Aahaar is an excellent restaurant for South Indian food. It's some of the best Indian food in the Seattle area. We came in for lunch and got the Fried Fish, Mutton Varuthakari, Parotta, Iddiyappam, Dahi Sev Poori, two desserts, and a Chicken Biryani to take home. Everything was delicious -- the curry was excellent, with flavorful mutton and plenty of spice. The fish was especially delicious: crispy, spicy, and juicy, and probably the star of the meal. The Sev Poori was fun too, and the Parotta and Iddiyappam were quite good as well. The desserts were lovely. The Chakka Pradhaman was great, with the jackfruit flavor present but not overpowering, and the gulab jamun was nice as well. The biryani was also amazing. It's a very wholesome biryani and it hits a particular spot for us Malayalis (the cashews and the small grain rice are a part of that), and will keep us coming back many more times. Everything was top notch, and you could sense an attention to detail that separates Aahaar from many other restaurants. Was on the look out for an onam Sadhya. A set of rice and side dishes that is prepared to celebrate the harvest festival. The place was pretty packed each time I visited. Ambiance is good too. That said- reg this visit - although the Sadhya offered 20 items, I felt that it was at best a good try of the real deal but lacked in so many ways. I don't even remember how my husband and I stumbled upon this place, but we're so glad that we did. I had heard of dosas before and I was excited to try them. We love the vegetable pakoras and the dosas with cheese. We live over an hour away and we'll drive here for a treat. There is usually a wait because the restaurant is quite small. I have heard raving reviews about Aahaar from many of my friends and colleagues. It was a long due for us to try this place. Finally it happened when we went to the Snoqualmie falls with the extended family. We stopped by for lunch on a sunny day. There were street side parking but we parked behind the restaurant which was more convenient. This place was moderately busy by the time we walked in. Received by some smiling faces. They combined couple of tables to accommodate all of us. I have been told that this place offers authentic Kerala food. But the menu said a different story. There are a few Kerala dishes, but majority are South Indian food. We ordered Tikka Wings as appetizer. Ordered Bisibelebath, Chicken Biriyani, Parotta and Cashew Chicken curry. Staffs were very friendly and engaging. Average wait time for the food was around 10 minutes. Really liked the Tikka Wings - the sauce on that wings stood out. Very flavorful and a little spicy. Bisibelebath was quite Ok. Expected the Kerala flavor but the Chicken Biriyani really lacked it. Cashew Chicken curry was delicious. Good combination with Parotta. Served white rice also on the side. Ordered Mango Lassi and Gulab Jamun for dessert. Both were really good. Mixed opinion about the food. Definitely not the Kerala food. Aahaar is a family favorite place! I have gone with my family many times and our fav dish by far is the Kerala Fried Fish. It is so amazing tasty and addictive. Perfect place to dine in on a Sunday. Its an amazing restaurant and never disappoints. They serve complimentary rasam which is my favourite dish at the restaurant. Apart from this I love the kara kara masala dosa and egg curry! They also have some amazing starters that I recommend trying. A quaint little Indian place inside a shopping center that surprised us with delicious flavor and different Indian options. We had dosa which was delicious. We had the CHEESE MASALA DOSA. I would love to come and try another option as well. We also had butter chicken. A lot of sauce and bold flavors. Our only down side was the chicken was a little over cooked and we wished we had gotten paneer. But over all it was great and if we are in the area again we will return. I can't give it a five stars though because The music was odd. They played loud chanting music which gave an eerie vibe. I couldn't understand it, but my gut tells me that it was religious which dampened my mood since that chanting is not my religion. They also charged me for two plates instead of one. The interiors resemble a small eatery with tables on either sides. But, don't go by size as the flavors will transport back to the streets of southern India. The Sambar to the freshness of the chutney to the sweetness of the badam halwa were amazing. The service was fast as well. In fact, we moved to the other side of the region and took a 50 minute drive each way just to enjoy a nice lunch. My favorite Indian restaurant in Washington state. The staff is super friendly. Nice restaurant tucked in the Snoqualmie town. Great mix of South Indian cuisine with some other good curries. We ordered karra dosa, cheese masala dosa, aahar rolls and chicken chetinaad, which were all great. Somehow seemed like staff was in a hurry to empty the tables, which was a little uncomfortable but understandable to an extent. They do get very busy, so plan ahead of time! This place is pretty compact but has delicious food. It's clean and very few tables. Food especially fish and chicken dishes is what I like. Their Malabar paratha, nilgiri chicken are always tasty. Amrravathi chicken is delicious but I personally find is very filling. The complementary rasam is so flavorful to start it. This I place is extremely crowded on weekends. I went on a Friday evening of the long weekend and the wait was just 5 minutes. It's better to plan ahead and go here. They don't take reservations mostly. read more

