I rarely go into AAA but needed road maps. There was 1 person at the cashier waiting on someone that needed to register 3 cars. There were 6 people in line. There were 3 agents NOT DOING ANYTHING. I asked for the manager but she was out to lunch then returned only to tell me that she is the only person that can work a cash register and because of COVID getting tired of that as an excuse. The schools are opening-but AAA can't. There are no maps, no service and all I got from the manager was oops! sorry. This is what I'm paying for on my membership. ridiculous. It took all of 2 minutes once I wasted over an hour waiting and excuses overflowing. This manager is terrible and should train her agents to do other things than sit on their cell phones while doing nothing and a line out the door needing help. ! read more

Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm. I was expecting a terrible experience today based on some of the reviews... but it was quite pleasant. She invited us to hang out in the the waiting area while she completed our international driving permits. Again we were asked if we needed help. We waited about 5 minutes for the permits. This office is great thing to have in the neighborhood. Convenient location, metered parking during business hours. DMV Servises for AAA members. Now is the bed part about it. I purchased insurance with monthly payments plan. I have two vehicles and needed them to be insured. Particular query was to have them covered while they parked. I got agent Lifan Thai who offered me the plan according my description. I paid all fees and have been sure my property is insured. One day I noticed my work car was broken in to. Called claim department and got surprised with their resolution. In this case you have to by renters insurance In about a year or more I got damage on my other car while it was parked on 19th. Guess what? Your plan doesn't cover this damage because you need collision and you have comprehensive. I had to pay near $3K out of my pocket to fix my car. Then I got call from AAA from Lifan Thai and she is telling me that my insurance is suspended and I need to pay full balance all the way to next year to even take a look at my policy and find out why my claims never handled as expected. If you don't have AAA you, my friend, are an absolute fool. My boss got me AAA as a gift after I locked my keys into my friends car, while it was running (!!!) with my cell phone and wallet inside. BONED. I was hating life. A passerby called a locksmith for me.... and a second. He reasoned that I would be better off that way. Okay, whatever. Both locksmiths showed around the same time so I was out not one, but two locksmith fees. I showed up late for work, My boss asked if I had AAA. I told him no. He looked at me and told me that was stupid. He then told me to purchase myself a AAA membership, on his dime, and to purchase the good one. From that day I have been a AAA Plus member. Fast forward two months later. I bought Siouxsie, my motorcycle. Five days later some A-hole knocks her over outside of Whole Foods and drives off. My clutch lever was busted off so I wasn't going anywhere. I called AAA. They sent a truck and we towed her to my warehouse. Yes, AAA covers motorcycles. Today, I ran out of gas (yes, I am hanging my head in shame and will not make that mistake again). Once again, AAA came to my rescue. I compare AAA to that family member you can call who will drop everything or roll out of bed in their pajamas to come bail you out for free. Except AAA doesn't lecture you afterward and you don't owe them anything. Both times I would have been out at least $50. Instead, AAA picked up the tab which made the trauma of my bike getting knocked over and the embarrassment of running out of gas a lot easier to take. I love AAA so much that I purchased a gift membership, from this store, for my mom. I will NEVER let my AAA membership lapse. It's already proved itself invaluable. By the way, my mom's card showed up three business days after I bought her membership. That's totally awesome. I feel good knowing that, should her car break down, she's covered. My mom lives on SSDI and a $200 tow would cost about a third of what she gets each month. What can I say, AAA has been really good to me. Not saying that I'm a total bridezilla (I'm really not) or a control freak, but I have to totally give a shoutout to Nataliya Bankova - she's the travel specialist at this AAA branch. And coming from a girl who always SCOURS the interwebz for the best travel deals (we made it to DC for like, $385/person including hotel and airfare for 5 days last year) and never uses any pro travel services, this is a big deal. In between planning my wedding and transitioning to a new job (bye corporate finance! And HELLO MY OWN PERSONAL LIFE AND HOBBIES), the last thing I wanted was to plan my honeymoon. My fiance wanted to go to countries I've already been, and I wanted to go somewhere where neither of us have been so it would be a new experience for both of us. The other hitch was that our wedding was in June, and the two places that we REALLY wanted to go to, S. Africa and Antarctica, had travel season in their summer, which would be our winter, and we didn't want to wait 6 months to take our honeymoon. So I tried to do some of the planning on my own. I wanted to see more than just one country in 2 weeks, so we figured we could join some kind of tour, where we wouldn't have to worry about transportation between countries, hotels, etc. I don't have time or patience to scour out each country's list of must-sees, so when we saw an Adventures by Disney vacation to Prague, Germany and Austria, we were both thrilled - it seemed to have a GREAT itinerary (pretzel-making class?!?! DONE), so I went to AAA to see what kind of sweet deals they could give us, since we're members. We also told Nataliya that we wanted to tack on a side trip to Paris for a few days before or after the tour, and she recommended going prior to the tour, since we'd be wiped out after 10 days of journeying through central Europe. She also gave us suggestions and brochures to check out European river cruises, but we went ahead and told her to book the Disney one for us. She said it would be great, since normally people don't bring small children to central Europe, and we would be going at a beautiful time of year. Happily ever after, until she told us a few days later that the date we wanted was completely sold out. So, in a pinch, I asked her to look into the Galapagos tours for us. She found one that we wanted, AND kept a lookout for a date closer to our wedding, which she was able to find. She told me that she would hang onto the spot for us because it had just opened up on the waiting list, and once we got back to her she would book it. We have no complaints about working with Nataliya. She's made the honeymoon planning process so seamless, and we can't wait to go on our trip. She even offered to send me a replacement AAA card (I'm pretty sure I accidentally threw it away, thinking it was my old expired one). I'm so glad my membership benefits are paying off! read more

