After passing on several wineries that wanted to charge us $25-40 each to TASTE their wine before we even knew if we would like them, we stopped at Wilibees to buy a bottle of wine instead. Wanting a nice Zin, a bottle of Seghesio was suggested, as a wine far better than its $20 price point. As a huge Zin fan I can confirm this was correct. They also do wine tastings for $5, which gets donated to a local charity. That is stand-up. We will make time to try it the next time we come to Petaluma. read more

Formerly Lakeville Liquors, this place has gotten a lot better with its new owners. They're three guys that are all pretty much there all the time. They are very friendly and helpful, unlike a lot of convenience/ liquor store staff, likely because they have pride of ownership. I am most impressed with their HUGE selection of beers. Seriously, they have almost any kind of beer you can imagine. I think they have 6 or 7 different choices from Lost Coast Brewery (Tangerine Wheat, Great White, Downtown Brown, etc.), and many other "boutique" brands I like (or whatever you want to call the non-Coors/ Budweiser brands). They also have the biggest selection of beer by the bottle (16, 22, 40oz) that I've ever seen. For the non-alcohol drinkers I'm also really impressed with their selection of teas (including kombucha), juices, etc. instead of the standard soda and more soda approach. But best of all... they are totally open to suggestions and even ASK YOU out of the blue if you were looking for something you didn't find. What a concept- they want to know what their customers want them to carry. We have lift off! They've got all the other stuff a typical liquor store/ corner market would have, but they definitely to go the extra mile with selection and customer service. I would highly recommend this place, and I love supporting these guys instead of some huge chain with Mr. Grumpy Pants behind the counter. read more

I hate cheating on my liquor store close to home in Concord, but if we're in Petaluma I love stopping here for the great selection and friendly service. Our last stop in was for a couple bottles of wine to take out to Bodega Bay. We didn't need anything fancy, but they have a wonderful selection of both less expensive bottles, and nicer ones. They even had a box of wine that was on sale. I grabbed one tasty white wine from there (only $2.99!) and a nicer bottle of red. Really enjoyed both. As we checked out at the counter the man working quizzed us on the song playing - we didn't know who the musician was, but he gave us a consolation prize anyhow. How fun! Sunny, G and Siri are 3 of my favorite people in the alcohol beverage industry. First, where else can you go to a liquor store and taste top notch wines on Thursdays with someone who has the incredible knowledge of Siri? Second, they pair with local chefs and have food/booze pairings. We attended the recent Scotch Pairing, and all I can say is WOW. Way to knock it out of the park. Third, Thier prices are great - and I mean great. Everything here is well priced and competitive with the local grocery stores, drug stores, and other liquor stores. Fourth, thier selection: Siri chooses wines from all over the world, and although she has limited floor space, she utilizes that space well with some really amazing wines, and many of those wines are amazing quality and a good value. Their whiskey selection is another favorite of ours. Always something new and different to try. Their beer selection is excellent too, local beer? check. Other small breweries? Check. This isn't just an IPA house, no no. They have beers for every palate. Fifth, service. If they don't have it, they can usually find it. If you don't know about it, they will educate you, you can walk in there and say - hey! I'm on my way to a party, I don't know what they are serving, I don't know if they are even 'wine people' but I want to bring 2 bottles, and this is my budget.... and they will fix you up with some amazing wines, and they do it with a great personal and professional experience. I've been looked at like I don't know what I'm talking about and tonight's rude interaction was the last straw. Purchased 3 bottles of good tequila for a tasting with friends. The young clerk asked if I wanted a bag. "Sure," I said. He then put the bottles in one of their cheap bags. You guessed it. When I got home, the bag ripped and a $50 bottle of Tequila fell to the ground. When I went back to complain, the clerk called the owner, "Mr. Gee." Mr. Gee, guess he doesn't want people to know his real name; or maybe because his first thought was, "Gee, how can I make sure this customer never comes back?" The clerk relayed Mr. Gee's comment, "You walked out of the store [with our shitty bag], it's your problem now." People in a grocery store know about triple bagging, but this was above the clerk's pay grade, and Mr. Gee is too cheap to make sure the products he sells go out the door safely. There are other stores with a better selection, better prices, clerks who know how to bag booze, and store owners who care about their customers. Mr. Gee's philosophy: Out of sight, out of mind. This liquor store is the best-kept secret in Petaluma. They have a very good selection of beers and wine. I'm not a wine guy, but my neighbor is an over-the-top wine guy, and he was very impressed with their selection. I am a beer guy, and I love barrel-aged sours and other BA beers. When I first entered this store, I was blown away by the selection--not only the breadth of beers that they offer, but they also offer rare beers that you can't find anywhere else in Petaluma, let alone Sonoma County. Their staff is friendly and very helpful, and their prices are reasonable. This is the first "liquor" store that I've entered, where the "clerk" who helped me mentioned that they don't store brett-fermented beers in the cooler, because brett doesn't grow well in cool temperatures. In short, they know their stuff, and their selection shows it. This is definitely now my go-to store for all things beer. read more

