Have a 2008 Land Rover and my wife has a 2005 Honda CR-V both as getting older needed some repairs so several areas were worked on as like to keep my vehicles running as long as it makes sense before start getting nickeled and dimed on repairs and cost is not worth it. Sometimes parts take time or no longer are made or hard to find, but they were able to find and repair smoothly while communicating well. The prices they have are reasonable. It's not the dealership, but the quality to me was just as good if not better and not paying the dealership prices. Our vehicle runs smoothly now thanks to these guys troubleshooting. I met with the seller of my vehicle at Aaliyah's Auto Shop for a pre-inspection. During the inspection, the owner, Jesse, informed me that my vehicle had a "very small" water pump leak and that the coolant level was low. He stated that he topped off the coolant with fluid and showed my husband a picture; however, the picture he showed was only of the coolant, not of an actual water pump leak. At no point was I shown a picture or physical evidence of a leak itself. Due to the stress of the transaction and being surprised by this diagnosis--especially since I regularly maintain my vehicle every three months--I did not ask to personally see the alleged leak at that time. Jesse also stated that the vehicle needed new brake pads because they were due for replacement. A few days later, I contacted Jesse to request a photo of the water pump leak. He then informed me that he did not have any photo of a leak--only a photo of the coolant. He went on to say that the car was otherwise "perfect," drove great, and that the only issues were the need for new breaks and a new water pump. Because of these inconsistent statements, I took it upon myself to have the vehicle inspected at a Honda dealership while also completing an oil change. The certified Honda mechanics did not find any water pump or coolant leaks (please see attached video). Additionally, they confirmed that the brakes were at approximately 50% life remaining and did not require immediate replacement. Based on these findings, I am deeply concerned about the accuracy and integrity of the inspection performed at Aaliyah's Auto Shop. It appeared that unnecessary repairs were recommended without sufficient evidence. Jesse also emphasized that his shop was the cheapest in town and that he offers the best prices, which further raised concerns that the diagnosis may have been influenced by sales motives rather than factual mechanical issues. I believe this experience demonstrates a lack of transparency and reliability. We arrived in the area yesterday afternoon for a wedding, and our car's check engine light suddenly came on while it started idling badly. We drove to the wedding, and the ride was really rough. I was so worried that our car was going to die at any time, and I was very stressed out because if it did die, I didn't know how we would get back to the San Francisco Bay Area. While we were at the wedding, I researched online for auto repair shops in the Monterey area, when I ran across Aaliyah's Auto Repair. I called them, and I spoke to Jim who told me to come in the next morning... a Saturday morning... to get the car looked at. I was so fortunate that I found a shop that was open on Saturday! I arrived at the shop right when they opened that following morning, and Jim and Cody looked at our car right away. I brought my car in due to a check engine light which required a new oxygen sensor to be installed. I brought in a Walker oxygen sensor which I purchased at O'Reillys earlier that morning. Fast forward about 3 1/2 months -- everything was fine until the check engine light during a long road trip. I went to a different mechanic that is local to my area and they told me that the same oxygen sensor, which I had previously replaced a few months ago, was no good and needed to be replaced. I didn't think much of it given that parts can be defective/can go bad. They replaced it for me with an OEM. I also asked them to provide me with the original oxygen sensor (one with the issue) which they did since I was going to return it back to O'Reillys for a refund due to warranty since it has been only a few months. I immediately noticed that the original sensor was not Walker, but NTK. Furthermore the oxygen sensor was very old and worn out -- it was more like several years old. See two photos. Instead of using the new oxygen sensor that I had supplied, the mechanic had put it in a used one. I was really lost for words. When I took my car in, there was only one individual working at the shop (one mechanic) and the owner (Jesse) wasn't in yet. This is the mechanic that worked on my car. Jesse came into the shop as the work was nearing completion so I'm not even sure if he was aware of this. This issue has caused so much time, stress, and energy as I had to make multiple trips to get this resolved. Sure I'm upset that I threw $230 down the drain for parts and labor that didn't include the new part that I paid for and now I'm stuck with an old, useless part. However, I'm most upset and disappointed by the dishonesty and breaking a fundamental trust by the individual that worked on my vehicle. In general, I really support and admire small businesses that work hard and provide good customer support, I really don't like to write negative reviews especially for small businesses. Been taking my car for the past few years since I moved to the area. Mainly for oil change and maintenance and any other fixes that's needed along the side from wear and tear that happened when you use the car. This past several times, the service has been so inconsistent, they say they'll have the car ready in a certain time and when I check in with them it was never ready. I have been patient and understanding but when i recently got my oil changed and requested to do my transmitter fluid to be changed as well, they didn't even have the supply and told me it'll be ready first thing in the morning the next day. You know what happened? It wasn't ready when i called them to check up on the car at 10:30am saying they're gonna start the process now and will e done in an hour. Called an hour later, and said they just started to take care of my car, which is already 11:30 am. This is not "the car will be done in the first in the morning... smh I'm so done. Requested to not even bother doing that service anymore and picked up my car. Hint hint: my car is a 2017 Honda so it shouldn't be a hard car to deal with that takes more than 3 hours to do all the maintenance. Plus, there's an after story. When I drove the car after picking them up, my husband and I hear some rattling noises and feel vibrations when we pace our feet on the bottom of the car. Got worried there was something wrong, and we ended up taking the car to the dealership service center to check what's