I shipped very fragile china from this place by Fedx. I thought they were an official Fedx store. However,the china arrived broken and when I tried to file a class, it turns out shipment was in their name and not mine. They refused to file a claim because I didn't have a picture of the whole box, even though I provided multiple pictures of the broken china in the open box. DO NOT SHIP WITH THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY. Useless. They cannot process QR codes. ? If you need to do a FedEx return, Walgreens is a couple blocks down. They take FedEx and print from QR code. (Go to the main cash register for help.) And if you need to do USPS, the post office is a few blocks further. read more

Yes, the line can get long and there are only 1-2 reps available to serve you. So you'll need to take deep breaths and be patient. Went into ship something to Los Angeles and the line was quite long. When I arrived and inquired about price, it was almost double the amount of a standard FedEx stores pricing for the same type of service. Additionally, they did not have all of the service options available that a standard FedEx store has. I am OK with a slightly limited array of services and a higher cost but double seems to be too much and it doesn't seem to make sense to go to a place like this when you can walk into a FedEx store and handle your shipping needs without the added cost and usually without the extended wait time. read more

I hate shitty customer service, especially if it is totally unprovoked. I came here on Wednesday morning to drop off a FedEx package. The store was empty. The guy who works there was talking to somebody on the phone. I stood there for a few moments waiting for an acknowledgment but he just kept talking. I honestly don't give a rats ass how important your phone call might be - all you have to do is just tell me that you will be available to help me eventually. Getting really irritated with such a crappy attitude I have made an attempt to speak to this guy and ask where should I place the package. Instead of stopping for a second with his conversation he through his hand in front of my face - the universal gesture to "shut up"! What an asshole. Excuse me for inconvenience you. Please beware. I am a small business, and have used The Postal Chase to drop off pre-paid packages for years. On October 31, 2017, I dropped off two boxes for Fedex pick-up. The recipients never received their packages, and I am out over $1,000. Fedex does not even have record that the packages were received. Since the Postal Chase doesn't give you receipts or scan your drop offs, I have no recourse. I have tried speaking to a manager, but she was rude and just told me to contact Fedex. I will not be using this business in the future and plan on filing a report. read more

I can honestly say that this place has the absolute worst customer service standards. I frequent Postal Chase due to its extremely close proximity to my house and have never really had any problems there before. My business here is simple, I want to recieve a few faxes and send a few faxes and pay for them all at once with my debit card. No biggy, right? Obvisouly not. My first set of faxes came out too dark for me to read and in order to have them re-faxed I would have had to pay for another set of faxes. This I thought was insane, why the hell should I have to pay another three bucks to have something faxed if the error isn't on my part? So my decision is simple, I request for my refund, pay for the faxes I can't read and take my business to a place where they aren't tight wades and charge for re-prints of bad faxes. This process took about 15 minutes because the sales girl did not know how to do this. Couple days later I check my bank account, the charge hasn't been reserved so I go in to check in on it. Girl tells me they need a copy to show to their manage and then he'll get back to me in a few days. Me being the poor college student I am, am lacking a printer. Girl recommends me to go to the public library and pay to have my bank statement printed. I told her it wasn't logical for ME to spend money to fix THEIR error. After tempers flaired I left for my bank to get a copy of my statement and bring it back into the Postal Chase. My bank statement shows that I was: 1. Charged for a larger sum than I paid for and 2. It cleared three days after I paid for it (which as everyone knows, it takes banks a day or two to clear something) After more tempers flaring I leave very, very, very, upset awaiting a call from the manager. A few days later I get a call from a smart-assed, rude, manager of the Postal Chase. The conversation was basically, "You're bank needs to start doing it's just right." Now I must wait 90days from when my charge was voided to see if my bank made the error. After that 90 days once my bank shows the reversal was not cleared, I have to go deal with this jack ass manage again, all to get $12.45 refunded back to me. All in all: Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Thank you Yelpers! Postal Chase, hands down, provided me with one of the best customer service experiences of my life. A few days before my big move to New York, I stopped into the store to get a general price quote. The girl working there was incredibly helpful, answering all my questions. She told me to just bring all my stuff over and they would take care of it. We unloaded a few large boxes and a big iMac into the store. The employees measured and weighed an average box, and selected the cheapest shipping option for me (USPS, UPS, or FedEx). Upon seeing the iMac, I heard a couple of them say, "I want to pack it!" They actually WANTED to pack it. Then, she told us to go get lunch, come back, and it would all be taken care of. We did, and it was. My computer and belongings are now safely in New York, thanks to Postal Chase and their willingness to do all the hard work. Sheesh, they even consolidated a couple of smaller boxes into a larger box to save me money! Don't go anywhere else. read more

