Brought our van to AAMCO for a transmission change. This place was recommended to us by Roland at PEP BOYS which is an honest man. They did a free estimate first to see what was happening. It was confirmed it needed a replacement. They offered financing and it was a fast easy process. Juan worked with us and was truly and amazing experience. My car is running really strong, it's no longer stalling, jerking or acting up during a gear change. I'm truly satisfied and Juan listened to our concerns. My automatic transmission started having problems. When I stepped on the gas to accelerate from a complete stop the gears did not always shift smoothly and sometimes the gears would slip, my 2013 Ford Escape would stall, then suddenly the tranny would catch gear with a hard hit and lurch forward. You could hear and feel it, something was not working as it should. So I take my SUV to AAMCO in Lancaster for a diagnostic. the tech said he dropped the transmission and found metal filings in the oil pan and recommended a rebuild that ended up costing me 6k plus more with financing since I didn't have that amount of money sitting around like loose change. The warranty was for 18,000 miles or 1 year which ever came first. My SUV ran good without any problems but at 12 months and 20k miles later my transmission was having the same problem AGAIN. I go back to AMMCO and the same tech who rebuilt the transmission tells me, bring your car in tomorrow morning and I'll take a look at it. The next morning the tech tells me my warranty has expired because I put 20k miles on my SUV and the warranty was for 18k miles. However, for $1k he would drop the transmission to do a diagnostic. So $6k extended the life of my Ford Escape for 1 more year and 20k miles. I should of asked more questions when I made the deal like exactly what will 6k buy me. What will the rebuild include, what parts are going to be replaced and does he use OEM parts or other name brand parts known to be similar to OEM quality. I should have also asked him to give me all of the tranny parts that he removed and replaced and the packaging from the new parts.. otherwise I have no proof that I got what I paid for. For $6k I was expecting more than 1 year and 20k miles of life out of my Escape. In my opinion he either used parts of questionable quality to put more of my money in his pocket or it's just plain poor workmanship. I should have sold or junked the car and put the $6k to good use like a down payment on a new car. Lesson learned and a word of caution to others who are considering taking their car to AAMCO in Lancaster. And don't fall for the , "your transmissions oil pan was full of metal filings, I recommend a rebuild", because that same tech used that same line on my brother when he took my 2018 Chevy Cruze in for a diagnostic. Worse yet, my Chevy came back with the tachometer not working and my cars suspension making noises it wasn't making before AAMCO worked on it. I don't have anything good to say of the workmanship coming out of AAMCO in Lancaster. I have receipts and 2 cars, one nonfunctional and the other functioning poorly, as proof of the above. One last thing, a transmission does a lot of work, metal gears and parts moving and working at high speed, over time it's no surprise to find metal filings attached to the magnet at the bottom of the transmission's oil pan. That should not automatically mean your transmission is shot out and you require a rebuild unless it's larger size metal filings and pieces in quantity. Some so called transmission specialists are caught up in routine and just go by habit and the usual recommendation. They are not thinking about your specific problem because I gave the tech at AAMCO and at the Diamond Ford dealership the same info that my Diagnostic Code Reader was pulling up only one code P0750 which is transmission control solenoid A but I don't think they actually heard or processed what I told them since I got zero response from the info I offered and what I suggested since who am I ? Im just a no-nothing customer and they are the experienced auto specialists with years of experience. Common sense, thinking outside the box of habit and routine, and a customer's desire to save money by paying for only what is truly needed to get the car back to normal operating condition does not come into the picture in my opinion. My car's transmission went out and they have had it over a month with excuse after excuse

The customer service is woefully inadequate. Attempting to get someone to return your call is nearly impossible. It took more than 2 weeks to get a bid on the work, and another week for the work to be done. I spent over $4000 getting my transmission fixed, which was nearly as much as it would have cost me with the dealer. However, I didn't know this until I had already put down a $1000 deposit, and I had to haggle with them to get the cost under what the dealer had already quoted to me. Honestly, it was on me, I should have taken my car back to the dealer and just moved on from this place. 5 days after getting my car back, it began stalling out, a BRAND NEW problem. I took it back to them because of the warranty on their work, and they have now had the car more than 10 days and I still have no idea what is wrong. AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