My family purchased a new car on the 8th and were told that day by our agent to come in when we could to talk over a couple of things. Today, the 10th, we walked in and saw that there were two people ahead of us waiting to see the agent. We asked the receptionist whether it'd be a long wait and whether it would be better to come back at a later time. She said that it would be a quick wait, that we would be next after the two people who were waiting ahead of us. Seemed more than fair, so we waited. Fast forward a couple minutes, the agent is done with the two ahead of us. At the same time, a large group of people walk in. The agent walks to the group and asks them what they need. My mother tells the agent that we were here first, thus we should be helped first. The agent then has the nerve to tell us, "I don't need to work with you. You can go to someone else instead." We are now looking at either a new agent or another insurance company altogether. How dare you disrespect my mother (or anyone else's mother) like that. read more

I went into this AAA location to do a change of ownership and register a new car that I recently purchased. Marvin assisted me and as I was filling out the necessary paperwork he came over to let me know that there was an issue with pending fees from previous owners and that I needed to go into the DMV to have them taken care of it. After providing me with all of the necessary documents I would need to take with me I left and was appreciative of him letting me know about the fees and assisting me as best he could. He even offered me and my mother a beverage while we were there and brought us cups of water. Upon going to the Daly City DMV, I was given incorrect information from one of their employees who told me I needed more information on my document even after telling her that AAA had provided me with all that I needed. Quickly trying to make me not her problem anymore, the lady refused to give me any useful information on how to get the issue resolved and I left feeling deflated and frustrated before I even made it inside the building. Trusting my gut and what Marvin had told me during my visit at AAA, I quickly called the AAA Richmond office to double check if what the DMV employee told me was correct or not. I was transferred to Marvin, who remembered me from my previous visit, and confirmed that I was right in questioning the DMV employee because what she had told me was completely wrong. He told me not to worry and that the issue was simple and that the DMV could easily take care of it. Hearing him say that was the first time all morning that I felt some form of help on the issue and it made me breath a sigh of relief that there was hope in getting the issue resolved after all. After heading to the San Mateo DMV for a second go at getting things taken care of, I was finally able to register my new car. Not only did Marvin display great customer service, he clearly has a better understanding and knowledge of DMV related things than the actual DMV. If you made it this far after reading through my venting feedback, make AAA your first stop before heading to the DMV if you need anything DMV related taken care of. read more

