Went to Bob Sumerel in Hyde Park plaza and they took great care of me. They were super friendly and understanding and took the time to explain things to me. They gave me a lot of options and they were all very honest and helpful. They answered all my questions (I had a lot) and were happy to help, it really put me at ease. Turned out all my tires were in rough shape and I needed 4 new ones. They were not pushy at all and they offered to just do the 1 tire today if I'd like. Definitely will return there for future service, plus you can walk around the whole shopping center or hangout in Panera and wait for your car. Lots of options! read more

How bad is a one star 'not good'? It is poor! Sad to see an organization wearing a AAA badge. They failed the customer service creed! I came in for a tire rotation, a rim leak on one tire as well as two new headlamp bulbs. One was burned out and yes, please replace both and the turn signal bulbs. Strike One. I was told they would not work on the tires as they were too old. But here is a quote for a secondhand brand of tires to replace the Michelin's that have great tread life remaining. They are old. Quote for the secondhand brand over $800 dollars. Onto the headlamps. the "Chevy book" says to takes this long to correctly remove the inner shield under the hood, the wheel well splash guards and the front bumper cover then the lamp bulb. The short cut is to remove the wheel (the one you won't touch because of it' s age) and pull the wheel well splash guard back, reach in and replace the lamp bulb. Time saved of the 'book'! Note: I asked for both bulbs to be replaces knowing I would save myself labor charges and please replace both turn signal bulbs, again to save labor charges in the future. Strike Two. What I got was take the short cut, no tire repairs and a bill for what amounts to two head lamp bulbs for $265.00! The bulbs were listed on the bill for $21.99 each- fair price. Labor $232.39 for the short cut, taxes and shop fees additional. How bad is a single star? 'not good' It is Poor! Shop elsewhere. read more

I would strongly advise against bringing your car to Bob Summerall in Hyde Park for an oil change or any other service. I had a terrible experience with them two months ago when I brought my car in for an oil change. Not only did they fail to change the oil, but they also neglected to reattach the air duct connecting the air filter, causing it to flap around and not properly process air through my car's engine bay. Additionally, I strongly suspect that they stole my brand new battery and replaced it with an inferior one that is now capless (missing acid cap) spilling acid and losing its life rapidly. Despite their "polite associates" and claims of top-notch service, it is clear that the maintenance employees at this location are neglectful and may even try to sabotage your car so that you have to bring it back in. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all cost! Also, the lady who works at the far right desk needs an attitude check and manner training! Just because I am younger looking, it doesn't mean you have to be disrespectful and disregard my concerns! My tire pressure sensor (TPMS) I believe was damaged when I had new tires put on a Rav4 at Bob Summeral's in Hyde Park Plaza. The TPMS are very sensitive and I've learned to use area air pumps, I even have my own gauge. Unfortunately in the past I have left after service and the TPMS light has been on. I am used to driving away from service with the light on and take myself to the nearest reliable air pump. After new tires were put on by a mechanic at the Hyde Park Bob Summeral Tires the sensor would not go off. I returned to Bob Summeral's to tell them I cannot get the new tires air pressure right. After a mechanic checked my tire's pressure and still the light still stayed on, "sometimes they go bad". He did not say (nor did I know) was the sensors can be damaged when new tires are being put on. I thought the sensors may have a fuse not understanding they are attached to the wheel and when a new tire is put on it can be damaged if not careful. Today the manager tried to tell me the sensors only last 5 to 7 years. My research found a quality TPMS lasts 7 to 12 years and that the most common way for them to fail is the battery life. ~The batteries on these sensors are only used when the tires are in motion so the age of the car is not as important as the milage.~ I have about 27k on my car. The manager did not know the battles are in use only when the tires are in motion. The TPMS stopped functioning correctly after new tires where installed and when I bought the vehicle back the same week the tires were put on I was only told "Sometimes they go bad." The mechanic didn't even check to see if the TPMS reset button had been reset. Nothing further was offered. I didn't know this made no sense with 27k miles on my car. When discussing replacing the sensor with my local mechanic he encouraged me to return to Bob Summeral Tire and Service in Hyde Park Plaza and explain what happened. I won't be returning to Bob Summeral and Service: 1.) The manager didn't know about TPMS batteries. My local mechanic said they usually last until 70,000 miles and they are more ofter broken when new tires are put on since I only have 27k miles. 2.) If they were trained well the mechanic should've looked to see if the reset button had been used and after that looked further into the problem. I had just had new tires put on there. 3.) Deceptive business practices! Go anywhere else. I took my car in due to the front tires having issues going flat (not due to seasonality) and Bob Sumerel claimed to have cleaned them. They did not report any other issues with the tires. My tires almost immediately had the same issues after I took my car home, including one tire going flat within a month. I take the car back and am then told that multiple tires need to be replaced due to dry rot issues, corrosion issues, a dark spot from a bad repair, and low tread....all of this changed in a month?! Not a word then. Meanwhile, Larry is lectures me on being "abrasive" as I ask questions trying to understand how so much changed in a month, why I wasn't told anything then, and why 2015 tires were put on my car in 2017. I couldn't get answers on what Bob Sumerel policies are to any of this and was essentially gaslighted over the whole thing. Also, I couldn't get general time estimates on when my car would be ready over the course of these appointments and never got a call when my car was ready so I wasn't able to pick it up on time. I'm having a bad day...my car had a flat tire this morning, and I had no idea where to go because I'm new to Cincy. So I just took it to the nearest place...and i'm glad I did. They were able to take care of my flat in under an hour, even though I just drove up without an appointment in the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday. For the patch they were going to charge me $24, but they offered to cover the cost if I signed up for AAA. So I signed up for a year for $55, and because it is buy 1 get 1 free right now, my fiancé also got AAA for a year for free. So that's coverage for two people with AAA for $55, and I saved $24 on my tire. Great deal! I'm really glad I came to this place. And, in the future, they have discounted rates on things like oil changes for AAA members. And it's conveniently located in the Hyde Park Plaza so we just shopped and grabbed lunch while they worked on the car. I do wish it was a little nicer/cleaner inside, but I guess that's to be expected for a bar service place. Overall, a good experience in a not so good day. read more