The manager named juan of this establishment is very rude and condescending and will lie about anything to any real explanation of what Is wrong with the car. Leak in hose to radiator,clearly shown no other issues. Came here and after telling me my insurance won't pay for diagnosis of 340 the radiator thermostat needed replacement. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! This place is the worst. I brought my car in on a Wednesday morning, and didn't get it back until the following Monday afternoon. The original issue was the engine randomly stalling out and the transmission going into neutral. First they quoted me $110 for the diagnostic, but then later doubled that to $220, claiming some special "smoke" diagnosis was needed. Originally they said the codes revealed the MAF sensor was bad, along with the spark plug and injector for cylinder #1. Then they told me the engine is running cold and needs a new thermostat, and that might be giving them false code readings. After I took my car to a better shop today, the mechanic there said that makes no sense. These guys are either great con artists, or unbelievably incompetent. The only positive thing I can say about them is that they are very nice on the phone, but NEVER return your phone call like they promise. (Except for Joanne, she was a sweetheart.) And if you call them within 30 minutes of closing time, they simply don't answer their phone. I'll update this review after the legitimate mechanic at the new shop tells me what's actually wrong with my car. Update: Turns out it was a simple fix, completely separate from what AAMCO was telling me. Not only that, but the geniuses there didn't even flush out the coolant system properly, they just topped it off with a different type of antifreeze, which is a big no no. So the mechanic at the other shop corrected that, and now the car runs fine. He said it was ridiculous that the technicians at AAMCO didn't even check the fluid levels when they first inspected the car. That's just auto repair 101. After diagnosing, we were told the transmission needed to be rebuilt and was quoted $3800 over the phone with $1000 deposit to get started. We gladly paid the deposit. A week later we get told now the price would be over $3800 after the deposit we made. We negotiated and the price dropped and when we went to pick up our truck today the owner would not have it. The notes of the new price didn't get updated into the system so that meant it was his way or no way. Never have we been treated with so much disrespect and rudeness from an owner. Under new management, new managers name is Haroom, he is not very professional and lacks customer service not to mention he seems to be ripping off most of his customers and giving them all the same diagnosis "You need a transmission" and you need to pre pay $1,000 (which locks you into repairs) for me to pull out your transmission to further investigate the problem. I was in the waiting room with 4 other customers, all unhappy, all upset and feel that they received poor customer service and poor auto repair service. Some were upset about the terrible repair work and one lady was there to check on her car which had been there for over 2 months. As I write this my vehicle is still sitting in the parking lot at the AAMCO on Division in Lancaster. It has been there for several days supposedly done except for a 10 minute programming that must be done at the dealership. This has proven yet another task too tall for this facility to accomplish. I dropped my car here 24 days ago with the hope that a place that brands itself as transmission professionals could do a quality job fixing the transmission in my 2010 Mazda 3. After hearing from their guy Eddie about the issues with the transmission and agreeing to the several thousand dollar repair, I was given an estimate of 5 days for the car to be fixed. After 5 days I still had not heard anything from Eddie or anyone else. Being that it was the day before Thanksgiving I felt I would give them that, so I called Friday a few times and only ever got Eddie's voicemail. I called again the following Monday and spoke to someone saying they were still waiting for parts. I called again the next day and after dealing with someone who had trouble even locating information on my car (it turns out that neither he nor Eddie were even located at the facility in Lancaster, but instead in Lake Forest and had likely never even seen the car) he asked me to hold and returned saying that the car was finished and that it needed to just have a test drive and he would call me right back after. This did not happen, because as I learned in a call the next day with someone who actually worked at the Lancaster facility, the parts for my car still had not come in. After 13 days of being in the hands of transmission professionals and all of the repairs being paid for my car still sat waiting. Once again, it now stands at 24 days of my car being out of my hands despite thousands of dollars being paid to this facility. In that time I have made several phone calls and even a visit with nothing more than lies and excuses to show for it, while I have received a total of 3 calls from them. Two of which were from Eddie in Lake forest to tell me what was wrong and get payment to fix it. This I found out was because the owner of the Lancaster facility decided for some reason better to put communication