I went here for a full transmission service and coolant flush. They scheduled me the next week and I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up in the evening. They alerted me to things I should do very soon, ie. an oil change and tire nail fix. Luckily I knew about those things and already had an appointment at a tire store the next day, but it's nice to know they do a general quick inspection to make sure things are good. When I got back for the pickup the mechanic was test driving the vehicle, also a sign of a good mechanic shop. The bill was exactly what I was quoted and I was happy with the price. I feel like it was a good value for getting done what I could not do myself. I think some of us, like myself, have a mechanic friend, but I chose to go here because I wanted it done right and I trust they do it right. The car i took in for service was a family van and we need it to work right and to be reliable. I don't know if everyone feels like I do that these days you always have to fight to get things done right or be prepared for something wrong or to cost extra or whatever but this was simple. I was disappointed with what happened here. I told them over the phone that I had already had the problem diagnosed, the two NOX sensors needed fixing/replacing and when I picked it up, I was billed $160 for diagnosing a problem I had already had diagnosed. I had even offered to show them the photo of the scanner codes from the smog guy. So, $ for diagnosing and nothing fixed. Very disappointed as I was up against the regis deadline and needing it to pass smog. If I get a ticket before I can get it in to my shop in Paso Robles, I will seek reimbursement. I should seek a refund for running the darn codes scanner. The smog guy was kind enough to do it for free. read more

Michael was a great help to me! I heard a high pitch scraping noise while driving out of my work parking lot in Monterey and was too scared to get on the highway to get home. It would have been 30 minutes driving like that. Called up The Masters and brought my car in. He was super informative and very straight forward about what needed fixing (my brake pads were done for and the sensor was making the scraping noise) the cost was on the lower end of average charge for that type of replacement. Wonderful customer service and very helpful with letting me know the other things that he noticed about my vehicle. It wasn't within my budget to fix everything, which I made clear, he didn't try to push me to fix anything else at all and just let me know the time frame of which I should get them done to avoid disasters. I've always been afraid to take my car into shops from all the things I've heard about other auto repair shops in the area (shady and always looking to make more money off unnecessary "repairs"). I highly recommend this place! Mike is the best! Today he helped me solve a issue with a PC valve in my 2002 Mazda B3000 truck. I first went to another local auto repair shop and they sent me out to buy the part and told me to bring it back and they would install it. The part they told me to buy was not the right part and I had to return it, that was a big waste of my time. I had to duck tape the valve in order to drive it around trying to find a auto shop that would help me. Mike at The Masters, called around and found the part for me and put a clamp on the PC valve so I could drive it to another auto shop that could install the part. They don't work on my model of truck at, The Masters so Mike recommended good auto body shop that does and I now have an appointment to have the PC valve installed tomorrow. Mike didn't charge me any for all the time and effort! Above and beyond for sure! read more

I found these guys from Yelp and have been so impressed! Reading their reviews from other customers I just knew I had to take my car in to get a second opinion here! What a great idea that was! They helped me fix the problem at a cheaper rate than what I was quoted. I then had another problem and they went and diagnosed the problem for me and then told me to go directly to Toyota to have my car worked on Bc they were not 100% confident in doing that specific repair because they had never done it before but only read about it. So they hooked up their computer and diagnosed my car, allowed me to do some research for it and without paying a penny for the code they sent me to Toyota. I would give 5+ stars if it was possible. We were visiting Monterey from LA and had a problem with my Odyssey where driver side window glass slipped in the door. I was thinking to take to the nearest Honda dealer, but found Masters in Yelp. Even though I was a walk-in , Steve accommodated me and Wes fixed the glass temporarily at least for us to drive back. The most important detail, he charged me nothing for the service. Steve said he understands running into problems while on vacation and it was a minor job for them. Thanks Steve and Wes.
