I spoke with someone a few months ago about a quote and today I called again to see if I can discuss it again. The guy was on his day off but he picked up the phone anyway to tell me he's busy packing to go on vacation for the next 11 days and he can call me in two hours. I told him I won't be available in two hours so he told me to call the 800 number. His tone was dismissive and he couldn't wait to get off the phone. The WHY did you pick it up in the first place if you're on vacation. Worst service ever! read more

Took a fully signed title to the Mountain View office to start the transfer process. They took the title and handed me a sheet stating the vehicle had to pass smog prior to being registered. They kept the title. An updated title was never sent to me. My thought was this was pending completed registration. I returned at a later date to move the vehicle to PNO while I worked out the smog issues. The person working the desk stated they couldn't do anything without the title... Which they took. Never looked at their computer, never checked on history of the vehicle just proceeded to loudly and argumentatively state they would not have taken the title. Though they did exactly the same to the person in front of me in line. Now I have moved to just donating the car due to the hassle of this process. The donation company cannot accept the vehicle without signed document (title) showing sign-offs of previous owners. Called AAA and was told there was nothing they could do. Went to the DMV and was told the signed title was not in their possession, suggesting it never moved from the MtV AAA DMV hub to the DMV. So they basically lost my title and are telling me they can do nothing. Horrible experience. read more

WOW! The amount of rudeness is NOT WORTH IT at this location. I live on the same street as this AAA, and thought life couldn't get more convenient. I came in after buying a car and reading about how great the DMV services are here. Like a previous reviewer noted, they will not respond to messages you leave on their phone line, and they will NEVER answer their phone - so stopping by is your only option. As the buyer of a car, we had a folder of paperwork. The lady behind the desk grabbed it from me and told me I did it "all wrong". I told her these are copies, and the seller went to her AAA who handled it. The lady then proceeded to tell us three or four times that she "isn't the one that handled it wrong". I was like, ok - I know you didn't do this, but can you help and tell me what I need to do to fix this? She then starts telling me the papers are copies, and how she can tell these are copies because of the ink. To which I reply, "Yes, these are copies, I'm not claiming they're originals at all". She was so rude that at one point I couldn't take it anymore. I finally said to my friend, "I can't believe I am a paying member of this organization, and I pay for this service. How are the Yelp reviews good here?!!". Yes, I brought Yelp into it. Then, she magically became much nicer, but just as unhelpful. She told me that what I needed to do was take a day off work and drive to the seller's location (hours away) and go to AAA with her where we could jointly solve the issue. Here's the best part...the next day (today) I woke early, waited in line at the Santa Clara DMV, and got ALL the answers I needed and then some...car is registered, title transferred. The lady there was SO pleasant and happy to help. Here is my major qualm with AAA: They make their money because people really don't use what they pay for with their membership. Hell, if annual tows rolled over to the next year, I could probably tow my car to work half the time. I've even thought about having AAA tow my car home so I don't have to pay for airport parking while I'm travelling. It's THAT useless to me and most of us. The AAA hotel discount doesn't even come close to any internet price. Point being - if I am going to use your service once every three years, but pay every year, it had better be some damn good service. read more

If you think your insurance is sufficient, have Olga look at it. You may learn that you don't have the coverage you thought you did. Her prices were less and the coverage was better. DMV shockingly tried to rip me off - charging me almost double my registration with an alleged late penalty. I never got my first notice and it being shelter-in-place I haven't been driving or thinking about my car. I was about to pay and then *ATTEMPT* to get a refund for the penalty through the DMV bureaucracy when my wife reminded me that we could pay at AAA. I went, dealt with a short line (everyone properly socially distancing), and got up to Vanessa Mejia. She was AWESOME. First, she wiped down everything before the next customer got up. Someone said, wow you have to do that for each customer? She cheerily said it kept everyone safe. Second, I asked her about the penalty. She typed things into her computer (hooked up to the DMV system), made some edits, and quickly deleted the fees based upon COVID. It saved me the hassle of DMV, its lines, and its bureaucracy. The people who work face to face with you behind the counter and desks are great! The stars are only for them but get on the phone with someone and it's a whole different story. The customer service on the phone is TERRIBLE. Call claims and them a question and all you get is attitude and rudeness. I called after an accident for a claim to be started and they didn't even ask me if I was OK or needed help. I would go some place else for insurance but since I hav been them for so long I get the cheapest rates from them so I will stay to save money. read more