Initially, I thought this place was great. I went in on a Friday afternoon at 5 with a tire that needed to be patched. They completed the work in less than 40 minutes, gave me my AAA discount and off I went. Then we noticed that they forgot to put the center piece back into the hubcap. So I went back on Monday to see if they had it. They didn't, but offered to order me another one. Went back Thursday to pick up the new part and it didn't match the other hubcaps. So, they had me drive to the dealer to get another one and they would reimburse me. So over to the dealer I went, then back to Bob Sumerel. They did credit me, and all was well again. Just a little frustrating to make 4 trips to this place to "fix" something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. My advice, take a quick walk around your car when you leave this place and make sure all the pieces are there! read more

LOVE! These guys are awesome, honest, and trustworthy. I had been told by a dealership and another mechanic that I needed a new drive axle. Thank god I was thorough and came to these guys for a third opinion. They put my car up on the lift (without an appointment), took me into the shop, and showed me the axles, why they're in good condition, what they would see if they were going bad, etc. They really made sure I understood what was going on. Not only that, but they had me get the paperwork from the dealership and tried to understand why I would have been misinformed, and made sure they weren't missing something that the dealership saw. These guys saved me over $1,000 in unnecessary repairs, and I will be taking my car to them from now on! read more

I had just driven more than 400 miles from the East Coast to Cincinnati when my car started giving off a burnt-rubber smell. My son-in-law recommended Bob Sumerel Tire & Service--and I'm so glad he did! Within a half-hour they brought my car into the service bay, popped the hood and discovered that the mechanics in Maryland had failed to put the oil cap back on after they changed the oil earlier in the week! I had Bob Sumerel's technician clean the engine to eliminate the bad odor and they topped off my oil since I had lost some. The problem was solved quickly and easily! Went there after calling last weekend about a simple tire rotation. They said they had time to do it. I was quoted $29.99 and waited an hour and a half and my car still sat outside. I asked about an ETA of how much longer and was told only that "an appointment came in". I then scheduled an appointment for the following Saturday. I arrived a little early and was told that their computers were down. I was then told that it would be 49.99 plus tax! I repeated that I was quoted $29.99, and the reply was only "our computers are down, so we called in and were told that's the price". Insanely incompetent and non caring. Goodbye. I was at the end of a very frustrating day of traveling when I realiized my brakes were not acting right on my car and then it just got worse where I could barely stop at all and my brake light came on. I called this shop because I had seen and heard of them in the area and they had a shop 1.2 miiles from my location. Larry answered the phone and he was very pleasant, helpful and accomodating and said they could take a look at them for me today. Do not go here unless you want to be ripped off. They are scam artists. I went in to get a tire leak fixed. My husband (whose family owned a service station which he worked for until graduating college and still fixes all our cars unless he doesn't have the tools to do so) checked out the tire and said it more than likely needed a censor. He checked the price online and it was roughly $50. I brought it to Bob Sumerel since we have gotten tires there for three of our cars. It was 3:15 today when I went there to see if they could fix it. He said it would be awhile since I did not have an appointment. I said that was fine, could I just make an appointment for Monday. "Oh no, can you come back in at 5:00 or tomorrow" he asked. I told him no because I live on the other side of town and I work close to this place that's why I came here. I said my husband would put air in it and it would be fine. He replied that I should not have my husband do the work on the weekend and that he will squeeze me in. I then pulled the car to the front of the garage as he told me too. He comes out sprays something on the tire to see where the leak was. I told him my husband did all that, too and he replied "I want to check to see if there is a small leak instead. He jacks the car up, takes the tire off and walks away. I am standing outside thinking he will be right back. 30 minutes pass and I am getting a little anxious because he has not told me anything. 