First time here. Initial impressions are great. Truly fantastic selection of craft beers including some bottles discontinued this year. So some pretty rare finds. Fantastic. However... First strike: Suspiciously following me around the store and asking me where I'm from. Second Strike: When I pay for my bottles the guy starts to give me back my credit card but then holds on to it with an iron grip and won;t let me take it back until he sees it's cleared. Dude... either wait for it to be approved and then give it back, or just trust your clients. It's kind of offensive to do what you did. Third Strike: Had to ask for my receipt. When I check it, it doesn't have the 15% discount that the various signs around the store say you'll get for assembling your own 6-pack under a certain value. Ask the attendant and he tells me that only applies to certain bottles in certain fridges, it's not store wide. Don't think the signs said that. Kind of misleading. So, I'd actually give them 5 stars for the truly wonderful craft beer selection, but I'd give customer service 1 star from my one visit experience. Overall I have to downgrade it to an averaged 3 stars at best. Won't be coming back anytime soon, sorry. Three strikes and they're out in my book. There are so many other great craft beer shops around the bay area who don't treat me with distrust or mislead me with their signage. I'll take my repeat business to them instead - thank you. read more

Wonderful place, huge selection, great people, and right on my way to downtown. They have wine tasting on Thursday and 100% of the proceeds go to Partners for Sustainable Pollination (http://pfspbees.org/). I just happened to hear about how billions of bees were dying because of chemicals sprayed on crops and GMO foods. The bees are responsible for about 1/3 (if not more) of all the food that we eat. Wow. I expected this to be the average corner liquor store and boy, was I wrong. First and foremost, the customer service is truly excellent. We were steered to a bottle of whiskey that outdid all former candidates for "best ever old fashioned." They have all your old favorites but an amazing selection of artisan, local and unusual items, too. I could have dropped a ton of money in here and only through extreme exertion of self-control did I preserve my rent money for the month. I am not even a drinker but the idea of these gorgeous, exciting selections made me giddy. I didn't get a wine recommendation so I don't have a sense of that but they appear to have a lovely selection. Stop! Pull into the parking lot off Lakeview Street just south of Washington Street in Petaluma!! Walk in and behold the BEST selection of fine spirits in this part of Marin County!!! I was on the hunt for a bottle of an artisan vodka that I tasted in a Healdsburg restaurant: Charbays Meyer Lemon Vodka. This vodka is not like other flavoured vodkas, its made from ONLY the best Meyer lemons, skins and fruit, and Charbays best vodka. It is to die for if you appreciate Meyer lemons and the finest vodkas. When I contacted the distillery, the gracious PR lady informed me that outside of the Napa Valley, they only shipped to Willibees. I can see why--- only the best of the best spirits in this establishment! The gentleman manning the till was impressively knowledgable and very humorous. I left the store with a smile, my vodka, and two other spirits I disovered they stocked also. IF you enjoy fine spirits and are into creating cocktails that wow your guests, you NEED to visit Wilibees! read more

What a cool place! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this liquor store running late to a party because it has got to be the best in town. Found out they carry my favorite beer (Pliny the Elder) and have a build your own six pack. You can go in and pick 6 different beers and get charged for an average priced 6 pack.