I rent a mailbox from these cats. They always call me whenever I receive a package of some sort. Friendly staff. Shipping can be expensive - they charge a premium over going directly to USPS, UPS, or Fedex. But whatever if your stuff isn't wrapped and your shipping label isn't printed out, just drop off whatever you have to ship and have the staff take care of the rest. read more

$26 for Fed Ex? Are you effing kidding me? Granted I haven't used Fed Ex in a few years, but if I recall it was $14 for an overnight to San Diego, and now it's $26? That is HUGE inflation, or maybe this place marks it up to make their money which is understandable as we all have to make money. But good lord. It was a shock for me. Shock aside, yes this place is way easier than going to the post office. Line wasn't too long, and service was okay, the girl knew what she was doing so that did make me feel better. I only used the place really to drop off DHL stuff and overnight things so I can't fairly comment on any other services. But 100% better than the lines at the post office. I absolutely LOVE the Postal Chase in West Portal. When I was moving residences, I knew I had to find a place to hold my mail until I was moved in. Ironically, I've ended up holding on to my mail box here ever since! Everyone is really friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Tony is especially great; a true Zen Master behind that desk. I don't understand why certain boxes cost more than others or even the difference between all of the different postal service companies (UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL, etc ...) That's where the people working at The Postal Chase come in. Whenever I have questions, they have answers. For example, I went in the other day with a couple of books that I wanted to mail to my niece for her birthday. The guy behind the counter suggested that I go to the actual post office across the street to mail the books via media mail because it would cheaper than regular mail (TPC doesn't do media mail). I walked in on Saturday morning with my purse overflowing with "to-do" lists and "to-do"s. I had to ship something to the Bronx and had no idea what I was doing. I didn't have the address ready, didn't know when it needed to be there...I was just a mess. I kept taking the things out that I needed and then kept putting them back in my bag before I'd used them. JUST A MESS Through all of this, the girl behind the counter was so patient and helpful. I think if I had been in her situation, I would have pulled my sassy pants on pretty tight, having to deal with me and my idiocy. So...it was just so nice of her to be patient, suggest I call my sister and wait for me to figure it all out. West Portal has a small village atmosphere but equipped full conveniences from 3 national bank branches, Post Office, UPS, restaurants of many varieties, bars, novelty coffee shops, several hair salons, spas, animal groomers and even an old fashion shoe repair, It begins at the mouth of West Portal muni stop so door to Embarcadero is about 20 minutes. Hence, it serves both Forest Hill, St. Francis Woods, Forest Hill Extension and West Portal communities. Then we have this small mail stop: The Postal Chase.. This is a go to photo copy, notary, delivery and pick up, packaging and mail box service. It's right next to Peets, and meter parking is usually ok. There's usually 2 counter clerks that work there and one is incredibly nice and the other is grumplesilkskin. They have a record of your addresses that you usually send to which saves time; especially as I send care packages to the same addresses. The pricing is decent. There's never more than 1 person in front of you versus UPS, which always have at least 3 or 4 persons with 1 counter person. Which is ok if you have to use UPS. The nice clerk is always looking for a cheaper way for me to get my package/letter to where ever I need to get to. The other eyes me even when I borrow their pen. There is a nice small convenience that the nice clerk will do: when I run out of printer ink, I'll email what I need to have printed, he'll print it and I just stop by and pick it up. How customer friendly is that! They also have greeting cards, packaging materials for emergency last minute needs - I think the pricing on these and selections is expensive and narrow but good for a pinch. This is a nice shop to have and good location by the subway station. read more