10 minutes later I walk in to the shop and ask him politely to just put the tire back on the car bc I had to leave. He gave me the death stare for a solid minute and than started to yell and tell me that I showed up without an appointment, he squeezed me in and checked the tire and now I am telling him to put the tire back on? I said I need to go, my daughter was leaving for college and was waiting on me. At no point in time did he tell me what he was doing. So I didn't even know the tire was being worked on. I asked him if he had finished it and he said yes, he would balance it and put it back on. I felt like he was not trustworthy with my car at this point. I went in and they said the cost was $154. I was quite upset bc at no point in time did I give approval for that much to be done. I was not happy. I felt they took advantage because I am a woman. I went to talk to the guy who fixed the tire and he was angry and ready to start yelling at me again until he realized customers were nearby at which point he told me to get in the car and leave. I did not authorize that to be done at that cost. As I was backing out he was cussing me to another employee. Unprofessional and scam artists. Horrible service and Unprofessional! I went to get a new spare and got talk into by three new tires, whatever, It took over three hours and Deb was completely unhelpful and seemed lost the whole time. when I went to pay I considered signing up for their stupid synchrony service, but changed my mind and ended up paying for the whole thing while i was there since i didn't want to open a new credit card. Then I get the card and a bill for $275 dollars so I went to them to talk to them and they said they had issued a refund and charged the synchrony card which I hadn't even activated. I told them I was never given a refund and even showed them my bank statement which said that much, none of them knew anything and were like well I was given and I said no it wasn't, then the manager Tyler stepped in and said that i wasn't given the refund since my card wasn't there to be given a refund, which they contacted me all of 0 times to let me know, and he said he would handle it. Then a month later I get another letter saying I now owe a late fee for the no interest no payment card that they forced on me so I went in to talk to them about it and was told that Tyler, apparently only person that could help me, was out on vacation and would be back on monday, so I asked Deb to have him call me monday, well a whole week went by and he never contacted me and deb told me that even if he was here he couldn't help me so to figure it out myself with synchrony! I have to say that I had only used them once before ,to fix my brakes , and that was quite a expensive little adventure to the tune of $ 3600.00, the week after that I decided I would return and let them take another look at a steering issue I was having mind you the week before I assume that most brake work is done with a car on a lift right ? So I go and tell them that the steering is very stiff and I am having problems steering , up on the lift it goes, about 10 min later back comes a quote for a power steering pump and a new rack and pinion, really now, and the rack & pinion wasn't noticed when you had the car on the lift last week? No one dropped the car down to drive it today, how do you know I even knew what I was talking about ? This is my 3rd 4 Runner, I dislike dealers immensely and Bob, well you rate even higher than the dealer at this point, The quote they handed me was for a new alignment , which I had done the day before somewhere else, flushing the steering fluid , $90.00, are they kidding? . I remembered that some friends in Glendale , own a tire store that does Auto repair, off I went , I've known them since Frisches was in Montgomery and I was a carhop. $800.00 and a hug and welcome home, Kim, Dad says hi and I'm on my way. I live 200 miles away from Cincinnati, but often travel here for business. This is a place I nearly make a habit of going to if my maintenance is due. The place on Paxton and the place on Wunnenberg are two of the best locations you can go to. They don't try to make a deal out of something not wrong with your car, they don't try to sell you something that you don't need. They value your business and your concerns as a person. This is the way that most auto shops should be. This business is much better than many of it's competitors. I can say for sure that this place will have my business any time I'm in the area and need something done. Doug and the staff are amazing. read more

I went here yesterday for an oil change. They have a special right now (heard it on Pandora) for an oil change and tire rotation for $19.99. I checked out the reviews and I was honestly very skeptical based on what I read. I called ahead to ask about the deal and made an appointment, they had two available same day so that was nice. When I arrived I found out it would be an hour which I thought was long for an oil change. He said it was because of the tire rotation, which makes sense. I passed on the tire rotation as I just got new ones last week so I just got the oil change. It took about 30 minutes. The two guys who were at the front desk were pleasant enough. One seemed like he was ready to go home and the other, Jim, was very sweet and patient. I think this place is fine for an oil change especially for the price. They didn't try to up-sell me which I liked but also could be because I was very clear that all I wanted was a basic oil change. I would go back for the same service and price. read more

Update to my recent review.... I finally received a call back from a home office manager. Apparently my initial attempts to contact them fell through the cracks due to some staff changes. He was very apologetic for my experience. He made things right by compensating me for the key and fixing the valve stems in the other three tires. read more

I have been going here for several years for oil changes and have to say they are the best. They are always pleasant both on the phone and in person. They even remember my name when I come in to pick my car up which means that they really pay attention to their customers. They are always able to get me in within a couple of days too which is very convenient. I would recommend them to anyone!! read more