What can I say? I have been coming here for 10 years, I must have made 100s of visits during this time. In fact, I moved into the neighborhood so I could come here more often. Just kidding, or am I? ;-) The prices have doubled since 10 years ago, but that is to be expected, but the quality of food and service has been consistent throughout the years. Spinach Masala Dosa is still a favorite, I order it almost every time. Their complimentary rasam at the beginning of a meal is a nice touch. I visited last week and ordered Lamb Rogan Josh and Cashew Chicken Curry, both were delicious and very different curries as expected. You could taste the cashew in the chicken gravy. I don't like their naan as much as some other places but it's decent. The rice is complimentary with entrees and always flavorful. Since I live close, I go on weekdays now as I don't want to fight the crowds on weekends. They get fairly busy on weekdays too but there is almost never a wait. They've really made the small rail car type space work with a decent ambience. I'm just glad there is a wonderful Indian food option, close to me. In fact, I have a theory, that the thousands of Indians who live in Snoqualmie first visited due to this restaurant (and the Falls, of course!) and then decided it was a wonderful place to raise their family. So I am updating my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I hardly ever give this rating, but 10 years of solid good meals deserves it. read more

I'll highlight the good first: - The Dosa - just get it. It is SO SO SO good. I got the spinach one and the potato and spinach filling was just perfection. The flavors, the texture, omg everything. I decided to eat the middle by itself but then use the rest of the dosa as bread for the other entree I ordered. - Cashew Chicken Korman - to die for. It was flavorful, smooth curry, tender - oh so tender - chicken.... everything about this was perfect. I dipped the dosa in the sauce and I was in heaven! - Badam Halwa - the almond pudding dessert. So unique, so delicious. If you love almomds, get this. It reminded me of marzipan and it was just so sweet and yummy and warm. I ended up getting this to go because I was stuffed from my dinner. Glad I did not pass this up! Would've easily been 5 stars had it not been for the soggy biryani (it was the only disappointment of the meal so I would not recommend - Can't tell if it was a one off thing but that's just the way they make it but.... it was offputting - almost like it was made with fresh cooked rice which retained so much moisture - as bad as soggy fried rice). The other thing that was a "meh" for me was service. My partner and I were literally the only people dining in and the service was slow and spotty. Water took a while to get there, almost didn't think it was ever going to come, lack of checking in, and when the waiter came, I felt like we were being a hinderance being there (like, he spilled the soup on the table without a word, and then he would casually walk over and put something else on the table once in a while without a word) - it's fine, the food spoke for itself. I'll definitely come back for the korma and the dosas. If you've never had Dosas, get it! It's rare to find a place that has Dosas and other stuff so take full advantage!! read more

I also tried their egg kurma with Malabar parotta, which was absolutely delicious--one of the best egg curries I've ever tasted. Expect some wait on weekends. We had to wait half an hour on Sunday for lunch but we had preordered which accelerated the service when we got seated. Before we took our seats, the complementary rasam and the uddina (medhu) vada were served. The food is excellent here. I recommend the Aahar special dosa rolls and Kerala fried fish. The Malabar paratha and cashew veggie korma were also good. I really enjoyed the Kara dosa. - Malabar parotta and veg korma my favorite . Really good depth of favors with coconut and spices in the korma -it was a little on the sweet side which wasn't a preference for some members of my group but I really liked it . The korma comes with a side of white rice. I wish they would serve it with parotta instead of rice. - Vegetarian biryani - the only menu item that I was disappointed by. The portion size was good but It had no biryani flavor, was full of potatoes and was more like a veg pulao. What a great gem in Snoqualmie! This place was recommended by friends a few years ago and it was always so busy that we had little luck with getting tables. We finally had a chance to get a table and I must say the food is worth the wait! We were served rasam to start with, after which we ordered the Kerala fried fish, chicken chettinad, Malabar parotta, masala dosa. Everything was very flavorful and authentic. Well one of the only positives about quarantine during COVID is our weekly take out night the husband and I instituted to help support our local restaurants during this time. This week was his turn to pick and it's no surprise he voted Indian food, his most favorite cuisine. This guy is bonkers over a good tikka masala, turns to butter for butter chicken, and naan apparates in his presence. They offer delivery to North Bend for only 5 dollars and free delivery in the Snoqualmie region, what a deal! We ordered butter chicken obviously, garlic chicken, paneer butter masala, and an avocado chicken..avocados in curry?! O. M. G. guys. They also had gluten free papadums for my crunching pleasure. They arrived relatively close to the time they estimated and the woman doing the delivery was friendly as she handed over our aromatic package. With our house already wafting the delicious smells we inspected our nicely packaged items to find that our order was perfect. They were generous with rice and everything was spot on delicious. With this being so close and convenient to us, I am seeing many more nights of happy curry filled tummies in our future. read more

I think they make their own ketchup (it was less sweet, fresh and loved it). The coconut and green chutney were tasty. Rasam was served as complementary. Though it was a little sweeter to my liking, it was good to drink. Lemon pickle was very tasty. It was not a traditional bisibelabath but more of a Sambar rice but a very good one. The biriyani was more of a pulao. Mild spice level with vegetables and very tasty. Option to add paneer would have been nice. Service was super quick even though the restaurant was full on a Friday afternoon. If you like Kathakali in Kirkland where we go often (this is the mother restaurant), you will love this place. read more
