Peter and the folks at Aabalat have always been professional, prompt, and provided good communication with respect to my orders.

But it's intriguing nonetheless, perhaps it's the name, as well as the table front and center with offerings of bottled wines at $25 or less a pop. As you linger a bit further curiosity takes hold and Damien the owner greets and explains how his selection of wines are organized, California wines in front and other worldly wines in the middle and back. Oh now I get it. I decided to get on the email list and receive messages about tastings at @vinagewines. It's a large space so the scale of events can accommodate many. With the success of his shop he has now launched a wine club, 4 bottles or 2 depending on what you're in the mood for and it's available monthly or quarterly. What's great about a wine shop offering a wine club is that it's not devoted to the same wine vintner over & over again, and it's local which you can scoot by and pick up your wines or have them shipped. Stop by, sign up on the emailing list and I'm sure Damien can recommend a few wines to try too.

The day I was there, the shop had a wine tasting and a record sale! There are also non-alcoholic options available for purchase. I'll surely be back!

I use self-checkout which often has a wait these days. The store has minimal customers. Prices are high, so I rely on their great membership deals. What I do love most about Raley's are the employees. Great people! Those who have been there for years know their customers. It feels like home. I appreciate that in a world that has become more and more anonymous.

Unfortunately the people are mostly kids that would rather be anywhere else and you can hear it in their voices as they are ringing you up. I could even forgive this as I know how hard it is to find good people in the current job pool. What I cannot forgive is all the rotten and long expired food. I have been tracking this over my last 3 visits and have found the same moldy tortillas, the same rotting meat that is growing more mold daily. Every Raisin Rice Pudding that I checked was expired by at least 2 weeks with some of them being expired by 6 weeks. This goes back to the staff that is hired. Nobody cares anymore, so the jobs that used to be done are ignored. For now, I am switching to Trader Joe's and Lucky. Maybe I will try again in a few months and see if anything has changed. Come on Raley's! Do better!
