker station right in the front! I was able to get in and out in less than 10 minutes! The person helping me was also very speedy as well. Overall, I give this AAA in Mountain View a "tolerable, sufficient for sustenance" rating. I don't like the location of the place, but the service here was great. If you must, come here. Otherwise, there should be AAA locations elsewhere that give you a much, much easier time with parking. Kudos for Curtis Sloan at the DMV desk at the Mountain View CSAA office. He went out of his way to help me solve what I perceived as a huge problem, which was caused by another employee at this same office. He was patient, and when he couldn't solve the problem immediately, because of the time of day, he photocopied my paperwork, took my cell number and said that he would contact DMV and get back to me in the next day. He called me at 10:00 AM the next day and told me what needed to be done to straighten out the mess. He was GREAT! I wish all my customer service experiences were like this one. read more