This is for my agent Mike Valencia. He is so super, he's been my agent for the past seven years! He always answers my emails and phone calls. So reliable, and so nice. I go in about once a year and he answers ALL my insurance questions. One year my dad switched insurance companies to Farmers because of a persuasive agent. Well, the next year his policy went up $200!!!(wtf?) Bait and switch (fyi, I've had this happen to me at Allstate too!). Farmer's explanation? Prices are up everywhere. Uh, no! I went to Mike, and he said no such thing. Mike kept the same coverage, lowered my dad's deductible, and got him an additional discount for our homeowners insurance. So, I saved around $300 over Farmers. Don't get ripped. Go to the MV AAA and ask for Mike Valencia! read more

I went to this branch today, and after waiting in line for 15 minutes, told the clerk that I was there to do 3 things: renew my membership, pay the annual fee on my insurance, and to transfer the title on a car I just bought. She turned the title over and told me to come back after I filled out the top portion. I asked if that meant waiting in line again -- it did! So I filled it out, my name, address, driver's license -- it took all of a minute and a half. The line was pretty long now, it meant a 20 minutes of standing around thinking why this clerk couldn't have handled my membership and insurance issues while I filled out the thing. Admittedly if I had been more on the ball, I would have suggested that to her (i.e. help her to do her job properly). Just as I approached the front of this second line. The clerks announced to everyone that the DMV line was down, and it could be minutes or hours before it was up again. At that moment it was my turn and the only available clerk was the one I first met. I told her that if she handled my case as mentioned above I wouldn't have had to wait in line a second time and I would have completed my business, but now I am forced to come back some other day. She said it "wouldn't make any difference because the DMV line is down anyway". This is a totally illogical statement. The difference is that I wouldn't have had to wait in line a second time and the transfer could have been handled when the DMV line was up. (Now am I supposed to trust this clerical genius to handle my DMV and AAA business properly when I return tomorrow?) I told her that she screwed up, and she said "Sorry". This AAA has ample parking and usually doesn't have too long of a wait. I got new license plates here. With a membership, they'll hand you free maps of wherever you're heading. I asked about places to stay in wine country and was disappointed with the little brochure of only a half-dozen hotels. Amusingly, when I asked for a map of Colombia the woman handed me a state map. When I looked confused, she said, "You mean Columbia, California, right?" I smilingly said, "No, I mean the country Colombia." read more

I guess with smartphones..the demand for paper maps has decreased--the front long counter with all the cabinets for the maps have all disappeared. However, the service is exceptional still! The worst service ever...Saturday night I call at 12:45am battery died it's 2:36am and I'm still waiting in the cold.

Unfortunately had to call on AAA road service TWICE in the past 3 weeks, first time hit a curb, damaged sidewall. AAA put on the temporary spare and I was on my way, and then a few days ago, dead battery, they were out in 15 min to get it charged up. I will say there was a bit of an upsell as they told me I am about 'ready' for new battery based on some testing they do, price was $136 which is pricey, and clearly would pay it if I was stuck, but think I can do better at Sears. So deducted one star for pricey batteries, you would think that their batteries should be cheaper. In any case the service is always professional and polite, they show up on time and do a great job. read more

This is a review for AAA Insurance for Northern California, not this specific office. I have been waiting for almost 6 hours for a tow truck with no status updates whatsoever. I have been calling the AAA number every hour to get a status update and each one said the truck would be here in an hour. Found out that there is only 1 tow truck for the whole Santa Clara area. i had aaa for years and when i finally had to use them my truck was in a parking garage, which i explained and the truck they sent could not tow my truck, their driver would not even attempt to tow, so i called and explained again for a second time, and aaa then said they would send another tow company, however they sent the same tow company which again did not have proper equipment to tow. This happened again for a third time, then aaa cancelled their tow call and said none of their providers could tow out of a garage. so i cancelled aaa. read more

