They hadn't been open long for that day so there was only one table being served and maybe 2 takeout orders. I got there too early, but the employee was lovely to chat with so I really didn't mind. I went with the tandoori jackfruit. I don't recall ever seeing something like it so I just had to try it! Overall it was really, really good on its own and even better with the sauce they included. Most of the indian food in the US has a flavor more prevalent in southern India. Authentic North Indian food is somewhat uncommon. We ordered dhaba style dal tadka, veg biryani, and lassuni paneer, all with garlic naan. This is probably the best North Indian food I have ever eaten in the US, and I've tried the Indian food in a lot of the major cities in the states. Everything was just perfect. The flavors were balanced, spices on point, and each dish had a unique flavor. Even something as simple as the naan stood out. The food was so good that even after stuffing our stomachs we still wanted more and ordered soya chap (soy nuggets in a spiced onion gravy). As with the other dishes, it was perfect. I visited Angar Indian Kitchen on Saturday evening, May 10, 2025, and decided to dine in. While the dining area wasn't particularly busy, I noticed a steady stream of takeout orders coming in throughout the evening--a clear sign that the food has built a loyal following. For my meal, I ordered shikanji, pani puri (gol guppe), and Amritsari fish pakora--and let me tell you, the food genuinely exceeded my expectations. The pani puri was the absolute star of the evening. From the very first bite, I was taken straight back to the vibrant streets of Punjab, where street vendors serve gol guppe bursting with flavor. These were perfectly balanced--sweet, spicy, tangy--all in one bite. What truly made it unforgettable was the pani (flavored water). I've had pani puri at countless Indian restaurants across the U.S., but this was the most authentic I've ever tasted. The pani had such a deep, refreshing flavor--it was exactly like what you'd get back home. I honestly could've kept eating it nonstop. The Amritsari fish pakora had a lovely crisp exterior and tender, flaky fish inside. It was delicious, though I personally felt it could benefit from a touch more authentic flavor--maybe a sprinkle of shredded radish on the side would elevate it even further. As for the shikanji, it was the perfect companion--cool, citrusy, lightly spiced, and incredibly refreshing. The staff was polite and helpful, though nothing particularly stood out service-wise. Still, their warm and courteous attitude was appreciated. The space itself was clean and simply decorated with a welcoming vibe, though I did notice the bathroom could use a bit more attention. That said, what truly made this experience memorable was the food--flavorful, generously portioned, and reasonably priced. You can tell there's real heart in the cooking. This place has a ton of potential if they continue to maintain the taste and fine-tune small details like overall cleanliness. I'm definitely looking forward to returning to try more dishes from their menu. One thing to note is that King County food rating at the time of July 2024 was "Needs Improvement". Maybe they are already working on it. I found the food to be reasonably clean. Craving Indian food and saw this place close to home. Glad we checked it out, don't let its small storefront fool you. When you see people bringing their families and enjoying the food you know it's good. The seating area can accommodate groups. Service was fast and attentive. The food was delicious. Even though we might have gone a bit overboard with our order (we were seriously hungry), the flavors didn't let us down. I loved everything about this place. The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and really clean. It is on the smaller side about 10 or so tables. The customer service is outstanding. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door even though the restaurant was full and only had one server. He brought us a cold carafe of mint water and menus. After answering a few of my husband's questions, we ordered. He went with the Samosas and Pav Bhaji (which he dubbed the Indian food version of sloppy joes) They both were amazing! The Samosas were flakey, soft, and crispy all at the same time. The Pav Bhaji was a mild flavor profile with a hint of heat. (However my husband definitely needed the white people spicy level). I ordered the chicken biryani. When asked about the spicy level I asked for NOT white people hot as I do like spicy foods. I should have phrased it differently because he heard white people hot and I got absolutely no spicy. So I can attest that they can customize their dishes to fit all flavor profiles. He was so apologetic about the level of spice, but I insisted it was not problem at all (because it wasn't). I love spicy foods but I throughly enjoy spices. Their dishes are thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. He brought me a Gajar ka halwa (almost a carrot pudding) because he still felt bad about the mix up. Which it is still not a problem. This was an amazing dish. It was sweet and warm. With hints of cardamom, rose water, and ghee. I would definitely order it on my own. Everything about this experience was so pleasant. The whole staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is thoughtfully prepared, and the restaurant is clean. All and all of I'm in the area (I live an hour away) this is where I am going. I've been to this restaurant 3 times prior to this review. Today I received very poorest service. I ordered a lamb entree, paid for it but they gave me chicken instead. Apparently, the host took down my order incorrectly. I asked them nicely if they would correct my order. The cook told me it would only take 5 minutes. I waited patiently as they continued to cook (I counted) six other orders for the other customers who had arrived after me. About 20 minutes had passed, my replacement order still had not been started yet. The waitress kept trying to make lame excuses for why it was taking so long. I can see exactly what the cooks are doing from the waiting area. So, I just gave up, took the incorrect chicken order and left. The cook did not prioritize correcting their mistake on my order. At the time, I was the only non-East Indian customer in the restaurant. I've always wondered why this was. There's obvious favoritism towards their own community. I've never felt so angry and disrespected before. For this reason, I will not be returning to this establishment. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant. read more

This is the Indian restaurant for Indian people. I have been to several Indian places in the Seattle area and this place beats every one of them. If I could make the drive down here, I would be a regular at this place. We got the puchka, paneer chilly and fried rice (from the kolkata style Chinese section) along with mango lassi for dessert. Everything was of a super-high standard. The puris for the puchka/pani-puri were made in-house and very fresh. The paneer chilli was the best I have had in the US, including places I have been to on the east coast. I hope this place gets enough business to sustain the high bar they have set for Indian food in the Seattle area.