I have a box here and I occasionally use them for package mailing. It's a very friendly place, the box rentals are reasonable, the shipping markup is comparable to similar stores. The packing is excellent. The only ding is that around Christmas time they really need a couple extra staffers. Madden 10 wasn't great, and luckily, Amazon is willing to pay me $40 for it. I took the offer and printed their prepaid UPS shipping label. Riding on the M, I missed the UPS Store down the block, so this was most convenient drop-off location near West Portal Station. I got in the store, picked up a 82 cent bubble-wrap envelope, and proceeded to cram the crappy game inside. The guy behind the counter saw me and asked if I was returning it to EA. I chuckled, and said I was trading it in. We briefly talked about how EA's monopoly ruined the football genre and that the monopoly might end next year. He suggested that ESPN Football 2K5 was good. Will look into that. He helped me tape the label onto the envelope and as of tonight, it's in the hands of UPS. Great service. I rarely converse, but this guy was personable (and I'm not). Thinking of opening a postal box there for my packages. And whenever I do return packages, this is where I'm going to go to drop them off. read more

I'd called multiple times to talk to someone about a box and it went to VM every time. I didn't leave a voicemail because I always end up playing phone tag. So I just risked going down there not knowing if they had what I needed. When I got there I expected it to be busy but there was no one there except for the employee (who was cordial). I asked for a box for a large item (about 40' tall) and all they had was a 48' tall box. Fine. But it was too big. The lady shrugged and I asked who else might have the right box. She said the UPS store. I went there and all they had was a 48' box BUT they offered to cut it down for me. They cut it to size and helped me tape it up and off I went to the post office to ship it more cheaply than UPS. Maybe she doesn't know how to cut the box down, but for a postal business I'd expect a tad bit more. It's too bad because I wanted to buy from a local company. Last March I went to the Postal Chase on West Portal Road to send two packages to Peru. I sent them by regular mail and understood that they were not tracked or guaranteed. One of the packages never arrived. When I called to see if they could check with the post office, your representative at West Portal curtly informed me that I could do it myself. Even though I would have expected some follow-up service, I might have tried to do it myself, but I do not have the receipt. Perhaps your office lost it as well. In any case, I do not plan to do any further business with your firm; next time, I'll go straight to the post office or UPS or wherever else I need to send packages. read more

The friendly and efficient Postal Chase on West Portal has been my #1 go-to destination for frequent shipping of care packages to my son for at least 8 years, first when my son was a student abroad living in Italy and now when he lives and teaches in Germany. The owner, Mario, is so sharp and his well-trained staff has been so attentive and helpful. I am always greeted by my full name warmly whenever I come to the shop! Many of the items I have brought to ship are oddball sizes or delicate items, including glass items, and everything I have shipped abroad to my son has always arrived promptly and in great condition. The staff helps me save money by making sure I know every option and the best financial choice. I get a detailed receipt in my email inbox the second I have paid for the shipping in addition to the printed receipt, so the tracking information is very handy at all times. I've been meaning to write this review for years, and today, the service was so outstanding that I want to share my experience. I was shipping two pieces of framed art and a stack of children's books for my toddler-granddaughter's bedroom in Germany. One of the artworks was a valuable framed print that was so large that I learned it would have cost $900 to send it to Germany framed! Ordering this huge print new from Germany is not an option, as the print is truly vintage -- many decades old. (I've seen it appear every blue moon on eBay, but in much smaller sizes.) I really wanted my son to have this artwork -- originally a gift from his grandmother for his childhood bedroom when he was a toddler himself -- to carry on a family tradition for his own baby's room. Mario took time to carefully disassemble the frame, taking care to treat the print with the utmost care, meticulously roll the print in a protective mailer, and it can be re-framed once it arrives in Germany. Voila! Mission accomplished -- and for approximately $200 -- a shipping savings of $700! Plus I have it on good authority from Mario that framing is much less expensive in Germany than in San Francisco. My job took about 15 minutes, and while Mario made sure I had the best service available, his assistant, May, helped other customers who came into the shop efficiently, with a smile, and no customer had to wait in line while I was being helped. There is something about sending mail that makes people go friggin' bananas and loose their minds! Why??? Ya need ta CHILL. I've loved this place from the moment I started using it. They happily pack your stuff for you if you don't have time, they have all the packing supplies right there. They are quick and efficient, they move through from customer to customer so you aren't standing in line. That's more than I can say for the US Post Office, yikes. They have UPS and FedEx pick up several times a day, PO boxes, fax, copy machines etc. Once I called them to check on a package I sent and they had all the delivery information for me over the phone.
