Great place! They have quite an extensive menu of small plates. We didn't eat... because we had just eaten, but I could see this being a fantastic place to hang with friends, chill with some wine and some nice food. The guy running the place, I should have gotten his name, was nice as could be. Very friendly, very informative and not stuffy. Some wine folks are stuffy. Not here. We enjoyed a few glasses of wine and purchased a few bottles to go. If we lived in town I think this would be our hangout. The seating area is very comfy and inviting. When/if we come back to Petaluma, this is a place we will definitely come back to visit.

a glass of wine and a tray of glasses

Came here for the first time. Would be a good choice for someone who wants to watch a game and doesn't care too much about wine. I had a four wine flight of who knows what wine. The wine is listed by type of wine and region grown, not winery. The wine bar tender did not know much about them. I tried 4 different wines and did not finish any of them. Picture attached Is how much wine I left Unfinished. One tasted like vinegar, and had been open for too long. It looks like their wine bottle selection has some decent wines to choose but I would not recommend the wines I tried tonight in their wine bar selection. We love wine and with so much great wine in Sonoma county, was disappointed.

They served their sparkling brut Rose and plenty of Pinot Noir, all from Sonoma County, Sonoma Coastal, & Petaluma Gap appellation. One that stood out to us was the 2022 Dragons Back Pinot Noir. A classic tasty Pinot. They went all out and offered tasty bites that really enhanced their wines. They used to be in Healdsburg at Bacchus Landing a much larger location but not centrally located so moving to historical downtown Petaluma gives them an opportunity to attract a larger audience especially since their wines are sourced from the cooler Sonoma county region. What a fine job of remodeling the tasting room. I don't know how they did it but somehow the place seems wider and larger than the previous tasting room at this location. They opened the back with some large gathering tables and their vast selection of records is housed in the back as well. They added some small tables throughout the space. It's easy to maneuver. They also allow guests to bring food inside, so you can sip, sit, nosh & listen to some tunes. There are plenty of eateries around so it's any easy stop. As I write this review I'm reminiscing how well their Sparkling Brut Rose and Dragons Back Pinot Noir went so well with a prosciutto sandwich they offered at their grand opening. A great match, and good representation of Sonoma Coast, Petaluma Gap wines.

The service is consistently great--friendly, attentive, and never overbearing. The wine selection is fantastic and really well curated. They also sometimes project old movies on the wall, which adds a really fun, laid-back vibe and makes the whole experience even more memorable. It was filled with white beans, veggies, and so flavorful. I don't remember the exact name of it but I still think about how good it was. It literally was the best soup I've ever had! They have a great food menu in general. The vibe of the place is upbeat and chill at the same time. Besides being beautiful with wine as decor, it's a cozy feel with groups and couples all enjoying themselves. It's an upscale look but you feel like you are at a friend's house. So far we have tried a few different dishes. For appetizers, we had PÂTÉ EN CROÛTE AUX CHAMPIGNONS D'HIVER and ESCARGOTS AND MARROW BONE. My husband was a huge fan of the marrow bone. He said it was rich in flavor and had a buttery/creamy texture. For entrees, my husband ordered the WAGYU STEAK FRITES BEARNAISE and I got the Moules-frites featuring steamed mussels served with French fries. The Wagyu steak was slightly more cooked than we would have preferred, but other than that, it was juicy and seasoned well. My Moules-frites were AMAZING! The mussels were sweet, tender, and perfectly cooked, and the broth they were served in was absolutely out of this world. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Plus, we got some Della Fattoria bread with our meal, which is always a nice touch. For desserts, we tried: CHOCOLATE FONDANT - Brigitte Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream: a perfect balance between rich chocolate and sweet, salty caramel. PISTACHIO TIRAMISU TABLE SIDE was the best! It was incredibly creamy, with a rich mascarpone filling and a wonderful pistachio flavor. And ILE FLOTTANTE (FLOATING ISLAND): the meringue practically melted in my mouth. It was light, creamy, sweet, and had a salty note that made it perfectly balanced. The service is incredible. Every single employee is welcoming, kind, smiling, and attentive. The owner is always nearby, making sure everything is running smoothly and taking the time to greet and check on guests. The restaurant is pretty small, so I would definitely advise you to make a reservation. It gets packed really quickly, and we have seen multiple parties waiting outside for the next available table. The parking lot is also on the smaller side, so one of the times we were here, we had to park up the street. I would 100% recommend this restaurant. The service was outstanding from start to finish, but what really impressed me was seeing Chef/Owner Tony Najiola actively overseeing every aspect of the operation. He visited tables, checked on guests, and was clearly involved in every detail of the dining experience. That's something you rarely see anymore, especially from a restaurant owner who has been doing this for more than two decades, and it deserves to be applauded. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The shoestring zucchini was a great starter, the lobster risotto was rich and perfectly prepared, and the Testarossa pizza was absolutely outstanding. Pairing it all with a Pliny the Elder made for a perfect Sonoma County dinner. Central Market isn't just a great restaurant, it's the kind of place that reminds you why locally owned restaurants matter. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Petaluma.

This review reflects my experience with the restaurant's gift card process and, more specifically,…read morethe lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability from owner Tony Najiola over the course of several months. This review is not a reflection of the restaurant's food, service, or dining experience. In November 2025 I purchased a $150 gift card through Central Market's website via Toast. The gift card was never received. I first reached out in February 2026 to inquire about the missing gift card. Tony responded the following day suggesting that I may have been scammed. After I clarified that the purchase was made directly through Central Market's website, he acknowledged that he had misunderstood, stated that this was a known issue, and told me he would contact Toast to investigate. March 2026: A month passed with no update whatsoever. I called the restaurant and spoke with Tony directly. He told me that I would need to contact Toast myself--a completely different answer from what had previously been discussed. April 2026: I informed Tony via email that Toast's customer service system specifically states that support is intended for restaurant businesses, not customers. I followed up again by email on 4/30 asking if he had received my message and whether there was any update. I have received no response since. What is most disappointing is the lack of clarity and consistency throughout this process. At various points, I was told I may have been scammed, then told it was a known issue that would be investigated, and finally told to resolve it myself through a company that does not provide support to customers in this situation. Not once was there a proactive update, clear explanation, or meaningful attempt to resolve the issue. More than five months after paying $150, I still do not have the gift card (which was intended as a Christmas present for a close friend), a refund, or even the courtesy of a response to my follow-up emails. When a business takes a customer's money, there should be some level of accountability when something goes wrong. At this point, I can only conclude that customer service is not a priority. The complete lack of communication and follow-through has left me feeling that my concerns--and my business--simply do not matter. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others against purchasing gift cards through their website.