with his customers in the hands of people who would never be personally accountable to them over 2 hours away. The attitude that seems to exist that I am somehow putting them out by needing my car back, that I should just be waiting calmly for their call nearly a month in is what is most infuriating. I came here seeking a professional experience and have been shown a complete lack of consideration. I wouldn't pay that much money to get a vehicle fixed if I was good with it being kept out of use for that long. There are a lot of choices out there for getting work done on your vehicle. I took my car here yesterday to have the transmission looked at. They had told me over the phone that they had looked at my car And found the problem with it. Then they told me they could not give me an estimate or what was wrong with the transmission over the phone that I had to speak with their manager. I show up today to get more information on my car. There is no manager! And one of the technicians told me they could not get my car out of park. (how do you not know how to put a car in drive!) So the car was never looked at. They basically lied to me over the phone and they had broke panels in my interior!! I'm consistently calling them asking for the manager but I'm getting no response or I'm getting the runaround please do not take your vehicle here. Brought my manual transmission vehicle here for an assessment because it was having what I believed to be clutch problems. They looked it over and told me I needed a new clutch and flywheel. I said yes to the work and then later they said it needed additional work which wasn't included in their initial check. Why you would look at the clutch hydraulic system when the. Customer is reporting clutch problems is beyond me. They said they changed the part but now my car has trouble going into reverse, the reverse lights are stuck on and when I asked about why my clutch fluid is black if they had to bleed it I was told that manual transmissions take gear oil and gear oil is black. I have zero confidence in anything they did and have to check everything. The one good news is that it does shift in the forward gears well. This was a very expensive lesson in not researching a place before I go there. read more

Came here recently to have my transmit job fixed... Obviously a ridiculously stressful time for me & my family who desperately needs our vehicle. We mostly spoke to the a woman named Joanne who was kind & empathetic to our situation. I think she even made me laugh a few times (certainly didn't think I'd be doing that!) it's also nice to speak to a woman who doesn't treat me like I'm a complete idiot for not knowing everything regarding cars! I appreciated the team's efforts & understood that if I wanted it done right (which I most certainly did) then it would take some time. It did. But my car runs wonderfully!! I feel like they were all honest with me about what NEEDED to get fixed vs what they could "pad" my bill with! I'll keep going here for my service needs & send my friends & family! Recently traveled to Lancaster and my cars transmission started to act weird. I took it in and met Ben. He was very helpful and welcomed me openly. Assured me the mechanics would take care of my car and try to keep the costs as low as possible. After a few hours they results were in, they found a sensor failed. Most other places would have probably tried to sell me an entire transmission, but these guys were honest and my repair was $225 ! I am very thankful and highly recommend anyone in the area, traveling or otherwise to use them. NOTE: They are not the same owners as the negative reviews of the past that I read. We took my Wife Rodeo down to this AAMCO Transmission after my wife talked to them on the phone and they talked her in to bringing the car to then for there $180.00 check they told her it could not be a complete Transmission over haul it could be something simple. I knew better but this where my wife want to bring it to the next day they told us it it is internal problem which I knew it was before it was worked on the car in the First place. They now told us it will cost $898.00 to tear it apart and tell us what wrong inside and if we did not want to go any farther with it at the time they will put the car back together and that would be it. After they tore the transmission apart they said it will cost another $2000.00 to fix the transmission my wife Okay ed it so they did the work. The car was to be ready to pick up at the end of the week but they had to pull it back apart the transmission don't work they just rebuilt for us. I told my wife that's why I wanted to bring into a shop yes I know how to do this kind of work but I didn't want to deal with it. When we picked up the car they told us the bill was another $2830.00 I asked them this includes the money I already paid for they said no that on top of what I already have paid on it. Then I found out they installed new front axles and some other things my wife already gave the Okay for I didn't like it but a deal is a deal and my wife already made it ( I had a very hard time bit ting my lip on this deal I knew they were ripping off my wife but a deal is a deal). Then they told us the car needed a new radiator and they said it will cost another $500.00 for them to do this I told them NO I do it my self then they try ed