exactly going on. You know what was happening? The bottom of my car was not even screwed up properly! Like there was literally missing at least half the screws. On top of that, they over filled the oil in the car as well, and had to have that adjusted as well while getting my transmitter fluid taken care of since they weren't able to do it as "they didn't have the supplies for it" though I did mention that the code is showing and needs to be replaced when I called in to bring my car. I really loved how the owner was always generous and while he's there things were smooth always tries to communicate with me so I'd want to have a higher star rate for his sake but if he is out, I want to give it a negative 5 because of all the miscommunications all around the corner and they just have no sense of time. Like they think we don't need a car nor have lives that will require a functioning and take care of our day to day lives. Of course, if the car was literally broken and is a big project that will take days to have them fixed? Then I get it but it's literally oil change and transmitter fluid change, and tire rotation that does not need 2 days to have it be take care of... One more thing, when I had one of the older car fixed that I own as the breaks and whatever in there was having an issue, plus the battery needed a replacement and we literally got a dud and they never really was able to get it to help me in the eod as they either is so low on staff or just can't help with our request. They still says it's the transmitter issue for that car but I had them checked at elsewhere when the car shut down and had the sensor switched to a new one and was told everything looks good. No transmission issues and all what so ever. Like bro, this issue has started since we changed the battery with yall, and was happening within 2 months since the battery was changed. How is this possible that this is a transmission issue? Was recommended to drive it at least once a week, and did after the sensor was changed earlier this month and when we tried to drive again, the battery was dead and had to jump start AGAIN. Not just once but multiple times. Well, we can't think of anything else besides what is written that have changed so can't think of anything else that's going on with it now. We will have to take the car to elsewhere to have it taken care of I guess and some another few hundred to a few thousands of dollars I guess? In all seriousness, I am the person that calls ahead of time to always make sure if they have the space to take my car in to maintain and all, but this time for real is my last straw. Never coming back anymore. I'm done giving the benefit of the doubt and constantly giving another chance to this business anymore. It is sad that I have to leave this type of review and make this decision because the location of this place was so convenient for me and the value was good. Also I'm always a supporter for small businesses as I understand the struggle as I now have a business myself. Maybe in the near future, have a better sense of time for the customer as well as better structure with your scheduling and communications with your crews. Hope for the best. read more

I have been holding off on posting this review although I have thought about it often. I just don't like to burn small businesses. UNLESS THEY DESERVE IT. I was treated poorly, misdiagnosed, spent a small fortune on having to rent cars for work, walk and take the bus for over a month and other misfortunes all because of Jesse's and this shop's ignorance and disregard for customer service. I finally had to take matters into my own hands and purchase the Part for the transmission that they "could not find" or "was on backorder" for a month! No calls back for my multiple calls to the business for updates. Jim told me several time that conveniently Jesse had an emergency and had to leave or left town for some reason when I called. So after I got them the part needed and got proof of delivery I called them and Jesse said the part wasn't there and wasn't delivered. I did some more research and got a confirmation # from USPS that it was left in their parcel locker. I told him and he didn't call me back (of course) but when I called again he said he got it. DUH check your mailbox! I have let all of this go because that is the kind of person I am. But I have had issues since picking up my car from them which BTW sat on the public street corner for almost a month, was covered in black dust and never started for maintenance purposes. I know I drove by many times, but now I am having more problems because of this issue and have spoken to a few mechanics about this mess who set me straight and shake their heads in disbelief about the incompetence of this auto shop. DO NOT GO THERE. When I get some more energy to continue I will post complete details. I went to aaliyah's auto repair because people on Facebook recommended this place. My car had a check engine light but before going to Aaliyah's, I had gone to O'rielly's to get my check engine checked and they said it was my engine coolant thermostat. I called Aaliyah's auto about my check engine light and what I found out at O'rielly's, and they said I had to do a diagnostic check on my car because they were not sure what exactly could be the problem. I took my car in the next day and they had told me that they checked for leakage in my radiator but my car did not seem to leak. They told me that my car was fine and charged me 150$ for recommendations that my car needed. The next day my car still had problems of overcooling and I had called Aaliyah's to tell them about my car's symptoms. I took my car the next day at 9am however I was waiting because no one got there until 9:30. I left my car and they told me they were going to call me. At 2pm, I called them to ask for updates and they said they were checking my car. I went to the shop to pick up my car because I had not received a phone call and they were going to close. Again, they stated nothing was wrong with my car and they erased the check engine light. They said if my engine light came on again that it was going to be my Thermostat and could fix it for 220$. A couple days later my engine light came on. I knew I was not going back to Aaliyah's auto to get it fixed because I did not trust them to fix my car. read more

I'll start by saying, if you call you may not get a hold of anyone for a few minutes, but stay diligent. The staff here are very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely fair. They do great work and aren't going to over charge you for work repairs, or try to sell you repairs that aren't necessary. I live in Salinas where there are plenty of options for vehicle repair, but I'll take the 15-20 minute drive to Marina to have the staff at Aaliyah's service my vehicle every day of the week if needed. read more