Needed to update my vehicle registration. Got it done. Easy and quick, or at least relatively quick. There was a short wait but it was absolutely nothing like it would have been if I'd gone to the actual DMV. The guy in front of me did one of those exasperated sighs that one does when things are taking too long, but seriously it was only a few minutes wait. He probably had some Taco Bell food waiting in his car or something. I used my waiting time to assemble my payment, have my papers ready, and bashfully eavesdropped on someone helping a lady over the phone with her travel plans. Super friendly people! read more

AAA or any auto insurance for customer service is a fat hit or miss. My last experience with AAA was a relatively positive one. I needed proof that my name was on the insurance, and the agent on the phone was kind enough to send it via e-mail within 5 minutes and even followed up on it. His customer service was excellent and if I could, I would rate him 5 stars. However, what I don't understand is why AAA now has simple paper as insurance cards.. it makes the AAA image feel so cheap when they're the most expensive insurance around. Might as well be paperless and charge people less. Negative experiences almost always happens when I actually go in to AAA to talk to an agent. The mood of the people there are terrible. Not to be sexist, but most desk people in the department are women, and when you talk to them, its feels as if you personally ran over their beloved dog that morning before you saw them. Anyways, 3 stars instead of 1 for the last positive customer service experience. Please hire and screen for friendlier but still as knowledgeable department workers, maybe some people that actually appreciate a job. read more

It's nice that they have an area that can do all your DMV needs, but I wouldn't have DMV issues if they had been taken care of the correct way the first time. However, I appreciate the willingness to work with me on items and call me directly about issues. I went in one time to work on something and my toll was running out so the guy I was working with gave me quarters to put in the machine. How thoughtful! It was really appreciated and made my experience totally different knowing that the agent was thoughtful enough to consider my parking needs. But seriously, it's really irritating when things get messed up by your insurance company and the customer has to spend hours getting it fixed. read more

CSAA now officially sucks. Effective Oct 2011, they charge a $4 DMV fee. It use to be a service only to members only but now it seems to be a method to increase revenue. Also, their travel consultant Nataliya is rude and crude. She helps you cause she has too but not in a polite way. She treats you in a demeaning manner. read more

I needed visa photos for three countries. AAA associate Adis (sp?) greeted me and I explained what I needed. He took me to the section where the photos are taken. He was knowledgeable about the passport camera and software used to resize the photos for each country's requirements, and then he trimmed the photos to the correct sizes. Photo-taking, processing and transaction time were satisfactory. Price for each set of 2 photos was cheaper than FedEx Office (where I used to work) and Walgreens. read more

