We took notice of its soft opening on January 31, 2020, as we were just next door at the Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park while out on our daily walk. We returned on February 7th to watch its Grand Opening ceremony. Secondly, I wondered about how this off-leash dog park would accommodate different sized dogs and energy levels (much like how the Mother Waldron Park separates children's' activities from the older junior ages and adults) since this dog park is nearly 8,000 square foot swath of land in between Mother Waldron Park's basketball courts and the walkway by Fisher Hawaii on Pohukaina Street. The rectangular-shaped dog park doesn't have a water fountain or separate areas for small or large dogs. Although there are signs posted with rules for the safety of your furry friend or family member and owner and hours of operation along the chain link fence entrance. There should be poop bags available so dog owners should make sure to pick up after their dog. If there's none, I would think that most responsible dog owners carry spare plastic bags. I hope to see more dogs and their human parents spending more time outdoors even during these difficult COVID times. Social distancing between humans is encouraged and maybe even between the furry friends (just in case of possible animal transmission). Maybe we'll see you there as we pass by or stop to vicariously enjoy watching the dogs frolic in this park.

Located alongside a walking path, this is a great area to walk and then have your dog play with other dogs. There are two sides, for small dogs and big dogs. Secured with a double gate so no one accidently gets out. There even is a gate in the middle so you can switch sides if your dog doesn't vibe with either side. There's a few benches to sit at while your pup plays around, and it's a great way to chat with other dog owners in the community. This is a more simple dog park, there isn't a water fountain for the dogs -- so be sure to bring a bottle + bowl for your dog. What really makes this dog park is it's proximity to the canal, the water really does make the ambiance so much nicer.

The park was thoughtfully designed, so it enhances the beauty of the neighborhood while giving dogs something interesting to do. My dogs especially love running around the boulders because they're situated like an obstacle course (my dogs are big, so we visit the 'big dog' side of the park.) This park has brought together the community in such a positive way, and I'm really grateful it's here!

Technically this is a "private park" for Ohana of the Military communities. But I dont think its really enforced. There is NO private parking lot, parking is street parking. There is a rubbish can. Most of the dog owners are friendly and attentive, which creates a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. It's clear why this park is such a favorite for locals. That said, cleanliness is an area that could really use improvement. On several visits, there has been noticeable dog waste left behind, along with overflowing or poorly maintained trash areas. This takes away from an otherwise great experience and can be unpleasant for both dogs and owners. With more consistent cleaning and better enforcement of waste pickup, this park could easily be one of the best dog parks around. The playground area rope/bridge area, standard climb and play area, a swing, merry go round, and even a glove with rotating handle the plays music. The also added tables and a small work out area. If you haven't been here in sometime, bring your kids, they'll love it. This place does get PACKED, and even late into the night haha. Just as an example, it's a Sunday morning and there are some 25+ kids and almost equal 20+ parents here at the moment. What other just "park" with no event do you see that kind of crowd haha.

The day we visited with Hiapo he had two new friends to meet. I'd suggest taking your pups early in the morning or in the evening as there is no shade for them save for under the benches. Kiddie pool and water bowls looked clean and the space was very well maintained. We will definitely be visiting again.