I call in advance to get a international driver's license. The lady who answers in a very rude manner doesn't even let me finish my question as soon as she hears "driver's permit" and tells me they only have a few left and tells me " you would need to come right now to get it". Now I work a block away from there so i'm there in less than 5 minutes. I walk in and this lady who's playing on her cell phone in the rudest manner tells me they are out of permits. Excellent service and followup by Fortes Towing: The folk associated with Fortes Towing have been excellent at getting my BMW started a number of times. And they persisted in getting the AAA to replace an AAA-installed battery although it tested "OK"; eventually the AAA decided to increase the battery capacity for BMWs. I think the first two inadequate AAA-suppied batteries were the primary reason I had to get my car jump started a number of times. read more

I left three messages with my name and phone number over a several day period and never got the courtesy of a return call. I finally went in to change my address on my CA Drivers License only to wait in line and then be informed they no longer provide the service. They were uncaring and rather abrupt. After paying their fees for 25+ years and never using their services, I was really disappointed in them. this place out to be shut down and put out of business. Outrageous. I switched to AAA for both Auto and Homeowners insurance a couple of years ago mainly because the homeowners was much cheaper than other insurers I researched. I turned out that by having both insurances I ended up getting a great deal on my Auto insurance as well. I am paying a couple of hundred dollars less than all of the major insurers charge. I have only had one incident recently (a broken windshield) and is was very easy to get replaced and reimbursed. I would recommend to anyone and the bonus is that you get all of the benefits of being a AAA member. read more

I've been a member for ~30 years and had the worst experience one could ever imagine with AAA. They took 1.5 hours to come out ( this is the second time they took so long - double the time to service an issue in this last year) and 45 minutes later than they promised. Then they wanted $25 more than the $127.99 they promised for the new battery they quoted me over the phone. Later they stated the prices on the website are only a guideline and that prices could be significantly more, as much as $25 more than what is stated or promised, as they do not set the prices for their batteries. They use Ellison's a horrible company with a towing monopoly in Santa Clara county). AAA is a useless membership to keep as they do not stand behind their services or their products. Ellison's didn't want to provide the warranty discount they owed us as our battery was still under a 5 year warranty. My battery went from dead to suddenly revivable when they learned it was still under warranty. AAA's Supervisor Chris is a liar and a terrible person with no business acumen or integrity. He claimed AAA does not set the price for their batteries. He also promised to solve the communication disconnect, call me back, and to provide the warranty coverage I was under. Nothing materialized and he left me stranded. In fact Ellison's/AAA drove away without helping me when I needed a jump start and new battery to make my early evening flight. I contacted them at 7 am. They never came through to help. So much for the fake concern for a customers safety and well-being. They left me stranded. I never received Chris's call back - he left me stranded. I borrowed a friend's car and I went to Walmart and bought a new battery for $49. AAA wanted $150 for the equivalent battery. Chris's lack of integrity and his horrendous lack of integrity saved me $100 on a battery. Further, I intend to cancel all service with AAA and recover all fees paid for their lack of service. I suggest everyone does that as they clearly have no intention of standing behind their word, products or services. More disconcerting is that they left me unattended. Anyone with a new driver in the family or an elderly relative ought to find a much more trustworthy entity to put faith into when it comes to roadside assistance- AAA has absolutely no integrity and should NEVER be trusted. read more

We tried to schedule a car seat inspection last week. We called and left a message several times, including speaking with 3 separate service representatives from this AAA site. They reported leaving a message for the person and that we would receive a return call later that afternoon. A week later, none of our phone calls were returned. Although this service is an added benefit performed voluntarily, the complete disregard for our queries was unprofessional. If you are trying to schedule your car seat inspection, be aware that you will need to schedule at least 6-8 weeks in advance and that your phone calls may not be returned at all. The CHP, select fire departments and your hospital may be more responsive and will help you find alternative locations if those institutions have no availability. read more