to give me some song and dance why it cost much to change the radiator out it took me $90.00 and 30 minutes of my time to change the radiator my self. The Shop told us the Check engine Light came on and they caused it by there own mechanic cause this the O2 he said was unplug ed by them I said okay they reset the cars CPU and we started going home no more 4 or 5 miles down the road the check engine light came on we call them and they told us to bring the car back to them and the ABS light also came on. We returned with the car a week latter when we had the extra time to get down there and they now are saying they didn't cause these issues and they are not going to fix them but they will charge use to fix there miss takes it sure seems like with another bill of $1000.00. I told them they messed the car up none of the Check engine lights or the ABS lights were on until they worked on it. Now i going to Call the BAR and the BBB on them. I would not send anyone to this shop over priced and they just are looking to rip someone off. I real hate shops like this one that just out to rip other they forget some of us use to work on cars our self and we know whats right and whats wrong. read more

Awesome! Awesome place! Came here to get oil change, p/s flush, coolant flush, brake fluid, transmission fluid exchange. The price was better than what I could find anywhere else. They called me when it was done. They checked my battery and did a diagnostic test for me. After the service I checked everything to make sure. Everything was super clean. I have had bad service before trying to get these type of thing done to my car, and have been screwed. But not this place. The owner even have me some tips for my car as well. As I said in the first portion of my review, due to the incredibly misleading nature of my discussions with Ron (the manager) and my complete dissatisfaction with the 'work' that was done on my car, I had the Better Business Bureau dome in and do an investigation and AAMCO was found to be at fault. Since the BB cannot enforce their findings and recommendations, AAMCO offered me a $400 gift card if I was to have my transmission repaired at the shop (the same transmission they themselves damaged during teardown). I obviously refused such an insulting gesture and I will never recommend their incompetent and extremely poor service to anyone. read more

If I can give this place negative stars I would ! this is the worst place I have ever done business with they are the most unprofessional pieces of shit iv ever met ! first off we took our car in for the transmission , they told us they can have it fixed within a few days after getting financed , so we get financed for the service and they tell us their going to get started on the transmission , from there on they failed to update us or contact us regarding anything and everytime we tried to call and check on the car they either kept us on hold for long periods and hung up never comming to the phone or gave us a new date when it will be done basically giving us the run around and avoiding us. so after keeping our car for over a month , when we came in the office on the date they said it will be done they told us again 2 more days and michael the manager got an attitude with us and told us well that's how it works around here. so 2 days from then the Day before christmas They told us pick the car up before 1 pm , we get there a little after 12 pm and they are gone. After being told bullshit countless Numbers of time we went back again to pick the car up after they told us it was done and when we got there they told us we have a remaining balance of 85$ which they never mentioned over the phone at all upon telling us the car was ready . So once again our time was wasted and the owner said we new about the balance which is a lie ! so I personally hate this company and wish I never brought my car here they are a joke and should not be in business any longer ! read more

The owner calls me at 12:27 to tell me the guy who does the diagnostics was not in and they would run the check on Monday. ..at no point did he mention the $190.00 fee that goes with that. I had to call several times throughout the course of the day on Monday to even find out if they looked at the car. ..still no mention of any fee, finally a call back after my three calls only to quote me almost $5000.00. Came here about three times for one vehicle, the first trip was to get an estimated on a Catalytic converter and got quoted a little over 700 bucks ok cool schedule an appointment for the following week, dropped the car off at 8 am didn't get a call back till about 4:30, 30 minutes before closing for them to tell me they ordered the wrong part and the right one plus working labor would ran me about 1900. Wow what big jump in the price right. Alright about a month later we bring the same vehicle back to get serviced cost about 2,029 bucks. At this time I had someone else pick up the vehicle since I was at work thinking everything is fine, about three days later I finally get to drive the car and oh my god the car sounded like shit as if the passenger side axle were to fall off along with some noise and vibration spoke with a mechanic in regards to the noise and vibration I was feeling when speaking with him he stated that the car came in already making the noise when putting it in reverse.