I like my experience with AAA auto insurance, especially at this branch. I needed a new policy quickly for a vehicle and was referred to an agent at the branch, Lifen Ng-Thai. She was extrememly efficient and easy to work with. She pinpointed my needs and was able to work out a policy that met my expectations perfectly. The best perk of this AAA branch is the mini DMV office they have located inside. I had several issues to deal with regarding DMV and the in-house rep, Patrick, was very helpful and knowledgeable. What impressed me the most was you can tell Patrick actually cares about solving your issues and he went the extra mile with even the simplest forms of his service I'm very thankful to have stumbled upon AAA for my auto insurance. I am Very dissatisfied with the services here. I have been paying for insurance for several years. They only thing i have ever received from AAA is denials on legit claims. I was recently told that my vehicle was not covered after I have been paying premiums on it for the last two years. There is no customer service and the insurance coverage is sub par. Please improve. I had a very daunting task that ultimately had to be processed at the dmv. I was very nervous and wanted to be as prepared as possible. I learned AAA helped people with many dmv tasks. I was thrilled to learn that they can help you with the paperwork that no ordinary human can figure out. I came in and worked with Patrick who was so professional, kind and understanding, taking the time with the forms reassuring me about the future task at hand visiting the great oz (dmv). I felt happy that he was so patient and knowledgeable about this very imposing fortress of a bureaucracy. When I got to the place matching its reputation in every way I had what I needed. There was one glitch, not having anything to do with Patrick's support. In soup nazi haste we were told to fill out the bottom of a form. We thought we were to sign the bottom of the form and did so. When we got to the window of doom the representative shouted that our signing the form meant our purpose of being there was void because we had taken this fatal action. In that moment I thought I was only going to be permitted to drive in El Salvador. Long story short the representative pulled a string to straighten out the situation. A+ insurance rating, according to the insurance industry rating. The people at AAA are nice. Just signing up for the AAA membership saved me HOURS from lining up at the crazy DMV office. That alone is worth it. Of course I always need maps since I don't own a GPS. == I get my car insurance with Sue. She's the nice lady sitting in front. Tell her i referred you , maybe I get a free key chain or something. = Did you know they offer property insurance? They are one of the best. The contractor taking care of my flood and many other contractors know AAA has the best service: quickest and highest claim reinbursement. I don't recommend filing a claim if you don't have to but you are well taken care of. By the way, the only other place that offerred better property insurance is _____. It has an A-. Email me and I'll tell me, maybe I'll get a referral fee...not sure if they do... Farmers, State FArm, I tried them all, they don't offer a better price.... even with multi house, car etc... discount. Recently, my car registration sticker was stolen from my license plate, and that was the reason I went to the AAA office at 599 Clement St, San Francisco, to get a replacement sticker. Upon arrival, the guy at the front, Richard with glasses, asked if he could help us, in a very unfriendly tone of voice. There was also this lady walking around with her face mask below her nose, and asking us if she could help us. Does AAA train their employees about the correct way to wear masks? She was not wearing a name tag so I didn't get her name. After waiting for about 45 minutes, then they explained that their computer system had been down and only 1 terminal was working. So Richard at the front couldn't have told me upon arrival that the wait was long and that I might want to come back another time? That would be one big help he could have offered at the front. The same lady finally logged into her computer, which she said took her 15 minutes. My replacement sticker only took all but 5 minutes. Why couldn't she log in earlier to help shorten the hour-long wait? As a paying member since 1987, I was treated as if my time was worth less than theirs? Customer service, at least at that branch, is extremely lacking. Richard should cease to interact with customers because of his negative attitude, and the lady needs to learn how to wear a mask properly so she doesn't endanger the paying customers. The inefficiency was not because of a crowd needing "help". There was just no excuse for the crappy customer service. read more

I was attended courteously and promptly and provided with quotations that will save me an $500/year. STILL terrible. Car broke down in the fast lane of the highway. As of 2.5 hours, still no sign of AAA. Despite multiple call to their call center, they were unable to give an ETA. After the last call, they said the tow would be here at 9:49pm. I don't know what they use to determine an ETA but the tow showed up at 9:35pm. The agents name was Lifen Ng-Thai I just checked her bio on the AAA web site and she states in the about me section "Service is my passion and customer satisfaction is my ultimate reward" Hmmm Well i guess if blowing folks off who try to check in with her after an accident caused by her client and adding to the stress of having a new Pries seriously damaged while it was parked is what is considered servicing the customer then she is doing a great job. I went to pick up my vehicle registration sticker after completing all the necessary paperwork. Because the vehicle was technically under my relative's name, Patrick told me my relative had to be the one to pick it up otherwise it would have to be mailed to the associated address (which would take roughly a week). Because we needed the sticker sooner rather than later, I explicitly asked Patrick NOT to mail it because my relative would come pick up the sticker the very next day, to which he agreed. My relative went to pick up the sticker the next day and was told it already had been mailed. Not the biggest deal, but but the communication error cost us in this situation. Most likely won't come back to this site this AAA site. read more

If you need DMV services DO NOT go HERE This is the 2nd and last time the DMV service person made my life very difficult. Go to the Potrero office they are VERY helpful and knowledgeable. These guys just stare at the screen and give you the wrong info. They do not know how to use the system. My issues are to long and involved to get into but they could have EASILY been resolved if the guy (wish I knew his name) would have had some training or maybe some customer service skills. Instead it caused me to waste my time and energy and drive across town for someone to help me. The manager was conveniently off today but he will hear from me next week. read more
